Another great thing about lake Garda and especially Torbole is that you can choose which wind and wave conditions you want to train in. At a typical afternoon you have about 16 to 22 knots of wind near Torbole and Riva and the wind loses about half it's strength when you are half the way up to Malcesine. It is kind of the opposite direction in the morning. There are some "secret" spots where you have that extra portion wind strength. In front of Piers Windsurf Hotel is the most famous one. Sometimes this leads to a difficult situation when you have a wall of windsurfers above you and you don't want to bear away in the special gust... Anyway it's very cool to have a boat that is fast enough to go all around the place that you can take advantage of this special wind situation. For us the training conditions were perfect so we practiced a few tacks, foiling bear aways and gybes. It is interesting to see how you can influence the foiling with your body tension. Leaning out more means more flight high. More leaning inwards and/or more heel means less flight hight. Esperanza parti 5 mois en Grèce avec à son bord deux Drones FPV: Un drone étanche, un drone racer. Pourquoi le Drone FPV ? Il y a 2 types de drones : Ceux « grand public » qui se pilotent sans casque FPV : généralement avec une radiocommande et un retour vidéo sur notre smartphone. Même si ces drones (comme la gamme des dji mini, air, mavic) produisent de très bonnes vidéos, leur contrôle via un vol stabilisé manque de précision dès qu'ils sont loin. Dès une centaine de mètres, on doit plutôt focaliser son pilotage sur le retour vidéo du smartphone et là reflets du soleil, ombre, écran trop petit, drone plus qu'un point lointain....: on manque là souvent de précision. Les drones FPV (First Person View) proposent un retour vidéo dans un casque, ces drones là se pilotent donc en immersion ; on voit en direct ce que voit le drone. Avantages : Précision accrue quelque soit la distance, mode de vol très précis mais attention là souvent (en mode Acro) pas d'aide au pilotage et pas de stabilisation comme sur les Dji et autres.... Aucune assistance et le pilote est en prise directe avec les commandes du Drone. Ces drones souvent plus rustiques sont très rapides souvent plus de 100 Kmh, ils embarquent généralement une GoPro qui est une camera d'action avec un système de stabilisation de la vidéo qui peut aussi se faire au moment du montage avec un logiciel spécifique RealSteadyGo. Pour piloter ce type de drone il faut d’abord apprendre sur simulateur avant de se lancer (environ 20h) sinon c'est le crash assuré.... On Branche donc sa radiocommande sur son ordinateur avec des logiciels tels que LiftOff, FPVFreerider ou Velocidrone et on s’entraîne avant de passer au vol réel, mais là dès qu'on maîtrise ce genre d'engin : sensations garanties ! Plaisir d'aller plus loin, très très loin.... Plaisir du Pilotage et un autre mode de vidéo beaucoup plus fluide et rapide. J'ai commencé comme beaucoup avec des drones « grand public » Dji qui produisent des belles vidéos, un peu bricoleur et curieux de la technique je me suis rapidement tourné vers les drones FPV que l'on peut assembler soi même et bricoler à l'infini. Dans ce cas il vaut mieux un peu bricoler en informatique et électronique et sortir son fer à souder... Le monde du Drone FPV c'est pour des bricoleurs un brin « geek » du dimanche, si on aime les sensations de pilotage: plaisir garanti ! PS: Pour les voiliers et des prises de vues marines, les GoPro embarquées sur les drones FPV sont étanches jusqu'à 10 mètres, penser alors à protéger l'électronique (carte de vol ) les moteurs éclectiques peuvent être immergés quelques secondes, simplement penser a les rincer à l'eau douce. This episode we leave Freshwater Bay and sail around Hat Point in a fairly strong current where we see whirlpools going past No Regrets, before stopping at Borda Island where a very friendly crocodile swims out to welcome us. Heading further south we pass around part of the huge pearl farm and make our way to Crystal Beach (or also known as Careen Beach), and take the most difficult climbing route to see the crystals on the beach, before anchoring at South East Rocks. 2006 Harmony 38 upgraded for blue water in 2022. EU VAT paid The Harmony 38 is designed for cruising comfort and convenience and is easily sailed by a couple. The Dolphin nose, large cockpit, tandem keel and detachable toe rail are evidence of the innovative design features that make this a practical, elegant design. Wheel steering, windlass, self-tail winches on deck with two double cabins, linear galley with huge chest fridge and bright, spacious saloon make for practical and efficient cruising comfort. The Dufour engineers designed this boat. It is straightforward to sail, even solo. The mast and all the rigging system was replaced in 2016. The current owners prepared the boat for offshore sailing in June 2022 since they planned to cross the Bay of Biscay and then from Spain to the Caribbean. But once in Spain, they got new job positions, and now they do not have time to do it. They can not keep the boat anymore. The interior of the boat is very spacious for living aboard. The last maintenance of the hull was made in January 2023, and the owner took this opportunity to change the sea cocks for bronze ones. We also replaced the toilet with a new one. In this episode we leave the Spanish mainland but before that we need to fix our Desalinator Duo D100 and we are sailing out to the Balearic Islands to a lovely anchorage on Ibiza that surprised us with a beautiful sunset and great snorkeling. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again. We are now cruising around in the Mediterranean Sea.

This week aboard SV Reeva, our sailing journey takes a new turn—as we go from sailors to certified divers! We wrap up our Open Water Diver and Advanced Adventurer certifications with DiveIndia @diveindiaandamans7933 SSI India, diving deep into the vibrant reefs of Havelock Island. In our final Open Water dives, we came face to face with incredible marine life: Blue-spotted stingrays, two curious octopuses, lionfish, and a graceful moray eel. Each dive opened our eyes to the magic of the underwater world. During the Advanced Adventurer course, we took on five thrilling specialties: Night diving (an unforgettable experience!) Perfect buoyancy Navigation Fish ID Underwater photography One unforgettable moment came when our boat captain Joel spotted an Olive Ridley turtle trapped in a net. In a heartwarming rescue, our dive instructor Vijay, diver Akhil Gogo, and Kaeya leapt in to set the turtle free—watching it swim away was a memory we’ll treasure forever. After 6 days and 10 dives, we’re now SSI Advanced Adventurer divers, and we’re so grateful for this new skill and experience. We left Mackinaw City in the morning; dodged the Norwegian cruise ships on the roads off Mackinac Island; crossed northern Lake Huron towards the St. Mary’s River in squally conditions; and the next day climbed up against the river’s moderate current to the friendly George Kemp Marina at Sault Ste. Tyler grew up sailing in San Diego first in Sabots and then in Snipes crewing for his Dad. He's a big fan of how helpful everyone is in the Snipe Class whether its talking about boat tune in the parking lot or sail trim on the water. He sees everyone works at raising the level of competition for all the boats. Sailing at this year's Nationals, Tyler was one of a dozen young skippers fighting for a top 5 finish.
