After last week’s episode, where you saw us sailing through a sudden squall in the South China Sea, we finally arrived at Tarempa, the capital of the Anambas Islands, Indonesia, aboard our sailboat SV Reeva. One of the most common questions we receive as a liveaboard sailing family is: How do sailboats check into another country? In this episode, we explain how to enter Indonesia by sailboat, covering the full Indonesia immigration process for yachts, especially in a remote cruising destination like Anambas Islands. To make the international boat clearance smooth, we took the help of a local Indonesia sailing agent. In Indonesia, the customs and immigration clearance for sailboats happens onboard. Government officials visit the yacht, including Port Control / Harbour Master (who checks boat registration and safety documents), the Health Inspector, Customs, and Immigration officials. Once all boat papers and passports are verified, our passports are taken ashore and returned with official Indonesian entry stamps. With clearance complete, we are legally checked into Indonesia and ready to continue our sailing adventure in Southeast Asia. The Anambas Islands are one of Indonesia’s hidden sailing paradises, known for crystal-clear waters, untouched coral reefs, quiet anchorages, and pristine island life. This episode marks the true beginning of our Indonesia sailing journey. Join us as we share the real side of boat life, cross-border sailing, and life on a sailboat, as we continue exploring Indonesia aboard SV Reeva. 👉 Follow our journey: 📸 Instagram: @the_reeva_project 📘 Facebook: The Reeva Project -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- पिछले हफ्ते के एपिसोड में आपने देखा था कि कैसे हम एक तेज़ स्क्वॉल से गुज़रते हुए आगे बढ़े, और अब हम पहुँच चुके हैं तेरेंपा, जो अनाम्बास आइलैंड्स, इंडोनेशिया की राजधानी है। ⛵🌊 Sailing into Indonesia Anambas Islands Indonesia Terempa Anambas Sailboat immigration process How to check into Indonesia by boat South China Sea sailing Liveaboard sailing couple Sailing vlog India The Reeva Project SV Reeva #thereevaproject #sailingindonesia #anambasislands #boatlife #liveaboardlife #indiansailors #svreeva #southchinasea #indiansailingfamily #CruisingLife #thereevaproject #lifeatsea
After spending three beautiful weeks exploring the Tioman Islands, Malaysia, we finally set sail towards Terempa, Anambas Islands, Indonesia. This episode captures our 140 nautical mile passage across the South China Sea, with a planned stop at Jemaja Island, one of the larger islands in the Anambas archipelago. As we sailed, Vee took the night watch under a stunning full moon — one of those magical sailing moments that the camera simply can’t do justice to. The first 24 hours were calm and comfortable, and it felt special sailing just the two of us together after a long time. By mid-day, we entered Indonesian waters, greeted by unreal shades of blue — sky and sea blending into one. We anchored at Jemaja, an island that also has an airport, and soon realized how quickly weather can change in the South China Sea. With rough weather forecasted, we were grateful to have taken shelter. We also discovered that our bilge pump setup hadn’t worked as planned (from the previous episode), so we stayed aboard to fix things and ended the day with a refreshing sea swim. After 2–3 days, once the weather improved, we sailed onward to Terempa, Anambas, where things got interesting again — rough weather, and then we realized a pin from our mainsail had come loose mid-sail. Gaurav also shares a valuable tip on how to prepare for bad weather at sea, stressing the importance of timely action and closely monitoring weather apps. After an eventful sail, we finally arrived at Terempa, where officials from Customs, Immigration, Health, and Port Authority came onboard to officially check us into Indonesia. The Anambas Islands are a remote and pristine archipelago in Indonesia, known for crystal-clear waters, untouched reefs, and their off-the-beaten-path beauty — a true sailor’s paradise. We’re excited to begin exploring Anambas, Indonesia in the coming episodes! 👉 Follow our journey: 📸 Instagram: @the_reeva_project 📘 Facebook: The Reeva Project ---------------------------------------------------------------------- मलेशिया के तिओमन आइलैंड्स में लगभग तीन हफ़्ते बिताने के बाद, हमने अब अपना सफ़र शुरू किया इंडोनेशिया के अनाम्बास आइलैंड्स की ओर। ⛵🌊 Sailing to Indonesia Anambas Islands Indonesia Tioman to Anambas sail South China Sea sailing Liveaboard sailing couple Full moon sailing Boat life reality Sailing vlog India The Reeva Project Sailing Malaysia to Indonesia #TheReevaProject #SailingIndonesia #AnambasIslands #SouthChinaSea #BoatLife #LiveaboardLife #SailingCouple #FullMoonSailing #OceanAdventure #SailboatLife #CruisingLife #IndianSailors #LifeAtSea #SVReeva

After a wonderful birthday week and some unforgettable diving, we sailed into the Marina at Tioman a small, charming island off the coast of Malaysia. Tioman is one of Malaysia’s best-kept secrets — a duty-free island known for incredible snorkeling, diving, and jungle trekking. Bad weather was predicted for the next few days, so we decided to seek shelter at the marina. Soon we realized the island’s cargo ferry — the lifeline for groceries and provisions would not be coming for the next week due the the storm predictions ! What followed was heavy rain, strong gusts, and one wild squall that even blew away our slippers! Once the weather cleared, we headed out to Renggis Island for a snorkeling adventure where we swam with blacktip sharks and a turtle. It was an unforgettable experience! We spent two blissful weeks at Tioman, soaking in its peace and beauty. Join us as we share this slice of island life — full of laughter, storms, and serenity. In this week’s sailing vlog, we continue our journey across the South China Sea and arrive at Tioman Island, Malaysia — a paradise known for diving, snorkeling, lush jungles, and tropical beauty. After a 3-day sail, we reached Tioman and safely picked up a mooring. But challenges came early — our dinghy wouldn’t start during domestic check-in! Thankfully, a fellow sailor helped us out, turning stress into friendship. This episode was even more special as we celebrated Vaidehi’s birthday underwater. With Tioman Reef Divers, we explored coral reefs, spotted an eel, and even swam with 4 stingrays. We also had our very first cave dive — an unforgettable experience! Later, we teamed up with Patrick & Sarah, an experienced diving couple from Singapore (200+ dives logged at Tioman). Together, we explored Chebeh Island and Malang Rock, two of Tioman’s top dive sites. Just when we thought the adventure was done, a sudden squall hit us at anchor. Strong winds tested our boat life skills, but quick action kept us safe. In this episode aboard SV Reeva, we crossed the Singapore Strait and arrived at Senibong Cove Marina, Johor Bahru. It was a bittersweet moment as we said goodbye to our crew — Swaroop and Apoorva returned to Switzerland, and Kaeya headed back to India. With the boat suddenly quiet, it took us a few days to adjust to life with just the two of us again. Once the farewells were behind us, it was time to get Reeva ready for new adventures. We stocked up on provisions, refilled our gas cylinders (with some creative jugaad!), and serviced our 35-year-old engine as part of its 300-hour maintenance. Soon, we set sail for Tioman Island, one of Malaysia’s most beautiful destinations, famous for its turquoise waters, turtles, and coral reefs. Along the way, we navigated busy shipping lanes near Johor Bahru, dodged merchant vessels, and found joy in the small moments of couple sailing life. Join us aboard SV Reeva, our 12 m sailing yacht, as we take on one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world — the Singapore Strait. This action-packed episode is full of adventure, adrenaline, and emotional goodbyes. After a stormy night with our anchor dragging dangerously close to Singapore waters, we embarked on a 70-mile passage from West to East Johor Bahru, navigating squalls, strong currents, and hundreds of massive cargo and container ships. With favorable currents, Reeva reached a record speed of 9 knots, weaving through 400-meter tankers and fast-moving vessels. After 11 intense hours, we made a safe landfall at Senibong Cove Marina, a quiet and sheltered inlet at Sungai Lunchoo — the perfect spot to rest and recover. This episode is also a farewell tribute to our crew mates, Apoorva and Swaroop, as they return to Switzerland. @the_reeva_project Join us in Season 4 Episode 4 for an episode that had it all — history, storms, laughter, and one of the most challenging crossings in the world! We set sail from Pulau Besar, near the beautiful and historic Malacca City, and headed to Pulau Pisang — at the southernmost tip of the Eurasian continent. On reaching there, we planned a chilled “weekend evening” with the crew cooking the , cooking the worst food we’ve ever made on Reeva — so bad, it had to be thrown overboard! 😂 Still, with good company came lots of laughter, making it a memorable night. From Pisang we did a small hop to a seemingly sheltered anchorage between Johor Bahru and Singapore. Plan was to sleep early for a restful night and start our Singapore Straits passage at 0430 to catch the 3 knot tide. But the night was anything but peaceful, at 3 a.m., just hours before our planned crossing, a rain squall hit with winds of 35–40 knots. Our anchor dragged, the chain snagged, and the snubber broke — chaos in the dark. After two exhausting hours, we finally got things under control. With the storm behind us, we lifted anchor at sunrise and set out towards the infamous Singapore Strait. 👉 Join us for storms, laughter, friendship, and the much-awaited crossing! S04E02 We set sail from Langkawi to Pangkor — a 130 nautical mile passage that took us 28 hours. This was our new crew, Apurva and Swaroop’s, longest sailing passage yet! ⛵💪 We arrived at Pangkor Marina — a true haven for boaters, known for how quickly and efficiently boat work gets done here. While in Pangkor, we took a day off to explore the island and indulge in local flavours. We visited the Foo Ling Taoist temple, a Hindu temple (Kali Amman Temple), the historic Dutch Fort, and Pangkor’s very famous Coral Beach. A bit about Pangkor: Pangkor Island, off the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, is a small tropical gem known for its fishing villages, rich cultural mix, and laid-back charm. Historically, it was a key stopover for traders — from the Dutch to Chinese and Indian settlers — leaving behind temples, forts, and a vibrant local heritage. Today, it’s a blend of quiet beaches, delicious seafood, and a slower pace of life. After a fulfilling day of exploring, we set sail again — heading further south towards our next adventure. Sailing India to Malaysia After 3 grueling days at sea battling 35+ knot winds, 3-4m swells, and engine troubles, we finally neared Thailand’s Koh Similan Islands. Welcomed by a stunning sunrise and a breathtaking moonset, we made a much-needed stop to rest, clear an entangled rope from our prop, and regroup before our final push to Langkawi. Armed with updated weather data, we set sail again—facing the looming threat of a thunderstorm. Hugging the Phuket coast, we crossed the iconic Big Buddha statue and took temporary shelter near the southern tip of the island. While the storm hit hard that night, we leaned on the age-old wisdom of local fishermen, who proved right once again. With 24 hours to go, the sea gifted us one last curveball: calm glassy waters with no wind. From violent squalls to perfect stillness, this passage tested every ounce of our seamanship, endurance, and spirit. And no each other. In the second part of our passage from Port Blair to Langkawi, things got even more intense. With just three of us onboard SV Reeva, battling 25–30 knot winds, 3–4 meter swells, and a surprise engine failure mid-passage, this leg tested every ounce of seamanship and resilience we’ve built. As weather conditions worsened, our engine refused to start—fuel wasn’t reaching the engine. With the boat rolling 30–40 degrees in high seas, we had to replace fuel filters, clean the mini de-bug system, and troubleshoot under brutal conditions. Meanwhile, Kaeya kept watch, managing sails and tracking wind speeds like a pro. With no real-time weather updates (our Iridium Go was inactive due to a SIM issue), we were relying on 72-hour-old forecasts, adjusting course toward the Similan Islands in Thailand. After three grueling days, we reached the Similan Islands, picked up a mooring, and finally got some much-needed rest. From engine repairs at sea to full moon sailing, this passage was a masterclass in liveaboard life, seamanship, and teamwork. Our journey back from Port Blair to Langkawi—a 650+ nautical mile passage—was nothing short of intense. As the last sailboat to leave the Andaman Islands before the South West monsoon set in, we were prepared for a challenging sail, but nature had its own plans. Day 1 started smoothly as we cleared out of India, but the weather quickly turned. We were hit by gusty WNW winds touching 25 knots and rolling 3-meter swells. With reefs in our mainsail and staysail, and some hearty Indian food to fuel us (yes, we had momos, roti, and paneer!), we pushed ahead. Kaeya had a magical moment spotting her first pod of dolphins alongside Reeva. Despite all our preparations, the sea threw everything it had at us—strong winds, relentless rolling, and tough sail trimming. The conditions pushed us physically and mentally. Eventually, we had to make a tough call and divert course toward Thailand, hoping for a break from the squalls. But that wasn’t the end—Reeva’s engine failed at night, adding yet another layer to what became one of our toughest sailing passages yet. This is Part 1 of our passage—a test of seamanship, endurance, and spirit. Stay tuned for Part 2 where things get even more real. On our final day with DiveIndia, we joined forces with the incredible Kachrewaale_thewastepeople team—led by Anne Philip and supported by Ruth, our DiveIndia instructor—to clean up the Meetha Nallah, one of Havelock’s few freshwater streams. It was inspiring to see people from all walks of life come together for a meaningful cause. In just a few hours, we collected over 105 kg of plastic waste! To wrap up an unforgettable week of diving, the DiveIndia team visited Reeva for one last hangout filled with laughter, stories, and promises to meet again—above and below the waterline. With the diving chapter closed, we returned to Port Blair, waiting for a good weather window before the Southwest Monsoons kicked in. As we prepped Reeva for our longest passage yet—an open-ocean crossing of over 600 nautical miles from Port Blair to Langkawi—we took time to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and say our heartfelt goodbyes. One highlight was hosting the Honorable Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands onboard Reeva. His kind words and thoughtful gesture of homemade snacks made our farewell even more memorable. As the last sailboat to leave Port Blair this season, we stocked up on all our favorite Indian food and supplies. With winds gusting over 20 knots, we set sail as a family once again—grateful, hopeful, and ready for the next chapter at sea. This week aboard SV Reeva, our sailing journey takes a new turn—as we go from sailors to certified divers! We wrap up our Open Water Diver and Advanced Adventurer certifications with DiveIndia @diveindiaandamans7933 SSI India, diving deep into the vibrant reefs of Havelock Island. In our final Open Water dives, we came face to face with incredible marine life: Blue-spotted stingrays, two curious octopuses, lionfish, and a graceful moray eel. Each dive opened our eyes to the magic of the underwater world. During the Advanced Adventurer course, we took on five thrilling specialties: Night diving (an unforgettable experience!) Perfect buoyancy Navigation Fish ID Underwater photography One unforgettable moment came when our boat captain Joel spotted an Olive Ridley turtle trapped in a net. In a heartwarming rescue, our dive instructor Vijay, diver Akhil Gogo, and Kaeya leapt in to set the turtle free—watching it swim away was a memory we’ll treasure forever. After 6 days and 10 dives, we’re now SSI Advanced Adventurer divers, and we’re so grateful for this new skill and experience. In this week’s episode aboard SV Reeva, we spend a few incredible days anchored between Peel Island and John Lawrence Island, seeking shelter from unfavorable weather north of Havelock. This spot is known for its natural beauty—and crocodiles! We spotted two crocs, making it clear that the Andaman crocodile scare is very real—so, no more swimming here! As we entered Haddo Anchorage, a surprise squall greeted us. But we made the most of the downpour, giving Reeva and ourselves a much-needed freshwater rinse to wash off all the salt. It was time for Arnav’s final engine routine before signing off. We topped up the oil on our Yanmar 55hp engine, which had clocked just 86 hours in 2.5 months—a pretty efficient run for Reeva! Back in Port Blair, we celebrated Holi, caught up with friends, and were deeply touched to meet several followers of The Reeva Project—what a joy to connect in person! A highlight of the week was hosting 14 young Sea Cadets from the Sea Cadet Corps who sailed over in their Lasers and Optimists. Their enthusiasm and energy were absolutely infectious, making it a truly memorable morning. We also welcome Kaeya back onboard—super excited to sail together again! Next week, we’re heading to Havelock again for our diving adventures with Dive India! Subscribe and join us on this beautiful journey through the Andaman Islands by sailboat.
