Willem Johannes has moved to the new harbour, Monnickendam, in the Netherlands. This journey, however, was not as smooth as anticipated. We had problems with our rudder during the transit. In the end, we landed safely on our new berth. Monnickendam is a charming historic town in the Dutch province of North Holland, located on the coast of the Markermeer, about 15 kilometres from Amsterdam. Founded by monks in the 14th century, it received city rights in 1355 and was once an important port. Today, Monnickendam is known for its well-preserved historical centre with cobblestone streets, centuries-old architecture, and landmarks like the 17th-century weigh house and the bell tower from 1591. Marina Monnickendam is a modern marina located in the heart of this picturesque town, offering 550 berths for both permanent residents and visitors.

Encore un beau week-end passé au Havre. Et même s'il n'y avait pas beaucoup de vent, le soleil était bien présent pour nous faire apprécier ces deux belles journées. Nous sommes très contents d'avoir retrouvé pour une soirée sympa sur les pontons le club de Deauville "Marina Deauville Club". On a vu au loin cet incendie ou plusieurs bateaux ont pris feu sur le port de plaisance au Havre , nous étions bien contents d'être en mer à ce moment-là. J'ai pu tester le nouveau gilet de Décathlon ,le LJ180N un gilet de sauvetage co-conçu avec les sauveteurs en mer. Il est très agréable à porter. Nous sommes aussi surpris et très content de rencontrer des personnes qui regardent nos vidéos Merci

► For 13 years now, this boat show, inaugurated in Lorient on France’s Atlantic coast, has been the most important meeting place for multihulls in the nautical calendar. First of all, because it is unique: with nearly 70 cruising catamarans and trimarans expected this year, this show is the only opportunity in the world to discover both new boats (with several making their World, European or French premieres) and the majority of the ranges of the main multihull manufacturers. The event has remained on a human scale – the availability of the builders, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with easy access thanks to a footbridge joining the show area with the eastern part of the port, and there’s plenty of parking space. At the outset, the idea of the organizers of the “Salon International du Multicoque”, which became the International Multihull Show a little over three years ago, was to alternate between the French Atlantic coast - where the world's two largest boat builders, Lagoon and Fountaine Pajot, are based - and the Mediterranean coast, where there is also a concentration of shipyards including Catana/Bali and Outremer/Gunboat. In the end, by attracting a clientele that has become truly international, the South of France has won out for good. So it's in La Grande-Motte, only six miles from Montpellier airport, that everything is happening. The chances of enjoying five dry and sunny days in late April are better on the Languedoc shores, compared to the Brittany weather – and all the better, because the 15,000 visitors expected to attend are spending most of their time outside. Make no mistake, the IMS is an outdoor show, with multihulls afloat! Toni and I have been sailing for many years, so why are we going back to school? We share our reasoning and our thoughts about additional training and certifications. We were hesitant at first but agreed that we will need to be well-prepared and well-informed if we were to venture out of site of land. We discuss our re-affirmations of ASA 101, 103, 104, 114 (video available at: https://youtu.be/7cWvPueP4i0 ) all taken over one week in the clear waters of the Exumas. These 4 certifications primed us for ASA 105 where we practiced plotting and navigation along the coast and learned to account for leeway, currents, and tides. We then took ASA 119 to learn weather forecasting and got way more than we bargained for. Confident with our new coastal navigation skills and detailed weather planning, we are looking forward to the day we slip the dock lines and venture towards the setting sun. Our worst fear came true; we were missing a propeller and now we were stuck. We needed to haul out the boat as soon as possible and work at finding a propeller that will fit our requirements!
