But this model isn’t exactly new, with hull #1 having been launched in 2023 and already completed two seasons in the Mediterranean and one in the Caribbean. ► On board, it’s all about luxury and comfort, but performance hasn’t been overlooked, judging by the daggerboards - which retract in the event of striking something - that plunge to almost 15 feet (4.5 meters) below the surface. The builder promises, in certain conditions, speeds equal to those of the wind. We’re willing to believe it, since this catamaran, over 76 feet (23 meters) long, was clocked at 29 knots! We spent our last day aboard the Island Spirit 525e charter boat, making the most of a beautiful day on the water before sailing her back to the marina. We hit the beach, enjoyed one last cruise, and the girls soaked up the sun before heading home. But after the fun was over, I had to share some disappointing news: my new Island Spirit 525e build has been delayed yet again. I don’t have a firm delivery timeline yet, but it’s looking like it could be a while before my boat is finally ready. It’s frustrating, but that’s part of the adventure. We’ll keep sailing, keep filming, and keep making the best of it until the new boat is finally finished. ► When Philippe Marcovich invited me for a ride on his rigid-wing catamaran (designed by Hugues de Turckheim and Philippe himself), I couldn’t say no… even though we’d already tested this prototype in our Forever Green Special Edition #22. Afinado, as it is called, will be unveiled to the public for the first time at La Grande-Motte. ► This all-carbon multihull, 10 meters long and 9 meters wide—including its ladders—weighs barely a ton. With its elegant canoe-style bows, it certainly has style, but it’s not its design that should catch your eye… Instead, one looks up to discover a 17-meter carbon mast supporting an astonishing 60-square-meter flexible, thick wing called the ACCWing (for automatic camber control wing). The principle is thus to have at one’s disposal, depending on the wind direction and strength, a flat or cambered profile, much like an airplane wing. The Myth of Malham mirrors the opening stages of the Rolex Fastnet Race, sending the fleet west from Cowes towards the Eddystone Lighthouse before returning to the Solent. The Cowes Dinard St Malo Race is one of the great cross Channel classics, with the overall winner under IRC receiving the King Edward VII Challenge Cup, originally donated by His Majesty in 1906. The Channel Race, first run in 1928, was established as a shorter alternative to the Fastnet and became the shorter offshore race to The Admiral’s Cup.
