Day 9 of our Atlantic crossing tested everyone on board. The wind couldn’t decide what it wanted to do, the swell stayed big and confused, and the boat rolled relentlessly from every direction. We improvised a headsail pole using the boom, dealt with broken jars and flying cabinets, bruises, cuts, and a galley that fought back all day. Simple tasks took hours, emotions ran high, and exhaustion crept in. Despite the chaos, Eva kept moving. Fully reefed, surfing waves, and holding steady as we adjusted course north in search of better conditions. Dingo’s ear continues to heal, the dogs remain endlessly adaptable, and somehow dinner still got made. This is the reality of life offshore when the ocean turns into a blender—no drama added, just day-to-day survival, problem solving, and trying to keep morale afloat.
