Join Jude and Richard from Sailing Helios for a full walkthrough of the brand-new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 455 straight from the Düsseldorf Boat Show 2026! This 45-footer (LOA 14.28 m) is already one of the stars of the show — it had an incredibly strong debut with 8 boats sold on the floor alone. Jeanneau has nailed the perfect mix of performance sailing and liveaboard comfort, and we were seriously impressed by how cleverly they’ve used every single inch of space. In this episode, we show you everything we loved most: • The massive forward sail locker (sailors are calling it a true “monster” — easily one of the best in class) • The brand-new integrated workshop/storage area (our absolute favourite — it easily fits tools, spares, washer/dryer, extra fridge or even ventilated produce storage) • The bright, spacious interior that feels way bigger than 45 ft • Clever storage solutions everywhere, ergonomic cockpit, walkaround decks and a layout that’s perfect for short-handed cruising or family adventures Reviewers and visitors at the show are raving about it being “practical, user-friendly, ergonomic and one of the best cruising boats in its class” — with thoughtful design that makes real-world sailing and living aboard so much easier. We really like this boat — it just feels right. What do you think — would the new Sun Odyssey 455 make your shortlist? Drop a comment and let us know! 👍 Like if you love smart boat design 🛥️ Subscribe to Sailing Helios for more boat tours, boat show coverage and sailing adventures! What is life really like on a sailboat in Thailand? For the past two months, we’ve been exploring remote islands, sailing in steady 20–25 knots, snorkeling coral reefs, visiting small fishing villages, and living full-time aboard our 39-foot sailboat, Stella — with Jesse’s whole family (and our kitten Shelly 🐾) onboard. In this episode, we share a real look at everyday life on the water: - Sailing between tropical islands -Picking up mooring balls & anchoring in turquoise bays -Snorkeling and checking the boat underwater - Growing food onboard - Cooking meals together - Sunset haircuts on deck - Quiet anchorages with no wind This is the simple, beautiful rhythm of sailboat life in Southeast Asia. Thailand has given us some of our favorite memories yet , warm water, kind people, and anchorages we’ll never forget. Next, we sail back to Malaysia to prepare Stella for our next adventure. 💙 A huge thank you to everyone supporting us on Patreon — you truly help make this sailboat life possible. Leaving the Suez Canal behind, we sail into the Red Sea — and immediately feel the shift. The heat is relentless, nerves are high, and this stretch of water demands attention. In these first miles, we’re not pushing limits yet… just learning what the Red Sea is going to ask of us. Between adjusting to the conditions, a spontaneous onboard haircut, and a calm moment that turns chaotic when we hook a massive tuna, things escalate fast. And then comes the fishing blooper of a lifetime — somehow, in the chaos, the fish spits the hook… straight into me. By the end of the episode, we’re fully committed, deeper into the Red Sea, and mentally preparing for whatever comes next. This is only the beginning. #bumsonaboat #RedSea #SailingAdventure #SailingLife #SuezCanal #OceanAdventure #SailingVlog #BlueWaterSailing #Liveaboard #OffshoreSailing #SailingYouTube #AdventureAtSea #LifeAtSea #SailingJourney #OceanLife

From Clarence Town to Calabash Bay - 45 Nautical Miles Along Long Island, Bahamas. Wind & Waypoints!
A peaceful but powerful sail along Long Island, Bahamas. In this episode, I leave Clarence Town and sail north along the entire length of Long Island to Calabash Bay — about 45 nautical miles of changing winds, currents, and open water. With steady following winds reaching 25–27 knots, the boat settles into her rhythm. Autopilot locked on waypoints, sails trimmed, generator running, water being made — sometimes it’s best to just let the boat work and enjoy the journey. The weather is shifting. Cooler air from the north, darker skies, and a stronger system coming in a couple of days. Choosing the right anchorage becomes important — protection matters out here. Along the way, I reflect on: Route planning and navigation Wind and sail decisions Life aboard during longer passages Upcoming plans for the Exumas and George Town No rush. No drama. Just honest sailing in the Bahamas. If you enjoy real sailing, thoughtful navigation, and life at sea — you’re in the right place. 🌊⛵
Thomas Coville and his team aboard the foiling Ultim trimaran Sodebo-3 have set a new non-stop record around the world and in doing so has taken the Jules Verne Trophy. The team's new record pace takes over 12 hours off the previous record and yet impressive though it is, the achievement represents a great deal more. In the closing stages severe weather came close to derailing the campaign and put huge amounts of pressure on the team. Since the record was set in 2017 there have been 13 unsuccessful attempts at beating it, Coville accounted for three of them, that's how hard this record is to achieve and why Coville's success is seen as such a major achievement. But still there is more to this Jules Verne season - This is a story of not one but two campaigns. The second trimaran, IDEC Sport had set the previous record and now known as The Famous Project, was attempting its own non-stop lap. If successful they too would enter the record books as the first ever all women crew to complete a non-stop lap pf the planet. But they too were facing a serious dilemma as to how best to handle the weather that was threatening to block their path at best and derail their entire campaign at worst. So, in part 3 of our Jules Verne coverage we look at how the final stages of the two Jules Verne attempts played out. This week, we’re heading to the United Arab Emirates, home of this episode’s featured yacht—the stunning Portofino 52. Join us as we explore its features, compare it with other vessels, and dive into a celebration of maritime culture, art, and wine. Here's what’s coming up: What’s On Deck: 1. Portofino 52 Deep Dive: We’ll review the specifications, pricing, and layout of the Portofino 52, comparing it against three similar yachts to see how it stacks up. 2. A Full Yacht Tour: Let’s explore every detail, inside and out, with our signature “What would Sylvia say?” evaluation. 3. Tech Spotlight – SEAFLO Dry Bilge System: This week’s innovation is the SEAFLO Dry Bilge System, designed to keep your bilge completely dry and your yacht in pristine condition. 4. Used Yacht Market Analysis: We'll review 3–5-year-old comparable models to understand resale value and market trends. 5. The Dave Score: After an in-depth review, we’ll assign the Portofino 52 its official Dave Score and rank it among previously featured yachts. Waves, Wine, and Art: This episode is about more than just yachts. We’re celebrating the culture and artistry of the regions that bring these vessels to life. • Wine of the Week: From Italy, we highlight the Conterno Fantino Barbera d'Alba Vignota 2018. This exceptional organic wine is known for its rich flavors of sour cherry, cassis, and tart cranberry, earning a stellar 93 points from The Wine Advocate. A true reflection of its Monforte d’Alba roots! • Art of the Region: We feature Chapeau! (2024), an exquisite acrylic-on-linen painting by Claire Denarie-Soffiettis. This vibrant piece captures the spirit of adventure and creativity, much like the yachts we love. Innovation Spotlight: SEAFLO Dry Bilge System Keeping your bilge dry is now easier than ever with SEAFLO’s patent-pending Dry Bilge System. Traditional bilge pumps leave behind water, leading to issues like mold and odor. The SEAFLO system removes all standing water, enhances your yacht’s integrity, and extends the life of pumps and switches. Self-priming up to 25 feet and easy to operate, it’s a must-have for any yacht owner. Join the Naval Gazing Crew! Love what you’re seeing? • Subscribe!
