En Francia es obligado llevar una batería de seguridad: activada y disponible en conexión rápida. Esa ya la lleva el barco (interruptor S de "Securité"), yo añado esta otra para ser redundante. Recordad amigos: "Pensad aeronáuticamente". Lo imprescindible llevadlo por duplicado, o triplicado. Gracias a todos y buena proa en la vida.

It is Sunday of Thanksgiving Week, we decided to get started with the hull repairs on our #sailboat We have already removed the thru hulls, rudder, propeller and were surprised by the amount of #damage done by low level #current to the bronze components under water. Low level current actually ate up the tin on the bronze components making them brittle and unreliable. It also corroded and damaged our thru hulls to the point that we were not able to service them and had to resort to grinding the mushroom heads from the outside in order to remove the thru hulls for replacement. In the process of removing the thru hulls we took a little bit too much #fiberglass , so we have to repair the outside of the thru hull in order to install new Marelon components. This time we are going to use an independent thru hull and separate bulb valve. That way if the valve fails in the future we can service it without taking the boat out of the water. We also look at the strut that supports the shaft and the cutlass bearing. We will be removing and replacing both of these. Lastly we patch out thruhulls and moved to repairing blisters on the hull. Our hull has a lot of little blisters form the size of the tip of a pencil to the size of a dime. This is the result of the materials used back in 1985 on some of these hulls. The good news is that all of them are superficial and we do not have any issues with delamination. In talking to various experts and yards, we could not get consensus on the best way to tackle this project. Some folks suggested peeling the hull. This process using a special grinder to remove all of the gelcoat and in some instances the first layer of fiberglass from the hull. This can get very costly as in addition to removing the material, you have to build the hull back up which is time consuming and expensive. Other experts were dead against pealing for some of the reasons explained above. For Reverie we decided not to peel and to tackle the repair of the blisters. As you know we had the hull sandblasted and the blisters opened at that time. We received two recommendations: - Use Interlux Watertite Epoxy Filler - Use thickened Epoxy (West System Epoxy with filler) So we decided to do a test on various sections of the hull to see which one turns out better. Notre arrivée avec Sea Pearl a été une immersion immédiate dans une nature d'une beauté stupéfiante. Les falaises volcaniques, déchiquetées et drapées d'une végétation luxuriante, plongent à pic dans un océan d'un bleu profond. Les vallées, profondes et verdoyantes, abritent des cascades majestueuses et des rivières sinueuses. C'est une symphonie de verts et de bleus, ponctuée par le rouge éclatant des fleurs d'hibiscus et le jaune vif des tipaniers. Mais au-delà des paysages à couper le souffle, ce sont les habitants des Marquises qui ont rendu cette découverte si mémorable. Leur accueil, empreint d'une chaleur et d'une sincérité rares, nous a profondément touchés. Nous avons partagé des moments simples et authentiques : des repas préparés avec les produits du fenua (la terre), des chants mélodieux sous les étoiles, et des récits fascinants sur leur culture et leurs traditions ancestrales. La richesse de l'art marquisien, visible dans les sculptures sur bois, les tatouages complexes et les parures de fleurs, témoigne d'une identité forte et fière. Nous avons exploré des sites archéologiques énigmatiques, témoins d'une civilisation ancienne et puissante, et nous nous sommes sentis connectés à une histoire millénaire. Chaque pas sur ces terres sacrées était une révélation, une plongée dans un passé où les dieux et les hommes vivaient en harmonie. Les Marquises ne sont pas seulement une destination, c'est une expérience qui éveille les sens et nourrit l'âme. Elles nous ont offert une parenthèse enchantée, loin du tumulte du monde, et nous ont rappelé l'importance de la simplicité, de la connexion à la nature et de la richesse des échanges humains. Nous sommes repartis vers les archipels des Tuamotus,le cœur rempli de gratitude et d'images inoubliables, avec la certitude que ces îles, sauvages et authentiques, resteront à jamais gravées dans nos mémoires.

With check in complete, we are now free to roam and enjoy what Greece has to offer. After a 3 hour motor-sail we arrive at a relaxing little area called Notos. We drop anchor in just a few metres of water and head to the beach. Our buddy boat The Responsible Choice join us here and we have dinner at.a local restaurant trying traditional Greek dishes and admiring the view. Here we meet new boat friends who also have children onboard and he kids hit it off. It was so nice to see them playing and happy. We didn’t even know this wave existed… After spotting something from the drone, we made the call to go for it , even if it meant leaving Stella anchored in a shallow coral lagoon with zero room for error. While one of us stayed back to watch the boat, the other paddled out to a wave we’d never seen before… in a place where no one else was around for miles. But getting there wasn’t easy. We had to land the dinghy on the opposite side of the island, ask permission from a local family, and hike through the jungle — hoping it would all be worth it. And somehow… it was. Perfect, empty waves breaking over shallow reef — the kind of surf you dream about… but rarely find. Out here, it’s always a balance of risk and reward. And this time… it paid off. After the surf, we head into a local village in search of food, meet some incredible people, and end the day back on Stella — where real life kicks back in (yes… laundry included). We always try to live as lightly as possible out here, using eco-friendly products that are safe for the ocean and reef we depend on. Marjolein doesn't really feel like going into the water in the dark, but together we jump into the deep :) On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'. Oh Man! Editing this episode came with a little breakdown. Is there even content here to make a video? Is it too depressing? And it resulted in the video being posted two weeks late. At least! Due to no motivation. Honestly. We can't really skip a part of our journey, and even though this content might lean towards depressing, there was a lot of NEWS during this time, that majorly affected our following weeks in the Bahamas. We had to question weather or not to keep SAILING, and also our safety during the evolving pandemic. Cody got an ear infection and couldn't FREEDIVE for a few days, that definitely affected his mood... especially when we got to explore a super cool CAVE - and I got some disturbing intel from home in Norway.
