After crossing the Atlantic, we have finally arrived in Martinique. In this video, I first describe my experiences of all the Caribbean islands I have visited so far – including my personal assessment of whether and how worthwhile it is to arrive there as a sailor after crossing the Atlantic. Which island is a good place to stock up on provisions, where is it cheap or rather expensive, which island is more unspoiled, and where is the best place to have repairs done? Then we're off: I show our journey from Martinique via Dominica to Guadeloupe – with impressions of sailing, nature, and life on board. Aber dann, kurz vor dem Jahreswechsel, ist es endlich so weit. Wir verlassen die Monkey Bay Marina zusammen mit unserem Buddyboot "Intle Breeze". Der Plan ist, über den Jahreswechsel nach Honduras zu segeln, der Wind steht günstig und wir müssen das Hochwasser nutzen, um über die Sandbank zu kommen. Doch bereits auf dem Weg zur Flussmündung lässt ein nervtötendes Piepen unsere Euphorie erstarren. Der Autopilot tritt in den Streik. Fest steht, ohne funktionierenden Autopiloten verlassen wir nicht den Fluss. Aber Glück im Unglück finden wir auf dem Weg einen Experten. Jetzt beginnt das Spiel gegen die Zeit. Dauert die Reparatur zu lange, schließt der Zoll über den Jahreswechsel - und damit würden wir das Hochwasser verpassen...

Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles Andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. Seitdem lag Squib in der Wiener Kuchelau, und der Refit hatte begonnen. Am 17 August 2025 ist es wieder so weit. Obwohl Squib noch nicht ganz fertig ist, werfen wir die Leinen los und starten unsere erste Etappe donauabwärts. Dreieinhalb Wochen später erreichen wir das Donaudelta, der Mast wird gestellt, ein passendes Wetterfenster abgewartet, in zwei Sclägen überqueren wir das Schwarze Meer bis zum Bosporus. Ohne Einzuklarieren mit gehisster Q Flagge durchqueren wir die Türkei und erreichen 5 Tage später die Ägäis. Über Limnos und die nördlichen Sporaden segeln wir bis in den Großraum Athen, von wo aus Sabina nach Hause fliegt, weil ihr Urlaub zu Ende ist. 🔧 Paterazzo fisso vs paterazzo regolabile: quale scegliere? Quando si parla di attrezzatura di coperta, una delle domande più frequenti tra i diportisti è: meglio un paterazzo fisso o uno regolabile? In questo episodio di “Nautica in pillole”, grazie alla competenza di Marco Achler di Neomarin, andiamo a vedere nel dettaglio le differenze tecniche tra le due soluzioni. ➡️ Il paterazzo regolabile non è solo per chi regata, ma anche per chi va a vela per piacere. È fondamentale perché consente di modificare la tensione dello strallo di prua, andando a intervenire direttamente sulla catenaria del fiocco e quindi sulla forma della vela di prua. In pratica, permette di adattare rapidamente la vela alle diverse condizioni di vento, migliorando prestazioni e comfort in navigazione. 🌬️ Ad esempio, con vento forte e un fiocco non ben regolato, la vela può sventare o deformarsi. Grazie al paterazzo regolabile, si può facilmente cazzare per ottimizzare la forma della vela, cosa molto più complessa con un paterazzo fisso, dove bisogna agire manualmente sul tenditore in acciaio. 💡 Il paterazzo fisso è più semplice, adatto a chi cerca una soluzione senza troppi aggiustamenti. Ma attenzione: limita la possibilità di adattamento della vela, e quindi le performance complessive dell’imbarcazione. In diesem Video nehme ich dich mit auf einen kurzen, aber intensiven Wintertörn – inklusive Segelaufnahmen, Drohnenbildern und Schrauberei am Außenborder. Mit meiner günstigen DJI Phantom 3 teste ich erste Drohnenflüge über der kroatischen Küste, weil mir die teure Avata für Experimente zu schade ist. Nebenbei versuche ich, meinen Außenborder zu servicieren – bis mir mitten in der Arbeit das Getriebeöl an Bord ausgeht und ich abbrechen muss. Zum Schluss siehst du mich zu Hause, wo ich erkläre, warum das Video nach knapp 9 Minuten endet: Meine SD-Karte hat den Geist aufgegeben und fast das ganze Bildmaterial gekillt.
