This week, we are leaving Cartagena and set sails towards the Balearics! This time a year, the weather in the Mediterranean is still unstable, and we need to make a few stops along the way to dodge some weather. Our first stop is in Mar Menor, an inland lake East of Cartagena. We spend our first night at anchorage there before setting sails towards Calpe. On our way, we pass Benidorm, and one of the highest building in Spain among what looks like Manhattan. Começo finalmente a construção da caixa térmica, que será uma futura geladeira com as devidas instalações. Tomei coragem e cortei algumas prateleiras que já estavam prontas, o que caracteriza a primeira reforma no barco antes mesmo de ir prá água. Resolvi fazer esta reforma por concluir que quando o barco estivesse na água, dificilmente eu encararia este tipo de trabalho. Não me arrependi, pelo contrário, foi além das minhas expectativas, e a caixa térmica ficou bem grande, aproximadamente 120l ou um pouco mais. Os próximos passos desta tarefa será fazer a tampa de acesso para a geladeira e comprar as peças que fazem parte de uma geladeira, como o compressor e o evaporador (o que seria o congelador de uma geladeira). Logo mais cerveja e vinho gelados a bordo! Bóra prá água!

Navigation Station Build Out Part 5: DC basics and hooking it all up. Hello Friends, I couldn't figure out how to edit Parts 5 & 6 into one episode with out it being super long so I broke it up. This episode is short so I am actually posting two episodes this week. On this episode I talk us through my process of starting to hook up the various systems that will need to be wired in to the new switch panel. Navigation Station Build Out Part 6: Completion of the Nav Station Hello Friends, It felt the day would never come... On this episode I finish up (mostly) hooking up the last instruments of the new nav station. I take us through the different elements of the Aft panel and talk about the KJM antenna splitter that my Digital Yacht AIS/GPS/VHF combo antenna and splits the signal between my ICOM VHF radio, Digital Yacht iAis receiver and my new JBL stereo. here is a link to the Combo Antenna I mentioned in the video ( https://youtu.be/OXOBssKPEWg ) Once we get everything hooked up finally get to see the panels all of their glory with lights on and switches switched. A week or so after this video I got a 9' long Sea talk cable in so now everything is hooked up and working on the panels. I also have a special video just about the NMEA 0183 system I will be editing and uploading sometime soon.
