It was time to start hand crafting our two rudders, well, time since it was raining and we had to come up with something to do in the rain! Once started, we just kept going, but we also got a lot of work done on the forward Cabin Soles. This video is packed with surprises, starting with a memorable welcome at church from our crazy Polynesian friend! After a fun cycle around the island, we stumble upon the thrilling Heiva band competition just before we welcome our dear friend Robynne aboard Blown Away. With Robynne, we dive into the lagoon's amazing marine life, attend the winners' night of the Heiva dance competition, and marvel at the incredible, decorated boats in the fishing contest before sending her off to her next destination. #borabora #heiva #heiva2025 #frenchpolynesia NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? It would be an honor and pleasure to deepen our relationship with you as a Patron. 🎼 Musiques : Mayan Ritual - Jimena Contreras Music by Fae Spencer from Pixabay family-and-friends-198670 License : Pixabay License https://pixabay.com/service/terms/ Music by a href=https://pixabay.com/users/faespencer-31790355/?utm_source=link-attribution&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=music&utm_content=198670 Claim To Fame - The Grey Room _ Clark Sims Music by Tunetank from Pixabay arabic islamic middle east music 347187 License : Pixabay License https://pixabay.com/service/terms/ https://pixabay.com/users/tunetank-50201703/?utm_source=link-attribution&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=music&utm_content=347187

The Sailboat Market is Dying, Prices Are Crashing HARD!!! The gold rush is over. Everywhere you look, solid cruising boats are sitting for months with no offers. The entire system that held up the dream of ownership is collapsing under the weight of costs and a flooded market. This is a brutally honest deep dive into the mess. We expose 10 reasons for the collapse, including the buyer ghost town, the crush of marina and insurance costs, why overconfident sellers are sinking their own sales, and the rise of repo sales and boat auctions driving prices down. Being in Trinidad right now, there is an element of watching the news and keeping abreast of geopolitical events, due to the tension between the United States, Venezuela and Trinidad. From up our mast we can see Venezuela, so it's much closer than many around the world may realise. After touching on our experiences and through being here, it's back to boat work, continuing with the construction of our custom carbon fiber yacht tables! Now that they've been spray gel coated it's time to start sanding (YAAAAAAAY.....). Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Canon R50 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Back up is a Canon 200d. Action scenes and small blogging is done with an Insta 360 Ace2. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. I also use an Insta 360 and have two drones, a Magic mini2 and Mavic pro Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over several days. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have limited communications with the outside World. Join us in this incredible episode as we set sail through the stunning waters of Moreton Bay and experience a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with whales up close from our liveaboard sailboat. As full-time liveaboard sailors preparing to sail around the world, moments like these remind us exactly why we chose this lifestyle. Whether you're passionate about sailing adventures, fascinated by marine life, or dreaming of travelling the world by sailboat, this episode delivers all the magic of ocean life in one unforgettable day on the water. In today’s sailing vlog, we take our cruising sailboat out into the beautiful blue of Queensland’s Moreton Bay for what we thought would be a casual day sail—until a pod of whales decided to join us. Watch as we navigate under full sail, maintain safe distances, and use proper seamanship while witnessing these incredible giants glide through the water. For beginner sailors and sailboat owners, this episode also offers valuable insights into real-world sailing conditions, wildlife awareness, and what it’s like to handle a liveaboard vessel when the unexpected happens. Our channel is all about the liveaboard sailing lifestyle, exploring the world, and sharing the highs, lows, challenges, and pure joy of life afloat. If you’re curious about offshore cruising, ocean passages, marina life, anchoring techniques, or simply what it’s like to live on a sailboat full-time, you’re in the right place. We document every step of our journey as we prepare for our circumnavigation—one bay, one island, and one adventure at a time. This Moreton Bay sailing episode is packed with real sailing footage, close-up whale activity, and stunning views that highlight why so many people fall in love with the idea of travelling the world by sailboat. If you love sailing videos, yacht life content, cruising vlogs, whale encounters, marine wildlife, or dream of starting your own liveaboard journey, this video is for you. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and follow along as we continue our journey toward becoming full-time world-cruising sailors. From day sails and boat projects to offshore passages and island exploring, we’re excited to take you with us on every mile. Thanks for watching and welcome aboard! It's been two years since our first sail in @SailingAstridTheWombat actually that means it's been a year and a half since our first sail ever. That's right a year ago we bought this Beneteau Oceanis 430 and pulled the sail up for the first time ever when we brought her home. A sail that stretched 700 nautical miles from Townsville in Far North Queensland Australia to Moreton Bay in Brisbane Queensland. We are now preparing to move onboard and to sail around the world. Join us to see the challenges as we continue to learn to sail, prepare our boat and make changes so our boat feels like a home. We are moving onboard in just a few weeks so our sailing dream is getting closer and closer. Each experience we have and each new sailing skill learnt just keeps bringing us closer to taking off to sail around the world in our Beneteau Oceanis 430 @SailingAstridTheWombat living our boat life dream. Today is a big moment for the Spirit Formula 40 Trimaran project. After three years on the hard at Portland Yacht Services, Spirit is finally back in the water — and moving under her own power again. In this video, I take you step-by-step from the yard, off the dock, out through the Casco Bay Bridge, and into Fore Points Marina. It’s the first time Spirit has slipped her lines in years, and clearing that bridge means we now have a long, open runway ahead of us. Next stop: Boston. Spirit will be hauled there for the next stage of her revival and racing program. --- Upcoming Sponsor Events - Maxi 'Osprey' – Limited Places Available: – RORC Caribbean 600 -23 Feb 2026 – Antigua Sailing Week - 22 April 2026 – Newport Bermuda Race 19 June 2026 If you’re interested in joining an event (min sponsorship $3000 US) or exploring further RTW sponsorship options, contact me directly via: https//:www.CSMtheMariner.com Mariner Links If you'd like to buy a piece of the 100,000Nm mainsail that has pulled so faithfully these last 3000Nm, to get me here on time to start the Fastnet, please follow this link to Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/themariner/shop/own-piece-of-mainsail-that-would-not-die-1996232 If you'd like to gain access to live streams, competitions, win sailing trips, or purchase personal marine consultancy, please go over to: https//:www.patreon.com/themariner Sailing Podcasts If you prefer an audio format, try 'The Mariner Podcast', which now has a library of over 130 episodes, all over an hour and in granular depth about sailing technicalities, stories, interviews, and gear reviews. In this episode, we face the hard truth of just how challenging sailing in Brazil can be! Follow us as we head further north towards Recife, making a pit stop at Porto de Suape for a much-needed break. But what was supposed to be a quick rest turns into a serious challenge when Excelsior runs aground. Her portside keel gets lodged on a massive, uncharted coffee rock within the channel. As if that wasn’t enough, our friends on TAO end up stuck in the mud too! Now, we’re stuck waiting for the tide to shift and get us free. Will we make it out unscathed and still reach Recife, or will this turn out to be a bigger setback than we planned for? Tune in to find out! Help Us Grow! The YouTube algorithm has changed, and smaller channels like ours need your support more than ever.

Sailing from Tasmania to New Zealand – 1200 miles across the Roaring Forties. Three weeks of storms, calms, lightning, seasickness, technical failures and unforgettable moments with albatrosses and dolphins. The toughest but most beautiful passage of the last five years. Arrival in Nelson – without an engine, but with a boat full of stories.
