We end the sail with a rather blustery anchorage. How windy was it? I don't know...but listen to why I don't think that's a bad thing. Creamy Lemon Sardine Spaghetti INGREDIENTS 8oz - 225g spaghetti or linguine 1 small shallot, very finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1 tbsp capers, drained Zest of 1 lemon 2 tbsp lemon juice ½ cup white wine 1 can sardines in olive oil (4.4 oz -125g) 2 big handfuls baby spinach 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 3 tbsp butter 2 tbsp chopped parsley Fine sea salt Black pepper 2-3 tbsp olive oil toasted breadcrumbs Optional pinch of chili flakes DIRECTIONS Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil and cook the pasta until just under al dente. In a large frying pan over medium heat, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add the spinach and cook for 30 seconds until wilted. Set aside. To the same pan, add the remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil and the shallot. Cook gently for 2 minutes without colouring too much. Add the garlic, capers, lemon zest and optional chili flakes. Cook for about 30 seconds. Add the sardines with a little of their oil and break them up gently so some pieces stay chunky. Add the white wine and lemon juice, then reduce by half. Lower the heat right down, then add the butter and stir until smooth and glossy. Add the drained pasta and toss continuously until glossy and coated. Add pasta cooking water as needed. Toss in the spinach and finish with parsley and black pepper. Taste before adding salt, the sardines and capers may already do the heavy lifting. With the anchor dropped and checked in the crystal clear water of Gordon's Bay, yet another barracuda keeps an eye on Lisa. We borrow a friend's truck and search Long Island for 15W40 oil for our weeping engine. A power failure sends Captain Dave into repair mode when the inverter reports critically low batteries while the battery BMS insists they're fine. Und die nächsten Gewitter und starken Böen sind bereits angekündigt. Schließlich finden wir in Guidaloca einen Platz für die Nacht. Aber lange hält es uns dort nicht: Wir müssen zurück nach Castellammare del Golfo. In einem Tabacchi wartet ein Paket mit einem dringend benötigten Ersatzteil für unseren Wassermacher. Viel Wasser haben wir nicht mehr – deshalb muss die Reparatur unbedingt funktionieren. Während der Wind immer stärker wird und es am Ankerplatz zunehmend eng wird, bereiten wir uns auf die Weiterfahrt vor. Nach gefühlten drei Wochen im Golf öffnet sich endlich ein Wetterfenster. Wir setzen die Segel Richtung Capo Zafferano – und kommen unserem nächsten großen Ziel, den Liparischen Inseln, wieder ein Stück näher.
