We Go sea Glass hunting at Charmouth in Dorset, which is one of the best places in the south to go looking for sea glass. all the glass we found was well cooked. much of it was small. the biggest pieces were clear or green. char mouth is also a great place for fossil hunting too. with the unstable cliffs constantly eroding and more fossils being un covered all the time

After a 2 year refit - we're sailing home! And so just like that, we were anchored back to where it all began, outside Vuda Marina. For those of you that don’t know us, we’ve just spent the last 2 years in Fiji, refitting our ex Vendee Gobe Open 60, turning her into a fast family cruiser. Cyclone season is drawing to a close here in Fiji, the days are getting shorter, the temperature is dropping and there’s a hint of fresh easterly trades in the air… These were all signs that our days on these shores were numbered and it was time to start to prepare the crew and the ship for the long passages ahead.It was especially important that all crew were appropriately trained for the upcoming voyage. But where were we headed? We’ve been discussing the route and our future plans for sometime now but recently we’ve made the decision to leave the Pacific and the opportunities we’ve been offered here. It hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but after being away from home so long, the most important thing for us right now is to go back and spend some quality time with our loved ones. So we will be pointing our bow in the direction west and then northwest towards to Mediterranean and home, starting with Vanuatu next month. In the video we are moving more tools and materials into storage, in preparation for upcoming annual inspection with the State of Hawaii DLNR. Tradition must make a short passage, under motor power, around the head buoy in Keehi Channel, and back to her mooring, to prove her viability as a functioning boat. This is a policy of the State of Hawaii, that helps prevent the build of derelict boat in our harbors. On the remote island of Guanaja I did several dives where we had harmless nurse sharks follow us for most of the dive. At times they would come within a few feet. They were like puppy dogs. At one point the divemaster was showing me something on some coral and the shark comes right up to us and was like, "Hey, what are you guys looking at".

While diving at Coco View in Roatan they offered a unique experience. After either the morning or afternoon boat dive you could get dropped off on the reef several hundred yards from the resort and swim back. The area included some decent wall dives and the 160' Prince Albert wreck. What made it particularly enjoyable was that you and your partner(s) were on your own and could explore at your own pace.

In this video we continue our adventure from White Cove complex on Santa Catalina Island ~38 nm south to Pyramid Cove anchorage on San Clemente Island, CA. It was an uneventful motor sail to Pyramid Cove yet mega beautiful once we got there. As a bonus; Mark shows me (us) a cool trick to see if you are on a collision course using a magnetic compass bearing on an approaching cargo ship. Thanks for watching! I’ve always loved solo sailing, Sailing alone on a Catamaran is a lot different from a monohull though, this I learnt. I’m yet to decide if I’ll solo sail my Cat on longer passage though as the danger seems to be much higher. I solo sailed my mono many thousands of miles, she spoke to me on passage. When the wind got up she heeled over more, when the sea state changed I knew it and woke up instantly. I sailed her without much though, just instinctively. On my new Cat I have yet to feel this, maybe it will just take longer to recognise these feelings? When the wind gets up she just goes faster and I dont even realise it. I can be doing 12kts and it doesn’t feel any different than 6kts. At night if a 40kt squall hits this would be very dangerous. On the plus side she’s very easily driven and I can hold a very small amount of sail at night and still do reasonable speeds. Its just this lack of communication that I’m having difficulties with. Unfortunately many catastrophic keel failures on monohull sailing yachts end in tragedy, like the Beneteau 40.7 Cheeki Rafiki, which lost her keel in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, which led to all four sailors on board tragically losing their lives. But there are rare cases when keel failures don’t end badly, and the crew miraculously managed to sail home, like the crew of this Hotfoot 27 Hay Tor. This video describes how they did it, and provides some tips on what you can do if you find yourself with large holes in your boat. In this episode we share some hints about anchoring in Panama, our experience at the Pacific side and even take you with us to Isla Taboga. Unfortunately there have recently been some brutal encounters between sailors and pirates in Panama again. Already to episodes outside Las Perlas and one at the Caribbean side. This is very sad and hopefully the authorities of Panama once again put focus on this and have it ended before it escalates to levels like three years ago. As normal there is always something to fix on a sailboat and the saying sailing is fixing things in exotic locations have never been more spot on. Isla Taboga is a positive surprise just outside Panama City, and we are waiting a few days to have our parts made for an upgrade at the auto pilot setup. Join us on this episode, dropping anchor in various locations in Yamba, Iluka and up the Clarence River in NSW. This week was full of drama, from dragging anchor a few nights after arriving in Yamba. We experienced a storm, which resulted in us dragging and we hit the bank side on. With us wrecking our gypsi on the windlass 😭 We explore Maclean, as well as trying to get the torned Main sail out of the in furling mast. Returning back to Iluka, sight seeing and getting the odd jobs done. Before we set sail to Brisbane 🙌🏻 We had our Main Sail repaired by Scooter Sails & Shades. He was reasonably priced and got the job done quickly. Self note: if you need to get any repairs or work done, book in advance. We had to wait 12 days, before he could do the work. ~HARDWOOD BRIDGE~ We went on to Zulu Water Ways for the most upto daye informatio, when tequesti g for rhe bridge to be lifted. The famous Pacific Hotel, went to the cinema and enjoyed the cafes their also. ~YAMBA MARINA~ We stayed on 2 occasionsdue to having to drop the sail off for tepairs and to pick up. We paid to stay on the mooring, which did not including using the bathrooms. Which we found out later, that there was an extra charge. Among those winning races were Tom Burton OAM and Max Paul in the 49er, who now find themselves in third place, a stark contrast to the U Flag 34 they collected in the first race of the series. That score will be their drop (discard), with everything else a 12 or better, which against this level of international talent is a statement. That fellow ‘skiffies’ Jim Colley and Shaun Connor collected the win in the first race of the day and will join Burton and Paul in the medal race is a solid underscore for the whole team.

In questo vlog insieme a mio cugino Fidelio ( https://www.mediterraneachartersud.com/it/ ) vi porto a fare un giro a bordo di Ofelia II, uno splendido JEANNEAU SUN ODYSSEY 53, lungo la splendida costa napoletana; partiremo dalla darsena Acton ai piedi de Maschio Angioino e del palazzo reale di Napoli e navigheremo fino a Miseno, un posto stupendo nella zona di Bacoli e dove secoli fa, secondo la mitologia greca, vi approdò Ulisse, incantato dalle bellezze della costa Flegrea. Qui i patrizi romani vi costruirono ville stupende e nelle vicinanze fu creato un grande porto che ospitò la flotta imperiale, la Classis Praetoria Misenensis. Tra Miseno e Bacoli, vicino Napoli, si trovano tanti posti meravigliosi e pieni di storia ma anche luoghi stupendi bagnati dal mare. Oltre ai litorali sabbiosi di Miliscola e le spiagge di Capo Miseno esistono tratti particolari e bellissimi di costa mozzafiato tra cui la zona dello Schiacchetiello che può essere considerato un piccolo angolo di paradiso affacciato sul mare di fronte all’Isolotto di Punta Pennata. Poi proseguiremo per Posillipo, la zona più esclusiva di Napoli, ancoreremo a Marechiaro per una gustosa grigliata di pesce e ammireremo il meraviglioso paesaggio della rada di Napoli incorniciata tra castel Dell'Ovo e il Vesuvio. Nous quittons Kilifi avec des conditions météo superbes, le vent, les vagues et le courant devraient être avec nous jusqu’à Mayotte. Ben non, ca ne s’est pas passé exactement ainsi, bien du vent la première journée, angle parfait, mais 1 a 2 nds de courant de face.mais c’est normal, puis 2 jours splendides et tranquille, et pour finir une journée de moteur, en raison du vent, mais aussi du manque d’électricité, car les 3 panneaux solaires sur tribord sont occultés par la grand voile, donc pas de production. Il faut choisir, voile ou électricité 😩😩. Et une toute grande nouveauté, mais je n’en dis pas plus et je vous laisse découvrir la vidéo.
