Day 5 of our Atlantic Crossing, and we officially hit 25% of the passage — a full quarter of the way across. Last night was rough: confused seas, swell from multiple directions, and a whole lot of rolling. None of us filmed because honestly… we were just hanging on. Today was a mix of tired crew, boat projects, and fixing Dingo’s ear (again). Jade built a new double-sided “steampunk” ear splint out of leftover plexiglass, Brett did a full deck check, we battled our confused solar numbers, gave the dogs baths, and tried to keep the boat happy on wing-on-wing. Oh—and none of our devices agree what time it is anymore. Not a dramatic day, but a real one. Just the middle-of-the-ocean rhythm: naps, soft shackles, fruit baskets, frozen grapes, messy seas, and the slow march westward. Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles Andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. Seitdem lag Squib in der Wiener Kuchelau, und der Refit hatte begonnen. Am 17 August 2025 ist es wieder so weit. Obwohl Squib noch nicht ganz fertig ist, werfen wir die Leinen los und starten unsere erste Etappe donauabwärts. Dreieinhalb Wochen später erreichen wir das Donaudelta, der Mast wird gestellt, ein passendes Wetterfenster abgewartet, in zwei Sclägen überqueren wir das Schwarze Meer bis zum Bosporus. Ohne Einzuklarieren mit gehisster Q Flagge durchqueren wir die Türkei und erreichen 5 Tage später die Ägäis. Über Limnos und die nördlichen Sporaden segeln wir bis in den Großraum Athen, von wo aus Sabina nach Hause fliegt, weil ihr Urlaub zu Ende ist.
