Matsue, capital of Shimane, Japan’s #1 prefecture for centenarians per 100,000 people, continues to reveal its secret to long, healthy life. Yesterday, a businessman told me the answer in one breath: “Stress-free… because we are a good community.” This morning, before I boarded a train, I returned to Matsue Castle and found that truth alive. I joined the Taiso morning exercise group again and chatted before hand with Junko (80), who comes every day, rain, snow, or sunshine to stretch, do Taiso, laugh with friends, and feed the feral cats. Next stop → Kyotango, Kyoto, another longevity hotspot — a City with nearly 3× Japan’s national average of centenarians. Community. Rhythm. Routine. Japan lives it. And it works. Asking $1,145,000.00 For more information please contact Ian Van Tuyl the yacht specialist. Please feel free to contact me at any time day or night and I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully earning your business. 1-(619)-507-4416 ivtyachtsales@gmail.com http://www.ivtyachtsales.com Serenity is unquestionably the best equipped and most heavily optioned Jeanneau 64 on the water today. Her owner has spared no expenses to make her a yacht truly capable of world travel or the ideal island cruiser. The emphasis of the improvements were comfort, functionality, and ease of sailing. These key enhancements have transformed Serenity into a vessel where you can enjoy weekend escapes or longer voyages with ease, making it an ideal choice for live-aboard cruising or entertaining friends and family. The luxurious amenities, cutting-edge technology, and thoughtful layout not only ensure a comfortable experience but also cater to the practical needs of modern sailors. Features like updated cabins, advanced entertainment systems, new North Sails 3Di sails, and efficient cooking and mechanical systems demonstrate a blend of luxury and practicality. Serenity is a three cabin three head layout with crew quarters in the bow. When you first step below, the first thing you will notice is the abundance of natural light in the saloon. Followed by the spacious settees with luxurious upholstery, and a large 60” display networked into both the AV and navigation systems. And the most noticeable item is the custom table that folds to create seating for eight or more. Stepping below to port, you will enter a magnificent galley with upgraded appliances, and a spacious Corian countertop. Adjacent to the galley is a day head. Followed by the owner's cabin aft, where you will find a roomy cabin with a Tempur-Pedic mattress, upgraded lighting, premium Bose sound system and a 50” smart TV. Along with its renovated ensuite head, and large glass enclosed shower. Stepping into the starboard side of the saloon, you will find the mid-ship stateroom, equipped with two bunks stacked on each other, which make a very stable platform when sleeping at sea. This stateroom also houses a large access door to the engine room, as well as the washer and dryer. Thanks to a large refit completed by New England Boatworks in 2022, moving forward to the forward VIP state room, you will notice a big difference in the design from the original layout of the boat. First off, the two forward staterooms have been combined by removing the partition that runs the centerline of the boat. This has now created a spacious cabin that includes two queen size berths with new custom mattresses. This then leads to a spacious VIP head with a glass enclosed shower, and a separate bathtub. With access to the forward crews' quarters through a door in the forward shower. In the crew's quarters you will find two additional bunks, which are perfect for visitors and grandkids. Whether you're sailing across the Caribbean, enjoying a weekend at a marina, or living aboard, Serenity is designed to provide the utmost in comfort and performance.

Fair Isle's top sides have resisted every attempt at renovation. The two weeks we spent 2 years ago cutting the gelcoat back as well as attempts with nano technology ceramic coating have all failed, so painting is our only option. Painting though can be very expensive, prohibitivly expensive for us if we went down the route of taking the mast off and spraying indoors in a controlled environment. Hand painting is also a challenge with Fair Isle because we have routed channels and frankly I think it would be impossible to roll and tip successfully. We have however found a yard in Portugal where were friends of ours have had their boats sprayed very effectively, so we've decided to give it a go. In this episode of Sailing and Cruising the East Coast of the United States, host Bela Musits takes a break from his ongoing trip recap with Mike Malekoff to welcome a special guest: Bob Lattanzio. While recent episodes have chronicled Bela and Mike’s relocation of a Hunter 44 Deck Salon from Brunswick, Georgia to Burlington, Vermont, this conversation shifts focus back to the podcast’s interview format, bringing in fresh insights from another experienced sailor. Bob shares his background, his sailing experiences, and the many lessons he has learned on the water. Together, Bela and Bob dive into what makes sailing such a unique pursuit: the combination of technical skill, patience, problem-solving, and the deep connection to nature that comes with time aboard. For Bob, sailing has been not just a pastime but a way of life that shapes how he sees the world and approaches challenges. Listeners will appreciate the blend of storytelling and practical advice that emerges during the conversation. Bob and Bela talk through memorable experiences, from the highs of perfect sailing days to the lows of unexpected repairs and weather challenges. They reflect on the adaptability every sailor must develop, whether cruising long distances on the East Coast or handling the day-to-day realities of maintaining a boat. The conversation also touches on the community aspect of sailing. Bob explains how friendships formed on the water can be some of the strongest and most enduring. Bob discusses his involvement with the Baldwin Yacht Club and how joining a yacht club can enhance your enjoyment on the water. Key Topics Covered in This Episode: Reflections on a lifetime of sailing experiences. The challenges and rewards of cruising on the East Coast. How adaptability and problem-solving define the sailor’s mindset. The importance of preparation, seamanship, and safety. Stories of memorable days on the water—both good and bad. The unique friendships and community bonds formed through sailing. What keeps sailors like Bob returning to the water year after year. For anyone passionate about sailing, whether you’re just starting out or have logged thousands of nautical miles, this episode offers both inspiration and practical wisdom. Bob’s perspective enriches the ongoing themes of the podcast while standing on its own as a valuable conversation about cruising, connection, and the enduring allure of life under sail. In this episode, I share exclusive footage and new details about the superyacht that was detained in the Bahamas after authorities found weapons and cash on board. The yacht’s owner was arrested and faced a mandatory six-year prison sentence — but he reportedly paid a $1.5 million fine, was banned from the Bahamas, and sailed away to Florida, where U.S. Border Patrol met him upon arrival. This shocking story raises serious questions about money, power, and justice on the high seas. This CNB 66, 'Salty Moments', designed by Philippe Briand and built by Construction Navale Bordeaux, is a semi-custom cruising yacht that perfectly combines performance and luxury. CNB yachts are renowned for their striking design, exceptional build quality, and outstanding sailing performance, and 'Salty Moments' is a shining example. She features sleek, uncluttered teak laid decks with flush hatches, a huge cockpit divided into a dedicated ‘working’ area aft and a generous ‘relaxation’ zone forward, and a hydraulically operated bathing platform that, when lowered, reveals a roomy tender garage. Despite her 66-foot length, this powerful cruiser is remarkably easy to handle with a small crew. Her carbon mast and hydraulic roller-furling carbon V-boom, developed in collaboration with Hall Spars, combined with hydraulic and electric furlers, electric winches, a hydraulic backstay tensioner and boomvang, and a self-tacking jib track recessed neatly into the deck, ensure effortless sail handling and precision control. She is, furthermore, equipped with a full suite of North Sails sails, an extensive Raymarine navigation package (at both helm stations, the mast, and the chart table), a 13.5kW generator, upgraded batteries, and numerous technical enhancements. Power comes from a 180hp Volvo Penta shaft-drive engine, complemented by upgraded bow and stern thrusters, a folding propeller, and controls at both helm pedestals. Additional highlights include a water maker, life raft, carbon bowsprit, carbon steering wheels, carbon gangway, and an electrically operated cockpit table. Also noteworthy is the large sail locker, equipped with a fixed ladder, workbench, and modular storage cabinet system. It’s immediately evident that an external designer was commissioned to create the interior - and the result is nothing short of impressive. The atmosphere below deck is exceptionally inviting, with abundant natural light, a superb quality of finish, and a thoughtful layout that makes this yacht a genuinely delightful place to be. What sets this CNB apart is her unique interior configuration. Whereas the standard layout features one aft cabin, a forward owner’s suite, and two guest cabins amidships, 'Salty Moments' offers a distinctive alternative: a spacious, open executive office replaces the starboard guest cabin, creating an elegant and functional workspace at sea. The main saloon exudes elegance and comfort, with a dining area to port featuring an electric telescopic table, and a generous lounge sofa to starboard. The galley, located aft to port, provides extensive countertop space and is equipped with a Miele stove with a three-zone induction hob, a Miele oven/microwave, multiple refrigerators and freezers, a Miele dishwasher, a Miele washer/dryer, and a Dometic wine cellar. All three cabins are tastefully appointed and designed for complete privacy, each with its own ensuite bathroom featuring a shower, electric toilet, and heated towel rail. Naturally, the entire interior is climate-controlled with reverse-cycle air conditioning, ensuring year-round comfort on board. Entering and exiting constricted waterways by sail and oar can certainly be challenging at times. But then an already small anchorage can get even smaller when other boats decide to anchor there as well. At times I feel like a nautical Houdini (Nau-dini? It's the best I could come up with ...) trying to pilot my eight-ton, engineless craft out of some of our present-day yacht harbors. ORIANDA carries remarkable history and elegance in her strong bones and may be the perfect family yacht. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/781/ORIANDA Massively but finely built and impressively restored, maintained and upgraded, her interior volume is large for a yacht from this period and of this size: two double en-suite cabins, two twin cabins, and a separate crew cabin for three – all exuding pre-war style yet modern comforts; vast space on deck for dining, and sailing - though her staysail schooner rig requires little tending once set. ORIANDA received a new deck less than ten years ago, and a completely new rig in 2022. A classic yacht optimised to stay out of port and large enough to make this an option is a rare thing.

Reconnecting with the ocean, young Polynesians learn how to sail outrigger canoe and the fundamentals of celestial navigation, following their ancestors paths. Modern catamarans were inspired by the double hull canoe that Cook saw in Tahiti. Today, the Pacific Puddle Jump helps close the gap between these 2 cultures. As a member of the PPJ rally you can learn to sail a Holopuni with Teiva, former dinghy and Hobie cat champion, now the passionate leader of a traditional sailing school.

The keel showed signs of corrosion and detachment, making this maintenance essential for the yacht’s long-term safety, balance, and performance.
