Ein zentrales Thema ist die Haftpflichtversicherung. Sie deckt Schäden an Dritten ab und sollte aus Sicht der Hosts für jeden Skipper selbstverständlich sein. Ergänzend dazu geht es um Kaskoversicherungen für Schäden am eigenen Boot, um Selbstbehalte bei Charteryachten und die Möglichkeit, diese gezielt abzusichern. Besonders komplex wird es bei Bergung und Abschleppen. Die Folge erklärt klar den Unterschied zwischen Schleppkosten und echten Bergekosten – inklusive der enormen finanziellen Risiken. In diesem Zusammenhang wird die Lloyd’s Open Form als wichtiges Instrument vorgestellt, um im Ernstfall Kosten zu begrenzen. Auch typische Versicherungslücken kommen zur Sprache. Regatten, Nachtfahrten, Ausbildungsfahrten, Revierbeschränkungen oder kommerzielle Nutzung sind häufige Ausschlussgründe. Ein Turn ist schneller kommerziell, als viele glauben – oft reicht schon ein geldwerter Vorteil. Zum Schluss geht es um Langfahrt, Krankenversicherung und den Irrglauben, mit einer normalen Auslandskrankenversicherung automatisch abgesichert zu sein.
