Want to see more videos about sailing on the Atlantic or in the Caribbean? Check out here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJX2CvbCChNt8hFuGXnDqx8pl3UGprsO2 More details of our sailing yacht Cocon? Come and check this series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJX2CvbCChNvxDDd0XsyRo3k_38IuvcG0 In my video, I talk about our Atlantic crossing as a couple, a scenario familiar to many sailors. Together with another very experienced sailor, I sailed my COCON from the Canary Islands to Martinique in the Caribbean. People often say that this route is ‘really easy’. But is it really as easy as people say? Although this was already my third Atlantic crossing on this route – in addition to other blue water voyages – it proved once again that no two crossings are the same. That's why I've included separate sections in the video where I share my experiences and points that I consider particularly important. My aim is to give anyone planning a similar trip a realistic insight into what to expect, what to consider, what helps, and what my solutions and suggestions are. The weather during this crossing was very mixed, and we encountered relatively rough conditions at the beginning and especially in the last third. I am all the more pleased that we arrived without any damage to the COCON and without any other problems. A large part of this success is also due to the atmosphere on board: we were a very good team, very experienced, familiar, attentive and harmonious – something that is priceless on long ocean voyages. After 21 days on the Atlantic, we finally reached Martinique. And even though it was my third crossing, arriving is always a special moment, which we celebrate exuberantly with a bottle of champagne.

In this episode, we sail into the world-famous town of Saint-Tropez to finally see what all the fuss is about. The streets are buzzing with tourists in the late-August heat, the boutiques are filled with iconic designer labels, and the harbour is packed with superyachts. We enjoy wandering the charming lanes and soaking in the atmosphere—though the luxury price tags are definitely out of our league! The next day, we hoist the spinnaker and leave Saint-Tropez behind, bound for the Giens Peninsula. What follows is one of our best sails of the entire season. Helios comes alive in the breeze, powering up to 9.5 knots as we scream past Porquerolles. It’s exhilarating… and when we suddenly hear sirens blaring over the VHF, we can’t help but wonder: are we going too fast? SAILING THE AMAZON DELTA where WORLD"S GREATEST SAILOR was killed Thank you for helping keep us afloat and supporting the creative process. You can do so here: - Patreon https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis - Paymate https://www.kerryhamilltrust.com/donate/ - PayPal using our email thecruisingkiwis@gmail.com This week we sail into the vast Amazon Delta, one of the most powerful and mysterious river systems on earth. It's a place of extraordinary beauty, rich culture and warm people, but also a region forever linked to a tragic moment in sailing history. In this episode we reflect on the legacy of Sir Peter Blake, the world famous New Zealander who was killed near the mouth of the Amazon in 2001. His story has shaped how many cruisers think about this part of Brazil, and it's impossible not to feel his presence as we navigate these same waters. But the Amazon Delta is far more than its darkest chapter. We share the reality of sailing here today, the remote communities, the wildlife and the challenges of navigating fishing boats and strong river currents, and the vibrant energy of Belém. Polaris and her crew reach one of the most remote outposts in the Arctic: Bjørnøya (Bear Island). In this episode, we anchor beneath towering cliffs, obtain landing permission, and cross the island to visit its legendary meteorological station, staffed by only nine people. Along the way, we walk through a stark landscape shaped by wind, permafrost and history. We discover old refuge cabins, scattered timber, human graves from the whaling era, and even the remains of a WWII German aircraft still lying across the tundra. The crew of the station welcome us with extraordinary hospitality — from a full facilities tour to the unexpected offer of a sauna and an Arctic skinny-dip, a rite of passage for those daring enough to join the island’s official “nude bathing club”. We also explore the realities of polar-bear safety, extreme weather, drifting ice, and the powerful currents around this isolated island that sits between mainland Norway and Spitsbergen. Finally, as we prepare to sail north towards Spitsbergen, fog rolls in, the swell builds, and we reflect on an unforgettable encounter with the extraodinary people who keep this outpost running — and the deep history of those who once called this harsh island a temporary home. Join us for an extraordinary mix of adventure, history, Arctic wildlife, raw sailing moments and rare access to a remote scientific station. Sailor Alex recounts his experience of being arrested in Tarrafal de Santiago, Cabo Verde, under circumstances he claim were misunderstood. Three months prior, they traveled from Tarrafal Cabo Verde to Dakar Senegal intending to repair his boat engine. After completing repairs, Alex had to leave Senegal by October 22 due to visa restrictions. He decided to sail to Cabo Verde for a brief trip to pick up his friend Wendy before embarking on an African journey with her. He brought three crew members on the journey. Two French world travelers and a Japanese cycling around Africa. On their arrival in Cabo Verde, local authorities insisted they must report to Praia for a formal check-in. Despite being assured by the local officials about the legality of their departure from Senegal, they were confronted by police who accused them of illegal entry and exit without proper documentation. The narrator tried to clarify their situation, showing valid stamps on their passports, but faced resistance from the police. Tensions escalated when the police refused to allow Sailor Alex to return to his boat to rest and recuperate from the tree day journey from Senegal. Frustrated and feeling unjustly treated, Sailor Alex attempted to leave the police presence, which led to a physical altercation. The police subsequently arrested him for resisting arrest, resulting in further distress and injury by putting him in jail for 24 hours until police were issued a search warrant to search his boat Ultimately, the police found nothing and Sailor Alex reflects on the unfolding events and the perception of injustice as he navigates the complex legal landscape in a foreign country. 00:00 Intro 00:17 Found what they needed 01:45 I go to jail 02:43 Got the search warrant 03:46 What are they looking for? 05:31 I'm a YouTuber not a narco 06:57 Where are they taking me? 08:04 Afraid to be free 09:16 Now what? 10:51 Next week Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube! Some of my favorite features? The huge sun deck, the full-beam master suite, and the beautifully finished main salon that makes the whole yacht feel warm and luxurious. She has so many outdoor areas to relax and entertain, and the interior is pure Italian elegance. We got a little private tour with renowned yacht interior designer Giorgio Cassetta and got the full scoop on the intricacies of the design process for this superyacht. Rico was completely in his element in the engine room — the systems, layout, and engineering are exactly what you’d expect from a proper superyacht built for long-range cruising. If you love big outdoor spaces, beautiful detailing, and that classic Italian superyacht feel, you’re going to enjoy this tour! Special shoutout to Capt. Juan, his awesome crew, and of course the owner of this Yacht for hosting us. #BagliettoAndala #Superyacht #NautiStyles 😜 Let me know what you guys think of this one in the comments 2025 BAGLIETTO DOM 133 "ANDALA" SPECS: LOA: 133'2" / 40.6 M BEAM: 28'7" / 8.7 M DRAFT: 7'1" / 2.15 M GROSS TONNAGE: 396 GT FUEL TANK: 10,566 GAL / 40,000 L ENGINES: 2 * CATERPILLAR C32 (1,622 HP EACH) CRUISING SPEED: 15 KNOTS MAX SPEED: 17 KNOTS RANGE: 3,500 NM @ 10 KNOTS HULL: ALUMINIUM HULL & SUPERSTRUCTURE //JOIN OUR NAUTI CREW: https://www.patreon.com/NautiStyles From the start, we have decided to keep our independence & integrity, so we do not accept payments for Yacht Tours and do not "work for hire", this way we can choose and only Tour the vessels we find interesting for our audience. Kotimatkan 7 ja 8 päivä. Kotimatkaa taitettu 120Nm. Vattern järveltä Göta-kanavaa pitkin on päädytty merelle Memiin. Epic Navigato Opening a double-rudder monohull from alongside can be challenging — mainly because the prop wash never reaches the rudders. Instead of pushing the stern out when you turn the wheel, the prop wash goes straight between the two rudders, leaving you with almost zero steering authority. In today’s video, I’m showing you the most reliable and safe technique: 👉 Using the opposite bow spring (opposite spring line) to control the bow 👉 Creating controlled rotation without relying on the rudders 👉 Keeping the stern clear and predictable, even in tight marinas Once you understand this method, double-rudder monohulls become much easier to maneuver. --- FULL TRAINING VIDEOS & EXCLUSIVE CONTENT For full, detailed maneuvering tutorials, slow-motion breakdowns, and real docking sessions, join the paid membership on the channel. --- Train with Epic Navigator – Real Hands-On Coaching** Hands-on training in: • Med Mooring • Alongside docking • Single-handed mastery • Leadership & seamanship • Real-world boat handling Check availability & book your training here: 👉 https://epicnavigator.com/calendar/](https://epicnavigator.com/calendar/ --- Join the Newsletter Stay updated only about: • New training programs • New techniques • Important announcements 👉 No spam. Today we set sail from Virgin Gorda to the unique and beautiful island of Anegada — and it ended up being one of our fastest and most fun sails of the entire BVI trip. With perfect wind, flat seas, and the crew looking amazing on the bow, we made the crossing in record time. Anegada is totally different from the rest of the Virgin Islands. Instead of mountains, it’s flat, sandy, and surrounded by shallow turquoise water. After picking up a mooring, we rented Mokes and motorcycles and explored every corner of the island before ending up at Cow Wreck Beach for a perfect beach day. The water was stunning, the vibes were relaxed, and (as always) the ladies looked fantastic in their bikinis. Back on the boat, we caught an epic sunset over the horizon before heading ashore to Potter’s by the Sea for one of their famous Anegada lobster dinners. If you’ve ever been here, you know it’s a must-do! Thanks for watching and following along on this BVI adventure! At 29.05 m (95’3”) in length with a 7.05 m (23'1”) beam and roughly 187 GT, the 28L delivers true superyacht volume, refined engineering, and a layout crafted for families and serious cruisers who want the presence of a larger yacht in a more manageable size. In a previous video, we toured the Ocean Alexander 32L https://youtu.be/QANq5tp29Ac with OA expert JR Yuse. Today we’re back with JR for a full walkthrough of her smaller sibling the 28L. If you enjoyed the look at the 32L’s scale and features, the 28L shows how Ocean Alexander translates that same design language, craftsmanship, and engineering philosophy into a yacht under 30 m, without sacrificing sophistication. Inside, the 28L features a forward main-deck dining room, an expansive open galley with pocket doors, a beautifully executed salon, a generous sky lounge, and an impressive on-deck master suite. The lower deck offers a full guest accommodation layout and substantial crew quarters. Powered by twin MTU V10 1600 HP engines, with 14,573 L (3,850 gal) of fuel and 2,460 L (650 gal) of fresh water, the 28L stands out for its capability, comfort, and thoughtful design. If you’ve been following the Legend Series or considering your first step into the superyacht world, this walkthrough is a must-watch. At the island of Evia (on the eastside of Greece's mainland with Ahtens), exists a unique place with more than 80 natural springs. The city of Loutra is famous for these hotsprings, where the waters contain many minerals, including calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, and sodium. The temperature of the spring water varies, some springs reach 75–85 °C. We jumped off the boat and swam to shore in about 10 minutes, and we could already feel the water getting warmer. The fascinating thing was that natural rock pools have been formed right along the coastline. You can sit in these baths, use the yellow sand to rub in your body and then rinse it of with the termal waters. Watch the drone video we made flying along the rock pools and ending with a natural 75°C waterfall!

Maui to Vic: A First Ocean Crossing Experience: https://www.practical-sailor.com/voyaging/maui-to-vic-a-first-ocean-crossing-experience On April 27, 2012, during the Newport to Ensenada Race, the Hunter 376 Aegean sailed into North Coronado Island at night. All four sailors aboard were lost. This video does not assign blame. Instead, it looks carefully and respectfully at what is known from the U.S. Coast Guard and US Sailing investigations, the GPS track data, the race context, and the design characteristics of the boat involved. The goal is simple: to understand how a calm night, an autopilot, and human fatigue can intersect in a way that leads to tragedy — and what lessons sailors today can take forward about watchkeeping, awareness, and respect for the sea. Ein authentischer Einblick in das Leben an Bord eines Trimaran auf Langfahrt – zwischen Konzentration, Routine und Faszination fürs Meer.
