► Voilà donc 13 ans que ce salon, inauguré à Lorient, s’impose comme le rendez-vous le plus important de l’année nautique des multicoques. Tout d’abord parce qu’il est unique : avec près de 70 catamarans et trimarans habitables présents cette année, ce boat show constitue la seule l'occasion dans le monde de découvrir à la fois les nouveautés (première mondiale, européenne ou française) et la plus grande partie des gammes des principaux constructeurs de multicoques. Cet événement a su rester à taille humaine – disponibilité des constructeurs, ambiance conviviale et décontractée, accès simple grâce à une passerelle qui rejoint la partie est du port, et grand parking pour les exposants. Au départ, l’idée des organisateurs du Salon International du Multicoque, devenu il y a un peu plus de trois ans International Multihull Show, était d’alterner façade atlantique française – c’est là que se trouvent les deux plus importants constructeurs mondiaux, Lagoon et Fountaine Pajot – et Méditerranée, où se concentrent également des chantiers qui comptent, comme Catana/Bali et Outremer/Gunboat. Au final, en séduisant une clientèle devenue internationale, le Sud de la France l’a emporté durablement. C’est donc à La Grande-Motte, à une grosse dizaine de kilomètres seulement de l’aéroport de Montpellier, que tout se passe. Les chances de profiter de cinq jours secs et ensoleillés en avril sont meilleures sur le rivage languedocien, par comparaison avec la météo bretonne – tant mieux, parce que les 15 000 visiteurs attendus passeront le plus clair de leur temps de visite à l’extérieur. On parle bien de statistiques : l’an passé, la pluie a durablement perturbé le salon et pour cette édition,, la Tramontane est au rendez-vous… Qu’on se le dise, l’IMS est un boat show de plein air, avec des multicoques à flot ! Nombre d’entre eux sont d’ailleurs d’ores et déjà réservés par notre équipe pour les premiers essais en navigation. The video for Leg 9 of 2022 has arrived! Take a sneak peek into the daily life onboard during this 6–day voyage from Lisbon to Malaga. We left Lisbon the 9th of September to start our journey to Malaga. On our way, we passed Cadiz, where the original Götheborg and her fellow East Indiamen used to cast anchor to trade Swedish ship building materials such as wood, tar, and iron in exchange for silver, which the Chinese traders wanted as payment for the tea, silk, china ware. Just after Cadiz, Götheborg entered the Mediterranean from the west for the very first time. We sailed through the Strait of Gibraltar, which is a must-do for many sailors. We enjoyed six days of authentic sailing, and even spotted dolphins before slowly cruising into the sun-drenched harbor of Malaga. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you interested in joining us for our sailing adventures this year? This is the video from leg 10, Malaga – Nice, 19 September – 2 October 2022 with 9 days of sailing. Shouldn’t an expedition like ours visit France? Of course! We saved our French stop for the Mediterranean, leaving Malaga 20 September with all sails set for the French Riviera. Fifteen years ago, Götheborg visited Nice for the first time, on the way back from Asia. The turquoise water, the sun and the dolphins all contributed to making this leg spectacular. Raja Ampat Dive Site. Algue Patch at South Batanta Algue Path is a dive site South of Batanta Island. This site was our last dive site of our Liveaboard trip (on our way back to Sorong) in Raja Ampat, including Misool. The site has a gentle slope with some stones and different type of algue. Ideal for muck diving. Unfortunately, with my GoPro I could not video most of the critters that can be found here, but there are many different type of Nudibranchs, Ghost Pipefish, Octopus and so many more. One thing I particular enjoy on this site was the Blue Flasher Wrasse. Because they move so fast are are quite shy, it's almost impossible to get any video of them. I was told, later the season, is usually when the Rhinopias and Frog Fish make their appearance here... Maybe next time. In this episode, after some trials and errors, I finally get Mistress' fancy engine box-companionway steps FITTED! This really was quite a tricky, custom engineering feat for me, BUT, perseverance = winning! 😁 I also make up the LAST 10 inside jobs before I will shift the good boatwork to Mistress' outside hull and decks and get these up on the Post-it notes bulkhead 'board' for all to see! Mistress is designed by one of the highly respected Dutch naval architects E.G. Van de Stadt, a Caribbean design, length 40ft/12m, beam 13ft/3.9m, draft 5ft/1.5m. Her hull and decks are built in mild steel and I have built her on my own and am also fitting her out on my own. I have not built any type of boat before Mistress. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.
