In between: frigatebirds, boobies, noddies, turtles, and coconut crabs in one of the most remote corners of the planet. A voyage of wildlife, wonder, and on-the-fly repairs.

In this episode, we follow the strange history of Lady Hawk, once the Danish fishing cutter Tourup, E.502, and a North Sea disaster that may have changed her forever. One story says she capsized in 1964, losing her wheelhouse and part of her deck. Another places a remarkably similar event years later. Both say she disappeared for seven days. As we reef the decks, forge new tools and dig deeper into her stern, the physical evidence starts raising even more questions. Missing structure, moved frames and decades of distortion seem to point toward a major rebuild in her past. But human memory is a strange thing. The more we remember a story, the more we can unknowingly change it. Somewhere between the stories handed down through generations, the scars hidden beneath Lady Hawk’s covering boards, and the bottom of the North Sea… is what actually happened. And whatever happened then, we’re dealing with the consequences now. Lady Hawk’s restoration continues, and the Barefoot Raid is getting very close. After crossing 125 nautical miles from Sardinia to Bizerte and spending 8 days exploring Tunisia, it’s time to make the 25-hour passage back to Europe. But first, we need to clear Tunisian customs and the coast guard before setting sail across the Mediterranean. We're heading towards Sicily, sailing overnight, battling light winds, dealing with seasickness and tackling a long offshore passage before finally reaching the beautiful island of Marettimo. Our final destination is Trapani, Sicily, where we’ll attempt to officially re-enter the EU, check back into the Schengen Area and restart our 18-month EU VAT Temporary Admission period. ____________________________________________________________ Hey!
