Spesso sento dire: “Per andare in barca ci vogliono i soldi veri.” Quando sei in acqua sei all’aperto, ti muovi, scegli tu dove andare. To try and fight the fake news, here's some video I collected from friends and social media. I live in the area and have done my best to vet everything. There was some questionable video I removed, one was a scene from the airport. I did edit the videos, but my editing was limited to trimming, cropping, and stabilizing.

#sailing #sailingfamily #travel #boatlife #dogs #cats

Go deeper on offshore boating prep: https://www.nauticed.org/bundle/view/captain?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=pZ9Y8Mc8XIE Looking for offshore equipment check out LRSE: https://www.lrse.com An EPIRB and a PLB have the same range. The main difference is how long they transmit once activated: an EPIRB transmits for 48 hours (minimum), and a PLB transmits for 24 hours (minimum). Another key difference is registration. An EPIRB is registered to the boat, so the registration includes more vessel-specific questions. A PLB is registered to a person, and the registration focuses on who you are, what activities you do, and your emergency contacts—without necessarily asking for boat information. Once you register an EPIRB or PLB, you can log into the database and update your beacon with an itinerary or float plan, and even change what you’re doing (for example, if you’re taking a PLB hiking or camping) so rescue personnel have better context. The other practical differences are size and transmission time—but in terms of signaling, they’re global systems. 00:00 - Transmit time (48h vs 24h) 00:21 - Registration Difference 00:48 - Updating the beacon database (itinerary / float plan) 01:36 - Differences: size + transmit duration #sailing #offshoresailing #boating #sailboat #offshore #sailinggear

How incredible is that!? 🇵🇹 After one of the stormiest winters Spain and Portugal have seen in years, we’re finally back on the move south again. But the Atlantic still keeps us on our toes with rolling swell, tricky conditions, and even a close call with fishing nets. We left Sweden in June last year to start our liveaboard sailing adventure through Europe with our dog Nora, our four-legged skipper. From the Baltic Sea through the English Channel, across the Bay of Biscay, and now sailing south along the Portuguese coast, we’re slowly making our way toward the Mediterranean. ⛵️ Portugal is a completely new country for us, and it feels incredible to finally have sunshine and spring weather again after months of storms and endless rain.☀️ 📍 Route: Muros (Spain) to Porto (Portugal) 🧑‍✈️ Crew: Erik, Linn & Nora the dachshund If you're new to our channel, welcome! 🩵 We’re Linn and Erik, a Swedish couple in our late 20s who quit our jobs, rented out our apartment, and set off to sail from Stockholm to the Mediterranean together with our sausage dog. We started the journey in our unique 33 foot sailboat from 1980, which we sold in Kiel, and luckily one week after we bought a new boat, a Bavaria 37, from 2000 more suited for our adventures ahead. 🔔 If you love real-life sailing stories and adventures where we learn as we go, don’t forget to subscribe and join us on the journey! 🎬 Check out our full sailing journey: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW5XfQ-xoWegVqr10z1ukHYnIOlh3kQfc&si=dziCYHWw8gBTSmmU 📱 Follow us on Instagram for more updates: https://www.instagram.com/sailanddoxie/ #sailing #sailinglife #boatlife #liveaboard #couple #adventure #dog

Provisioning by dinghy, settling in, organizing life on board, then casting off with no fixed destination. A short sail, a sunset arrival, and the true start of their life at sea.

► With nearly 20 knots of easterly breeze and a short, choppy sea, conditions were perfect to put Aquila’s very first sailing catamaran through its paces. At the helm, our journalist Brieuc Maisonneuve comfortably pushed the boat beyond 8 knots. ► The 50 Sail is unmistakably an Aquila. The brand’s signature bar, seamlessly linking the aft cockpit to the saloon, stands out as a defining feature. Beyond its soft, rounded lines and elongated hull windows, the model also borrows an innovative concept from Aquila’s powercat range: direct access to the flybridge from the foredeck. Elegantly integrated steps, complemented by a refined handrail, create a fluid and natural connection between these two living areas. ► Several elements reveal the brand’s powerboat heritage: a dedicated tender crane system, an impressively spacious owner’s suite, generously appointed heads, and private access to each cabin. The interior styling enhances the sense of luxury, with carefully selected materials such as sophisticated curtains, leather detailing, and rug in the saloon. Notably, traditional side walkways have been replaced by predominantly open living spaces, reinforcing the boat’s contemporary feel. ► Yet the true revelation lies in the Aquila 50 Sail’s performance under sail. The builder has equipped the boat with a genuine interior chart table - standard across the sailing range - and an outstanding flybridge helm station. The centrally positioned wheel, flanked by winches with control lines led to either side, offers excellent ergonomics and exceptional visibility, ensuring confident and enjoyable sailing. ► Technical specifications Builder: Aquila Boats Length: 49’1” (14.97 m) Beam: 25’9” (7.86 m) Draft: 3’4” (1.7 m) Air draft: 82’6” (25.15 m) Light displacement: 50,600 lbs (24 t) Mainsail: 968/1,037 sq ft (90/96.4 m²) Motors: 2 x 50 kW or 2 x 50/60/75 HP Fuel: 222 US gal (865 l) Water: 232 US gal (880 l) CE Certification: A12/B12/C20/D30 Base price: US$ 1,391,000 ex-tax Boat Show special price: US$ 1,900,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► This week, we’re taking you to the British Virgin Islands for seven days of family sailing aboard a Moorings 5000 (Leopard 50). ► On the itinerary: Tortola, Cooper Island, Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada… Exploring these islands and anchorages means short sails of one to three hours per day, except for a beautiful longer crossing to Anegada, a flat coral island set slightly apart from the rest of the archipelago. As for the crew, while Charlotte is already an experienced young sailor, it’s a first for Mahé and Marceau! Also on board: Aude, Joffrey, Laurie, Quentin, Pierre-Yves… and me, Maria. A true nine-person adventure, filled with time under sail, laughter at anchor, and the logistics of life as a floating tribe. ► We’ll also be sharing our sailing experience aboard the Moorings 5000: seaworthiness, cabin comfort, the layout of the convivial galley, how the outdoor spaces work for children… We’ll tell you whether this catamaran is truly well designed for family cruising. ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! In this video I share my personal experience comparing boat ownership in Spain and the United Kingdom — from registration, licences and insurance, to marinas, costs, salvage services and anchoring. This is not a technical or legal breakdown, but a practical comparison based on what I’ve personally experienced over the years. There are clear philosophical differences between both countries when it comes to regulation, responsibility and freedom — and that’s what I explore here. That said, this is only my opinion. I don’t have anywhere near the knowledge required to cover every aspect of this topic in depth. For example, I don’t know the anchorages in the south of England, which I understand are also excellent. The Scottish anchorages I’m familiar with are only being compared to the Mediterranean areas I know personally. I’m also aware that there are regions in Spain — such as Galicia — where anchoring conditions are much more similar to what we have here in the UK. 7 days with no land in sight. An 850-mile offshore sailing passage across the Atlantic from Gran Canaria to Cape Verde. We set sail from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, to Mindelo, Cape Verde, with two additional crew members on board. For seven days there is no land in sight - just the open Atlantic Ocean, night watches, sailing and the rhythm of life aboard Zoé during a bluewater passage. This route from the Canary Islands to Cape Verde is a classic Atlantic offshore leg, yet it still brings uncertainty. Near the coast of Mauritania, an unidentified vessel followed us for hours, raising concerns about potential piracy at sea. Along the way, dolphins escort the boat multiple times, we catch a dorado, and after a full week of long-distance sailing, we finally sail into Mindelo at sunset in strong winds. 🌊 If you enjoy our videos and would like to support us, please consider joining our Patreon crew for real-time updates and exclusive contents, or support us on Ko-fi with a one-time donation. I woke up at 4:00 AM in Calabash Bay, Long Island, Bahamas — shaken awake by a strong ocean swell rolling in from the open sea. Overnight, the wind had shifted… and everything pointed to a serious weather increase during the day. By first light, several sailboats were preparing to leave the bay. Some chose the safety of a more protected anchorage along Long Island. A few of us committed to the crossing — bound for the Exumas. The day started with a steady 20 knots of wind, quickly building to 25–30 knots, and the sea state followed. Bigger waves, more motion, more energy — sailing was about to get interesting. With a True Wind Angle around 130°, at least it was a following sea — a proper downwind run. And Mirage absolutely flew. We held no less than 8 knots, with long stretches at 9 knots, and occasionally pushed past 10 knots SOG. A fast, powerful ride. Midway through the passage, the wind cranked up even more. Gusts exceeded 35 knots, forcing multiple reefs. This was one of the most intense and exciting parts of the sail. As the Exumas came into view, I realized the final challenge was still ahead. The island cuts were rough, with a big swell running straight through them. Entering the cut under sail, in 35+ knots of wind, waves exploding on nearby reefs — absolutely priceless sailing moments. About a mile before the anchorage, I rolled the sails, pushed through heavy rain and limited visibility, and finally dropped anchor safely near Sand Dollar Beach, Exumas. This place means something special to me. I was here five years ago, aboard my previous boat — a Beneteau 41.1 “Melody.” Different boat. Same sailor. Same sea. Some dots just connect themselves :) ⚓🌊

In this episode of Sailing and Cruising the East Coast of United States, host Bela Musits sits down with Tom Greaves, a longtime sailor and member of the Blue Water Sailing Club. Whether you are planning a coastal cruise or dreaming of offshore adventures, this conversation offers essential insights into navigating the beautiful but challenging waters of Maine and beyond. Sailing the Coast of Maine Tom shares his sailing evolution, from his first time on a Laser clone in Ontario to cruising the Maine coast on his 1984 Bristol 35.5. Sailing out of Casco Bay and Peaks Island, Tom discusses the realities of navigating this region, including dodging lobster pots and managing the notorious Maine fog. He emphasizes the importance of using both Radar and AIS when dealing with commercial traffic and lobster boats. Tom also reveals his favorite cruising destinations, including Penobscot Bay, Eggemoggin Reach, and the breathtaking Merchant Row near Stonington. For those planning a trip, Tom recommends visiting in August and utilizing the "Cruising Guide to the Maine Coast" by Curtis Rindlaub. The Marion to Bermuda Race Beyond coastal cruising, Tom details his experience preparing for and completing the 2023 Marion to Bermuda Race. He shares how the race served as a confidence builder and a catalyst for getting his boat offshore-ready, a process managed meticulously by his wife through a detailed preparation spreadsheet. The Blue Water Sailing Club & Future Generations Tom provides an inside look at the Blue Water Sailing Club, a "virtual" club founded in 1959 that focuses on cruising, camaraderie, and mentoring sailors for offshore events. The episode concludes with a thoughtful discussion on the importance of passing the torch to the next generation of sailors and creating opportunities for youth to experience offshore sailing. Key Topics in This Episode: Maine Cruising: Best destinations including Penobscot Bay and Isle au Haut. Navigation Safety: Tips for handling lobster pots and heavy fog. Offshore Preparation: Lessons learned from the Marion to Bermuda Race. Sailing Community: The benefits of joining the Blue Water Sailing Club. I think there were more shark habitants than people in the Ragged Islands (resident population of 70). Clear waters, abundant sea life, remote anchorages, and an amazing sailing community in Hog Cay.

Jason Carroll’s MOD70 Argo (USA) has taken Multihull Line Honours in the 2026 RORC Caribbean 600, completing the 600-mile course in an elapsed time of 01 Day 12 Hrs 01 Mins and 46 Secs after a ferocious, race-long battle with Jon Desmond’s MOD70 Final Final – Zoulou, just over three minutes behind. The two MOD70 trimarans were separated by just one mile at the finish off Fort Charlotte, Antigua - an extraordinary margin after nearly 600 miles of racing flat-out racing around 11 Caribbean islands. What unfolded was not simply a contest of speed, often exceeding 30 knots, but a shifting tactical duel from island to island which was decided by a smart move by Argo in the closing miles. #Caribbean600 #RORCracing

Yes, we live on a sailboat. Yes, we took a cruise on a boat to explore Doubtful Sound in New Zealand. This area was used to film Lord of the Rings. It was beautiful and reminded us of Princess Louis Inlet in Canada. We didn’t see as much wildlife as we had hoped to see but the water was calm and the weather was perfect.
