One of the very first installations of Tesla Powerwall 3 in remote, harsh Canadian winter locations in Haliburton for a 4 season lake cottage. No Solar, power backup and charging at low peak times to manage and lower hydro costs year round. This is a detailed video on the installation of a Tesla Powerwall system by Heliotechnik in Ontario. #teslapowerwall #heliotechnik #cottageliving #powerbackup #backupgenerator
In this video I get the winter heat shrink cover on and blast it with a flame thrower.
We start with some stunning drone footage sent inn from the Sodebo team, taken on 30th December in the Indian Ocean. This really demonstrates just how fast this yacht is travelling, and remember they’ve been doing this 24/7 for over 17 days, without a break. We then take a look at the round the world course. The Sodebo team have smashed record after record over the first 17 days. The first major point is crossing the equator from north to south, which the Sodebo team completed in 4 days, 4 hours and 2 minutes, smashing the previous record set by Spindrift of 4 days, 20 hours and 7 minutes, and put them over 500 nautical miles ahead of Francis Joyon’s IDEC Sport, who currently hold the Jules Verne Trophy and the round the world record. The Sodebo team then stayed close to the South American coastline as they made their way down the South Atlantic and extended their lead to over 1000 nautical miles. In this animation, the yellow boat is Sodebo, with the red boat being the course that IDEC Sport took in 2016/17 when they set the record. This was a slow section for Joyon and his team back then, but Sodebo has had to take a longer route that IDEC Sport, who managed to cut the corner of the Saint Helena high pressure system. Thomas Coville and his team though smashed the record to the Cape of Good Hope, setting a new reference time of 10 days, 23 hours and 55 minutes, beating Gitana’s record of 11 days, 9 hours and 53 minutes, and was nearly two days quicker than Joyon and IDEC Sport’s time. The threat though in the deep south is icebergs. The team have to balance up the benefits of the shorter route, and potentially stronger winds, to the south, with the danger of hitting one of these, which wouldn’t just be an end of their record attempt, it would put their lives in severe danger. The passage across the Indian Ocean is when IDEC Sport enjoyed a near-perfect run, and Sodebo could do nothing as they watched their lead reduced to under 200 nautical miles at times as they gybed to find the best winds, knowing that Joyon and his team back in 2016/17 covered the entire ocean on one gybe at incredible speed. Sodebo has though held the lead and set a new record to Cape Leeuwin of 17 days, 1 hour, and 17 minutes, over 5 and a half hours quicker than IDEC’s time. At the time of recording, Sodebo is to the south of Australia, having covered 770 nautical miles over the past 24 hours at an average speed of 32.2 knots as the crow flies. The Pacific Ocean saw IDEC Sport having to duck north after passing New Zealand, which took them off the ideal path. If Thomas Coville and his team have good weather systems in the Pacific then they could rebuild their lead over the reference time and set a new record to Cape Horn, setting themselves up for the final push up the Atlantic. We end today’s video with another amazing drone flight, from start to finish, recorded on 29th December. You can track Sodebo via https://sodebo-ultim3.sodebo.com/ Thumbnail photo © Jérémie Lecaudey

Wowee it has been A YEAR since we posted our last video, and we’re happy to have our next installment of the barn build to share! Finally it’s time to turn a pile of boards into something real. In this episode, we break down how post-frame walls go together, why we decided to build them on the ground, and how a simple story pole keeps everything lined up—even when nothing is perfectly level. And there’s plenty of overthinking about what “close enough” actually means. Add in some new tools, a homemade jig, and a lot of nails, and by the end the walls are ready to be raised. Who’s got construction experience? Drop us a comment and tell us what we did wrong (or right!). We know we have a ridiculous amount to learn. As always, our deepest thanks to all of you following our journey, we so appreciate you! Hope you enjoy! After crossing the Atlantic, we have finally arrived in Martinique. In this video, I first describe my experiences of all the Caribbean islands I have visited so far – including my personal assessment of whether and how worthwhile it is to arrive there as a sailor after crossing the Atlantic. Which island is a good place to stock up on provisions, where is it cheap or rather expensive, which island is more unspoiled, and where is the best place to have repairs done? Then we're off: I show our journey from Martinique via Dominica to Guadeloupe – with impressions of sailing, nature, and life on board. I hope you enjoy the video and feel free to write your thoughts or experiences in the comments, because everyone has their own perspective based on their own travels. I would of course be very happy if you subscribed, as it would help my channel.

This is potentially at the max size limit that most capable boating couples would consider running without crew. Thanks to the technology, design and construction of this Riv 64 SMY she's more than capable of some very serious cruising and may be the perfect choice for a family that's looking for a boat to serve you in life after work. THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS Mention code DBL for discounts on Marine Mold Construction – https://ms-marine.eu/ Riviera has reached a point of maturity where they have so many members of their team who have personally been involved in multiple decades of design, building and iteration of these boats. I feel they have reached a point where these larger boats now feel like smaller boats when you are at the helm. I don't mean they are small! That's not my point - what I mean is that the refinements, the small details and the clever additions that just keep coming with Riviera both make total sense and also reduce the work load on the skipper and crew to a point where you can just run these boats quite easily and you find yourself basically having more fun. I hope these words makes sense to those of you who are in the market. Also bear in mind that Riv have already introduced a Series II of this very model so use this as your opportunity to spot the differences on the new model and see what you place value in. 2026 New Year Message from IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez
This video documents the progress of building a large hardtop for a Bavaria 55 cruiser, with the creator doing all the work solo from his cockpit, which serves as his workshop (0:18). The project faces challenges due to limited tools, space, and unpredictable weather (0:27). This is not a how-to guide for building a HARD DODGER or HARDTOP. It is a journey showing how I do it in my way. Without claiming this is the way to do it. Thank you so much for tagging along and for the patrons' support in making this video possible. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it. Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me. Even though this is season 8 on YouTube, I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 7 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. I also have more than 10 years of experience as a captain in search and rescue at sea in Norway.

Sailing vessel Tapatya Our review of our sailing adventures in 2025. What a great year of junk rigged voyaging! This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. You make a real difference!! 🔧 Paterazzo fisso vs paterazzo regolabile: quale scegliere? We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. Two ongoing jobs have been preparing for our electric motor installation and creating a cockpit enclosure for our wheelhouse. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc).
