She features expansive teak-laid decks and an electrically operated, fully opening transom that transforms into a large teak-laid bathing platform. Thanks to her generous beam, the cockpit feels impressively open and social. The helming area is well-organized and practical, while there’s ample space to unwind on the sunbathing cushions beside the companionway, the cockpit benches, and the sun pad on the foredeck. The teak-laid cockpit also features a sizable drop-leaf table with built-in fridge, and a griddle that swings out from the aft bench, where you can cook right from the bathing platform with the sea at your feet. 'Eyleen' comes well-equipped with two Elvström in-mast furling main sails, a North Sails Code Zero, an Elvström self-tacking jib, Elvström furling genoa, electric winches, a 110hp Yanmar diesel engine, bow thruster, folding propeller, generator, and a complete B&G navigation suite. The C-shaped galley to port is fully equipped, and the navigation station is generous and comfortable. The owner’s cabin forward offers a large island bed, ample storage, and a well-appointed en-suite, with the shower to starboard and toilet to port. It was a history-making day for the Australian 18 Footers League on Sydney Harbour today when Tash Bryant became the first female skipper in the club’s 90-year history to skipper the winner of a Club Championship race. Tash, the Australian SailGP tactician, displayed all of her tactical skills in the extremely difficult, light East breeze, which was full of ‘holes’ and regular changes of direction, to lead home the Yandoo team of Tom Needham and Lewis Brake to win the race by 1m2s from Andoo (Seve Jarvin, Jono Whitty, Cameron McDonald). Third place went to the young ‘rookie’ team of Ben Crafoord, Ryan Ewings and Max Nearn, who sailed brilliantly against their more experienced 18 footer teams, to bring Rag & Famish Hotel home just 14s behind Andoo. Lazarus Capital Partners (Tom Cunich) stormed home, after a disappointing first lap to finish in fourth place, ahead of Shaw and Partners and Sixt (Jacob Marks) in sixth place. Yandoo’s victory in the Club Championship gives the team a score of 2 points, a four point lead over their nearest rival Lazarus on 6 points. Sixt is third on 9 points, followed by Club Marine (Emma Rankin) on 17, Fisher & Paykel (Brett Van Munster) 18 and Andoo on 20. The corrected times, on handicap, for the 2025 Spring Championship section of the race gave the victory in Race 4 to Bec Hancock, Cam Walker and Ed Swain on Sotheby’s Ballard Property. Last weekend saw Round 6 of the RS21 UK & Ireland Cup hosted by Rutland Sailing Club, where sailors were greeted with sunshine and strong winds across both days of racing. Saturday’s racing kicked off with a steady 20 knots across flat water, which made for tight mark rounding's and close competition throughout the fleet. As the day went on, races 3 and 4 brought slightly lighter yet gusty winds, turning the course into a game of snakes and ladders. The day wrapped up with the class’s signature pontoon drinks, followed by their AGM and a three-course dinner at the club. On Sunday, sailors reunited for breakfast before heading back out for another sunny day of super-close racing. With four races sailed in 15-knot conditions, the action was as tight as ever. At one point, six boats were overlapped at a single leeward gate! After an exhilarating day on the water, the weekend concluded with their prize giving. The RS21 Class Association would like to thank Rutland Sailing Club for their fantastic race management, hospitality, and participation with their club boats joining the fleet. The collaboration between the RS21 Class and Rutland Sailing Club was a true success.
