Definitely a sailing for beginners video because it was a first time for all of us sailing these rough seas! However, later we learned the invaluable lesson of cruising on the leeward side of islands- where the waves would have been a lot less scary! Sailing through storm after storm on the windward side, finding clear skies became quite the task.While crossing and anchoring in the shallow Exuma Bank, we almost ran aground and then were bashed by a rage in the middle of the night! Learn from us and try to cruise a little better ha! The Passage's South book helped a lot. It was a wild and bumpy ride, so bumpy in fact that MoonShadow actually sprung a leak in her bilge and then started to take on water. Not to fear, the locals of Cabbage Hill in the remote and desolately populated Crooked Island Archipelago showed us the brighter and more humbling side of the Bahamas. They graciously accepted us in their harbor and were very hospitable until we finished the boat repairs. On Crooked Island we explored to pick fresh fruit from the hurricane stricken trees still standing, bought some hard to find liquor out of the back of a truck, and even had the chance to witness one of their most exciting events that happens on the island... (surprise surprise there!) Next stop, Turks and Caicos where we learned the more suffering one goes through, the better the fresh fish taste! Thanks for being awesome and following our explorations! Thanks for the title David, we really love it! In this episode Matt starts with the sanding of our bottom so that we can get it ready for paint. Inevitably in a few spots he goes through down to bare metal, which means they need to be primed again with our Interlux Innerprotect before any of the new bottom paint can go on. We also make a trip from Praia to Angra do Heroismo to visit our friend Carlos and pick up a few packages he's been holding for us. We were a little surprised to find a few have been held up in customs and then went on a search to see if that could get taken care of. It was fruitless. And here's why: There are fish attraction devices (FADs) everywhere, including in extremely deep water, they don't have lights and you can't see them on radar. And if you're not worried about hitting a random FAD, you have all the fishing boats to contend with. They are EVERYWHERE and have no regard for the "rules of the road" or proper navigational lights. If you manage to stay clear of everything, you still have the wind to contend with. Since you're close to the equator, the winds are light to begin with and then the tall volcanic islands exert their strange influence. This passage from Bali to Borneo had a bit of it all, but fortunately, even though the sailing itself isn't great, what awaits on land helps make up for it! Thanks for watching! http://www.britishsailingteam.com John Gimson has been a formidable force on the Olympic circuit for more than a decade across a wide range of classes from 470 dinghies to Tornado catamarans, Star keelboats to the foiling Nacra 17 multihull. Having grown up sailing GP14s with his dad at Redesmere Sailing Club near Macclesfield, Gimson soon got the racing bug, winning the National 12 Youth Championships at a young age. In 2001 he was crowned national champion in the 29er class, and came runner-up at the class world and European championships, paving the way for a glittering senior career. Burnet spent seven years campaigning the 470 alongside British Sailing Team and best friend athlete Flora Stewart before making the jump into the high performance Olympic classes in 2016. Gimson and Burnet teamed up the same year and have since proven themselves a skilled crew, capable of world-class performances.

Fucina di idee i ragazzi napoletani dietro alla maniglia pieghevole hanno studiato anche un packaging ecologico perché utile e riutilizzabile: il sacchetto con cui arriva la maniglia è un copriwinch in neoprene, il pezzo di imballo che tiene la maniglia ferma duramte il trasporto diventa un sottobicchiere da cui possono essere presi tre portachiavi galleggianti. Dramatic RNLI footage shows a 25-foot yacht with two people onboard stuck on rocks off the Anglesey coast. Holyhead RNLI volunteers were called at 1.52pm on Sunday 19 May and quickly launched their all-weather lifeboat. The yacht had gone aground on the rocky island of The Skerries, approximately two miles from the coast at Carmel Head, Anglesey. On arrival, it became clear to the lifeboat crew that the vessel could not be moved due to the low tide. The lifeboat crew launched the lifeboat’s Y-boat to check the condition of the casualty vessel and brought the yacht’s crew of two onboard the lifeboat and returned them to safety at Holyhead at around 5pm. After consulting with Holyhead Coastguard, the volunteer lifeboat crew re-assembled at 7pm, along with the yacht’s owner, and launched the station’s inshore and all-weather lifeboats. The inshore lifeboat was then able to manoeuvre the yacht into a safe position. The lifeboat crew waited for the vessel to rise with the flooding tide, before being moved into deeper water for a tow to be established by the all-weather lifeboat. The yacht was then towed back to Holyhead Harbour. Holyhead RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager David Owens said: ‘It was a great team effort from all of the crew, who once again showed their immense skill and dedication. Thankfully, both the casualties and our volunteers all returned safely to shore after several hours at sea. ‘This incident shows how, even in calm weather, the tides can render even an experienced sailor helpless. Thankfully he had means of calling for help and did the right thing in doing so.' Holyhead RNLI Coxswain Craig Stalman said: 'It was unusual for us to be called out in such calm conditions, there was a big spring tide of eight knots running around the Skerries, and the crew all worked together to achieve a successful outcome. As we waited for the tide to rise, we were accompanied by dozens of seals who seems to be enjoying the spectacle.'
