Best whale watching experience in Hervey Bay close encounters paddle boarding and underwater footage
We spent 4 weeks in stunning Hervey Bay with it’s clear waters, magnificent beaches, the best whale watching in the world, spending time with friends and family, paddle boarding, efoiling and treasure hunting.
Is there any other place in the world where you can get whale watching like this other than Hervey Bay Queensland? We decided to learn to foil this year so we purchased a new Flight board and also a Naish wing foil and started the learning process in Hervey Bay.

We had bucket list phenomenal experiences in PNG in the local villages, spear fishing, school visit, watch the locals make sago flour, reading glasses, village life.
We had very strong winds that literally blew us to a very remote village in PNG which turned out to be a phenomenal experience for us. This is what cruising is all about, helping disadvantaged people with essential health supplies including pain relief, first aid kits, medical supplies, solar lights, clothing, towels and basic bedding.
We got incredibly lucky being able to dive the world class MAROVO lagoon, absolutely stunning but unfortunately for the local villagers we did get our time cut short due a very small minority of men having land disputes that were demanding exorbitant anchorage fees.
Stunningly beautiful, rugged, glaciers, abandoned whaling stations, ship wrecks, 150,000 penguins on the beach, seals, massive icebergs.
We did an Antarctic swim, anchored in an active volcano that last erupted in 1970 destroying a British base, get blasted on the cruise ship by 65 knots, penguin action and the most stunning scenery.

Part 2 of our 22 day spectacular expedition in Antarctica on the MS Fram. We continued on with incredible shore landings in the Zodiac’s including being stuck in the ice and also do some snow shoe trekking. Antarctica is the most stunning ferocious place on earth.
