In this detail video, we show many of the steps we followed to attach new Sunbrella marine grade canvas fabric to our deconstructed upholstery. What's that? I haven't posted the deconstruction video yet? Well, perhaps I'm not as tied to a linear, cause-and-effect timeline narrative as some. Or maybe it's that I edited the videos in the order that I was interested in so they're a little our of order. People are different, that's all I'm saying... Anyway, we describe some of the challenges we faced when attaching a VERY different type of fabric to 30 year old upholstery. We also offer explanations of how we overcame those challenges. Hi, We're the Medlands (Nate, Megan, Kieran & Eily) - We recently sold everything we own to move onto a vintage CATAMARAN sailboat with the ambitious goal of taking our KIDS CRUISING AROUND THE WORLD (despite being total novices). I put in to Cat Island because I was too tired to carry on to Rock Sound, and it turned out to be a gem of a spot. In this podcast I pass on everything I've learned sailing over 1000 nm, The cost, what I would do differently and what's next for the Sailing EV YouTube channel.

Winds were light, so I took the opportunity to try my hand at sailing through some narrow passageways. I had checked them all out a few weeks earlier while motoring during a period of no wind. There are some shallow rocks...but they're all on the shore side and visibility to 10' is excellent. The boat only draws 18" so you just have to hug the deeper, outside part of each channel. I'm a little jealous of the kayakers though!

After sailing for a few days fighting through all the challenges and hurdles we finally made it to the Canary Islands! Located just away from the coast of Africa we arrived in Lanzarote and decided to explore what it has to offer. We saw unique volcanic landscapes, stunning beaches, its architectural style and had amazing meals during our quick stay. We also went 'offroading' in our 10 passenger van to a top of a hill, because why not? The views were absolutely worth it! Owen and Emerson drove stick for the first time, it was very funny. We also went to dine at a place where they cooked using the heat of the volcano 🤯. Pretty interesting stuff. After doing some repairs to our boat we said goodbye to this beautiful place and started our journey crossing the Atlantic! As always thank you for watching, see you on the next episode! Once finding our anchorage, we hiked through the middle of the night to catch one of the most epic sunrises we have EVER seen. We REALLY didn't know what was in store for us as we set out into the pitch black at 4am. After all, this was an island we hadn't yet explored, so we literally had no idea what we were walking into. New Zealand is renowned for having some of the best hiking in the entire world, and this sure was a memorable one. Due to accidentally shearing off the bleed screw when bleeding the fuel systems after a fuel filter change, we need to change the feed pump (sometimes called a lift pump, or bleed pump). 00:00 bleeding the engine 01:25 disaster strikes - we shear the bleed screw off inside the pump housing 03:05 installing the new pump 05:28 fuel leak around the filter... identify and rectify the fault 06:02 fixed the problem. Run engine for test, clean up.

I've been thinking about boat storage for a while now. Mochyn Du is easy, she packs up on her trailer and then I can get her in my garden as 2 people can easily side walk her through my gate! She's also small enough to not get in the way too much. Lulu is a different matter though and I need to find a place for her for the winter. I can leave her on the mooring, but the lake can get rough over the winter, I also need extra and expensive insurance and she's going to be in a state when I come back in March no doubt. I could also leave her at one of the local places, however they don't allow you to work on boats and they're just too far away to do a bit of work. Driving 1h 40m for a whole day's sailing is fine, but to do 30 mins of fibreglassing is another matter!! So I think i've found a place close to home that could just fit the bill!
