Join me for a peaceful day exploring Fall River in the Deschutes National Forest here in Central Oregon. I took my 1987 Dodge Power Ram W150 down forest roads with no snow on the ground yet, stopped along the crystal clear Fall River, and captured some beautiful drone shots of the river, forest, and the small waterfall that makes this place so unique. In this video: Forest road driving through the Deschutes Calm, spring-fed Fall River scenery Drone cinematics of the river and waterfall Fall River is one of Oregon’s most peaceful spring-fed streams, known for clear water, fly fishing, and quiet forest trails. If you love Central Oregon adventures, nature videography, vintage trucks, or just calming forest scenery, you’ll enjoy this one. Thanks for watching.

Sailing vessel Tapatya This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. In this video, i'm going to be covering the replacement of my trailer axle and hubs. I'll detail; - how to measure up for the new axle - removing the old axle - what to do if the hub is reluctant to go on the new axle - as well as one or two gotchas that you might want to avoid I'll also go into a curious problem I had with the trailer lights. Transcript: So that axle there, trailer axle, is pretty much 40 years old. I don't trust it anymore. So when you're selecting your replacement hub, I find it helped to really draw a good diagram of of the dimensions of the trailer and the existing axle. In particular, you want the hub face to hub face dimension, which on my trailer is 58 and 1/2 in. The other crucial dimension is the leaf spring center to leaf spring center, which in this case is 45 and 3/4 in. The other thing to consider is the rating of the axle, which for the Potter 19 is a 2,200, a 2 in by 2 in box section as shown there. To ensure compatibility, it's best to buy the hubs from the same place you buy the axle. And the particular details you're looking for is the number of studs, which in this case is five studs with a 4 and 1/2 in separation measured across there. Step one is to loosen those lug nuts so that I can remove the wheel later. A little good old PB Blaster. This side's coming off. Okay, time to get a jack under it. Do the same on the other side. Concrete blocks to um add add extra support. That all looks a bit different to the new one. Note the spacer between the leaf spring and the axle. These Ubolts are only 3, four years old. It's coming off pretty easy. Okay, now I'm on to the port side. As you can see, it's a bit wet today. Incidentally, those hubs are only about 5 years old, but they're not galvanized, so they're getting replaced with galvanized hubs. Universally pathetic shipments. That's what UPS stands for. Looks just about the same. Oh dear, there's a hole in the top of the axle. Uh, there isn't one in the new axle. Well, the hub won't go on the spindle. I was instructed to sand here after which the hub fitted. Okay. Okay, kids, don't make the same mistake as me and get you bolts that are too short. You see these new trailers have this adapter to avoid having a hole in the axle. That's what the old one looks like. Consequently, you need the longer Ubolts. That's what I've measured on the inner diameter of the hub. Well, that dimension is greater than the inner dimension of the hub. I found another socket on Amazon that should just about fit. Okay. So, if your brake lights don't work on your trailer, but the running lights are fine, check the ground. I added a separate wire here, that yellow wire, and ran that back independently. And now the light works perfectly. So, the ground is the problem, which if you look at the amount of rust on there, it's hardly a surprise. I'm using this old battery charger as a 12vt source and a drill bit to connect the positive into the connector. clamp the other side of the battery charger to the chassis. Yay, it's working. So, on my trailer, which is apparently ass backwards, that is the passenger side brake light. That's the driver's side brake light. Yay. And that is the tail lights. Yay. And there's the solution. So, what was really confusing was that the old ground was a partial ground that made the brake light look like the tail light. It's things like that that can make you think you're losing your mind. Okay. Well, here's the new socket. There's my old torque wrench. Set it to 50 foot-lb. Yay, it fits. Keep tightening it whilst turning the wheel. There we go. Loosen it off. Retighten it fingertight. Put the nut locking thing back on. Grease it up fully until grease starts to come out. Some new marine grease. Dust cap on and lug nuts on. Now do the port side. Those U bolts are really close to the end of the axle. I presume that's okay. There you can see the gap between the back of the axle and the oil seal surface. Last thing to do is to fit the dust cap which goes on there. It's necessary to encourage it on with a hammer. A lump hammer and a piece of wood was the most effective. Then fit the little rubber cap like that. And that there is the finished job. And there's the other side complete. Curiously, this gap is a bit different on this side compared to the other side. I'll check with the vendor whether that's acceptable. Yay, finished. One day I'll have replaced everything on this trailer. Then she'll be good for another 40 years. Thanks for watching.

See how to get the App at https://www.nauticed.org/sailing-courses/view/virtual-reality-sailing/?utm_medium=youtube&utm_source=VRcatamaran In this video, NauticEd’s Global Director of Education, Grant Headifen, demonstrates catamaran docking in a virtual reality simulator. Wearing a VR headset, Grant stands at the helm of a twin-engine catamaran in a 3D marina environment. The controls behave like a real cat: independent throttles, wheel, forward and reverse, and the ability to split the engines for tight maneuvers. In this session, he: - Brings the catamaran into a tight fuel dock - Dials the wind up to 20 knots blowing off the dock - Uses split throttles to control heading and movement - Sets a spring line and uses engine thrust to bring the stern onto the dock - Shows how this can be done single-handed in a controlled, repeatable VR setting - The goal of this VR simulator is simple: let you practice docking techniques safely at home so that when you’re in a real marina—Croatia, Greece, Caribbean, or your local harbor—you already understand how the boat will respond. When in a tight marina, you will need to perform maneuvers exactly like this one and more. The absolute best way to ensure you can handle what nature throws at you is to practice. But how can you practice? The physics in real life is duplicated in this Virtual Reality training program. The App was designed by MarineVerse VR company. #sailing #virtualreality #simulator #catamaran

Buying a brand-new sailboat used to be a reachable dream for middle-class families, weekend sailors, and anyone with a love for freedom on the water. But in 2025 and 2026? That dream is dead — and today, we’re digging into why. In this sailing documentary, we break down how new sailboat prices spiraled out of control, why a “starter” 30-footer now costs $250,000–$500,000, and how incomes haven’t even come close to keeping up. From the disappearance of small affordable cruisers to the collapse of iconic brands like Catalina, Hunter, and Pearson, the sailing world is changing — fast. We also explore the ONLY thing keeping sailing accessible today: the aging used-boat market. Classic fiberglass cruisers from the 70s, 80s, and 90s are still out there… but even those boats have an expiration date. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a boat, wondered why everything suddenly costs a fortune, or want to understand what’s happening to the future of sailing, this video breaks it all down in a clear, honest, and eye-opening way. 🧭 Chapters: 00:00 Intro 00:16 Sticker shock in 2025 00:54 Price history 1980 vs now 01:16 Income vs boat costs 01:51 Who can still afford new boats? 02:22 The industry has moved on 03:16 The small boat vanishing act 04:10 The used boat fix - and it's expiration date 05:33 Why this matters 05:58 Final thoughts Credits: @BeneteauAmerica @IslandPacketYachts @JeanneauOfficiel @flagstaffmarine @coneysmarine32 @twohalf-hitches @RVLifeNOW ⛵ THE BIG QUESTION: If no one can afford new sailboats anymore… what happens to the next generation of sailors? 💬 Let’s Talk — What Do YOU Think? DAY 4 of our Atlantic Crossing! Somewhere out here in the middle of the ocean, every clock onboard says something different… the chartplotter, our phones, our watches — none of them agree. So we’ve fully given up on “time” and are operating exclusively on vibes and timers (which we also forget to set 😅). This morning turned into a long, slow, peaceful watch with no wind, confused dogs, questionable oatmeal decisions, and a sunrise that made it all feel worth it. Later the wind finally arrived, the engine went off, and the whole crew slowly crawled back to life. Today’s highlights: • Trying to decode the dogs’ needs • A mini sailing lesson about apparent wind • The debate of “to fish or not to fish” • Passage pizza (!!) • Hair braiding traditions returning for Crossing #2 • My book-writing update • Big swells, small naps, and a very overdue Q&A If you have a question for the upcoming Q&A episode, drop it below! If there is one skill thing to learn being a full time sailor, it is patience. We are always waiting for, the weather, a part or in my case here, to go to court. And at this anchorage is really testing my patience. I clean up after the police search and can't find certain things. The swell and waves bounce us around. I nurse an infection I contracted in the jail cell. My computer decides to quit working. This place is cursed! But when the rain comes, it feels that it will wash away the curse. It's coming to the pointy end of the boatyard arrow...and we're pointing it directly to all of the final jobs that have been hanging overhead. This week, Phoebe is away, so Josh rally's his mates to help him bog, fair and paint the hull, calculate the volumes of our onboard tanks, Brett returns to put the cherry on top of our port engines and we tick enough jobs off the list so we can justify the time to...wait for it...CLEAN THE HULL!!! 🌲 WE’RE BACK! New Chapter, New Land, New Life. 🌲 After years away from the channel, we’ve finally returned — but this time, life has taken us somewhere completely unexpected… We bought a woodland. And we’re going to try and build a small, family-run woodland business from scratch. In this video, we bring you up to speed on everything that’s changed since our sailing days: how we ended up swapping the sea for the forest, why we took such a long break from YouTube, and what this new adventure means for our family. 🌿 What to expect from the new Cadoha chapter: Turning raw woodland into a working, sustainable micro-farm Growing gourmet mushrooms on natural logs Woodland management, milling timber, and traditional crafts Trying (and failing!) at new rural skills Wildlife, nature, and restoring the woodland ecosystem The highs, lows, and total chaos of learning everything from scratch Behind the scenes of building a woodland-based business And hopefully… creating a life closer to nature 🌳 Why we’re sharing this journey: We want to document everything — the good, the hard, the funny, and the outright ridiculous — so others can learn what it’s really like to build income from woodland. If you’ve been with us since the sailing days, thank you for sticking around. If you're new, welcome aboard — the adventure’s just beginning. 🔔 Subscribe to follow the journey If you want to see how we turn 0 acres of business knowledge into something that (hopefully!) supports our family, hit subscribe and join us as we figure it all out. This is a new chapter, but the spirit of adventure is the same. Let’s see where this takes us. 🌲💚

This is an exceptional machine. Three years in design and build, the latest maxi Edmond de Rothschild, Gitana 18 has been designed to set new offshore records both fully crewed and solo. And while it’s a bold claim before the boat has even touched the water, there’s very good reason to believe the team when they say that they are expecting a 10-15% improvement in performance. After all, this is the team that led the foiling charge in the Ultim class after years of testing and development on a modified MOD70. Gitana 17 was the first 32m tri to get up onto foils, now it’s standard practice in this elite fleet of maxis. But while G17 was designed to fly in optimum conditions, the new sistership is designed to fly all the time given sufficient breeze and in big seas states. No one has cracked this yet, so to achieve this has required an ingenious and innovative approach. having been built in secret, as the new beast was revealed for the first time, we needed no encouragement to head over to her base in Lorient to see her for real and speak to some of the key players behind this extraordinary machine.
Get ready to sail the high seas of disaster with our new sea shanty, "The Bilge Rat's Confession of Cruising Chaos!" This is the official temporary release of our deep-sea anthem about the hilarious (and very real) struggles of boat life. From sputtering engines and rogue waves to failed repairs and dragging anchors, Chris and Danielle are confessing all the chaos that cruising throws at you. Featuring heavy rhythmic vibes, deep male pirate vocals, and a surprise smooth female voice, this song is for anyone who knows the truth: Cruising is 10% sailing and 90% fixing things in the dark! We sail on debt, and the repairs are bad! We share the chaos, the curse, and the crud, and hope that big pump keeps us from the flood! 🎧 Genre: Sea Shanty, Pirate Chantey, Heavy Bass (20 Hz Sub-Bass). 🎤 Vibe: Slow tempo, heavy rhythmic, humorous, group chorus. #SeaShanty #PirateSong #TheBilgeRatsConfession #CruisingLife #BoatLife #SailingChaos #HeavyBass #SubBass #NewMusic2025 #TempRelease #SailorHumor #CruisingCouple

BoatTEST.com takes the Aquila 46 Power Catamaran out for a full performance review, and right away it’s clear why this model has become one of the most talked-about cruising cats in the mid-size segment. Designed for range, comfort, and offshore capability, the 46 PC sits in that sweet spot between private-yacht livability and real on-the-water performance. On our test day, conditions were almost ideal—5-knot breeze, 76° air temperature—and with six people aboard and roughly 60% fuel, the boat powered up confidently on her twin Volvo Penta D6 480-hp inboards. For a yacht that displaces around 49,000 lbs., the acceleration was surprisingly quick. Handling was equally impressive: in high-speed turns the 46 PC leaned only slightly and settled right back into her groove, giving us predictable, comfortable control throughout the trial. Have you seen the Crew Cabins before? Where does the skipper sleep? The listings for yachts often say 4+2 cabins. And sleeps 10. But what does that actually mean? These compartments are mostly unsuitable for crew to be housed in during the week. Watch here to see why.

For more information about TOGETHER: https://bit.ly/4iXjMJM To contact Charles Herve: https://tinyurl.com/4rs7c7kt TOGETHER Yacht for Sale Length - 95' (28.97m) Builder - Ferretti Yachts Build - 2025 Guests - 10 Cabins - 5 Crew - 4 Asking Price - €8,990,000 TOGETHER is one of the very first examples of the new-generation Ferretti 940 to appear on the brokerage market, and this walkthrough highlights exactly what Ferretti have done to evolve this hugely successful model. From her performance to her new wide-body owner’s suite, improved deck spaces and upgraded features, this is a flybridge yacht designed to compete at the very top of the 90–100ft segment. The yacht measures 28.97m (95'1") with a beam of 6.78m and a draft of 2.3m. She is powered by the largest engine option available: MAN 2200 hp, giving a top speed of around 29 knots and a comfortable cruise of 21 knots. The transom houses a Williams SportJet 435 tender, and the reinforced swim platform can also carry a jet ski if desired. Exterior spaces are a major strength of this model. The aft deck offers 32 square metres of usable space, with free-standing furniture and a glass parapet for improved visibility. The foredeck includes sunpads and a relaxed seating area, while the flybridge—at approximately 50 square metres—features dining for ten beneath an electric hardtop, a full bar with teppanyaki, and large sunbathing areas. Inside, the main deck salon is just under 30 square metres with full-height windows, free-standing furniture and a bright, open feel. A sliding door to starboard allows guests to use the side deck as a private balcony. Forward, the wide-body owner’s stateroom is a significant improvement over the previous Ferretti 920, offering full-beam volume and excellent natural light. Below deck are four guest cabins: three doubles and one convertible twin. Crew spaces include a raised pilot house with excellent visibility, a practical galley to port, a crew mess and two crew cabins for a total staff of four. Delivered in June 2025, TOGETHER benefits from an extended warranty through July 2027, comes commercially registered, and is equipped with zero-speed and underway stabilisers. If you’re considering a Ferretti 940 for sale, researching the latest Ferretti models, or looking for a stylish, fast and highly capable flybridge yacht in the 95ft range, TOGETHER is a yacht well worth viewing. ► Deck equipment manufacturer Wichard unveiled a new anchor swivel at Metstrade, previewing it ahead of its commercial release. ► The purpose of this device is simple: to make anchor retrieval more reliable and avoid those frequent situations where the anchor comes up misaligned and refuses to sit properly on the bow roller. For multihulls, where the height of the bows and the geometry of the bow roller can sometimes make anchor handling tricky, this type of mechanical assistance is particularly useful. ► Available in three sizes, the swivel covers chain diameters from 6 to 14 mm and fits most anchors on the market. It is made of 316L stainless steel, an alloy chosen for its corrosion resistance, which is essential in this critical location of the ground tackle. The unit is positioned between the chain and the anchor, replacing a conventional swivel without adding excessive thickness. ► Its distinctive feature is its asymmetrical design. As Eric Butreau, Wichard’s Marketing and Communications Manager, explains: “The idea is to naturally guide the rotation of the anchor. Even if it arrives poorly oriented, the swivel realigns it with the bow roller.” ► This automatic repositioning limits jolts on the windlass, avoids the need for manual intervention, and smooths out the whole sequence of weighing anchor, even in bigger seas or when the multihull gets caught by a gust. ► Installation is deliberately simple: two pins to remove, a threadlocking glue to apply, and the part is in place in a matter of minutes. It is suitable for both new boats and refits, without any modification to the bow roller or chain lead. ► It is scheduled to go on sale in the first quarter of 2026, with a recommended retail price starting at €90 including VAT for the smallest model. ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► We didn’t manage to catch up with Honda at Metstrade, due to conflicting schedules, but their major new product, a new V6 engine, was unveiled at the show. We finally got to see this new outboard at the Paris Nautic Show with Thomas Delavenne, regional manager of Honda Marine France. ► The engine, available in 200, 225, and 250 horsepower versions, features a completely redesigned look. Understated, more contemporary, and now consistent with the more powerful BF350, the new V6 significantly modernizes the range. While the engine is very attractive, it’s the internal evolution that really makes an impression. Honda has reworked the injection system, which historically could have been improved in certain generations. The result is enhanced acceleration, smoother power and, according to the brand, up to 20% less fuel consumption in certain speed ranges. The exhaust has also been optimized, significantly reducing noise, a sensitive issue on family boats and outboard-powered multihulls. ► Another notable advance is full compatibility with the BF350’s rigging. Controls, wiring harnesses, and electronic logic are harmonized, simplifying original equipment installation and refining twin-engine setups. ► Honda also emphasizes accessories, a feature that Thomas is keen to highlight. The new electronic controls offer a more precise and fluid feel. The electronics now include useful features such as trim support, which automatically adjusts the trim according to speed, and auto-tilt, which raises the engine with a double click without remaining pressed. These are small improvements, but they really change life on board. ► The Honda Pro range of oils and consumables now accompanies these engines, designed to stabilize performance and facilitate maintenance. We depart Stromboli on route to Panerea and are rewarded with breathtaking views of the volcano. Unfortunately, our stay among the Aeolian islands is short due to forcasted high winds in the area of the islands and through the Strait of Messina. The next day is our passage through the Strait where we narrowly miss Charybdis and Scilla and find a breath wind that carries us down the coast of Sicily. We are enchanted by the coastline of Sicily with its dense mountainside villages. Arriving in Taormina, we are happy to find what appears to be a welcome anchorage but suddenly take two hits to the hull from what sounded like BB gun fire as we looked for an anchor spot close to some abandoned buildings. We immediately go out, far and deep and check for damage as evening approaches. In this particular spot, we don't feel comfortable leaving the boat and plan on leaving the following morning.
