Welcome back to another episode if WE|Sail. Two weeks ago: back-to-back cyclone warnings, hunkered down in a marina. Today: isolated paradise, not a cloud in sight. This is the reality of sailing full time—the ocean operates on its own schedule, and your plans don't matter. In this episode, we're living through cyclone season in Fiji, where beautiful mornings turn to buckets of rain in hours. We tackle boat repairs, catch rainwater, sync our lives to the sun's rhythm, and embrace the unpredictability that comes with living in the elements. After 7 years of full-time cruising, we're still amazed by how quickly everything can change. This is the raw, unfiltered version of life on a sailboat—the gorgeous days, the sudden storms, the constant problem-solving, and the rare moments of peace that make it all worth it. We are Easy Day Adventures, a family of four taking one adventure at a time. In this video series we are pointing North to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to go swimming up in the Arctic Ocean. Why? Because it’s there. Plus, it will make a great adventure for our growing boys who are learning how to dream BIG. Why not come along for the ride? This is the final video in our journey up to the Arctic Ocean. This part of the story begins on the road between Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska. After taking in the views of Denali we arrive to Fairbanks for some final preparations before setting out on the rugged Dalton Highway. This road is known as the haul road as it is primarily used to supply the oil drilling facilities in Deadhorse, Alaska. Our trip starts smoothly and we were very fortunate to have clear weather. Our first day on the haul road ends on the Wiseman River near Coldfoot. Since the weather was good, we were able to take a bunch of drone footage giving the viewer a great visualization of what this road is all about. After weaving through the mountains of the Brooks Range, we settled down onto the tundra which is a landscape that few get to experience. It was worth the drive. The pinnacle of our trip is the realization that we just drove to the end of our world. You just can’t drive any further. That night we observed some of the mischievous wildlife and prepared for our cold plunge in the Arctic Ocean the next day. Since the shore is leased by the oil companies, we had to take a shuttle to get to the ocean. Our goal of swimming in the Arctic Ocean was achieved as we waded into 39F water. Not bad for some middle-aged parents and a 9 & 6 year old. Wait to see what we come up with next! We hope you enjoy. 00:00 - Intro 00:26 - Series Recap 00:42 - Driving to Fairbanks 02:03 - Prepping for the Dalton Highway 03:20 - Starting the haulroad 06:01 - Arctic Circle 07:06 - Coldfoot, AK 08:00 - Brooks Range campsite 09:13 - Treeline 09:57 - Atigun Pass 12:35 - The North Slope 14:25 - Arriving to Deadhorse 16:39 - Deadhorse campsite 17:57 - Mischievous wildlife 19:27 - Shuttle and Arctic Ocean cold plunge

Sailing has a reputation for being expensive — elitist, out of reach, and reserved for people with deep pockets. But that reputation isn’t coming from real sailors. In this video, I break down one of the biggest myths in boating: that sailing is only for the wealthy. I’m not saying sailing is free. I am saying that the idea you need to be rich to sail is one of the most effective lies the boating industry ever sold. I’ve owned around 20 boats over the years, including boats that cost less than a used jet ski — and some that cost nothing at all. Most of them were older fiberglass boats that did exactly what they were designed to do: sail. If you’ve ever stood on a dock and thought, “That life isn’t for me,” this video is for you. This beautiful piece of mid-century, Sparkman & Stephen-designed sailing hardware in all its glossy mahogany glory, OPPOSITION, formerly Ted Heath’s second MORNING CLOUD, is as fine and as famous an example as they come from an era when racing yachts - even those built to the then quite new IOR Rule - could still look beautiful to anyone’s eye. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/699/OPPOSITION%20(EX%20MORNING%20CLOUD%20II) Sixteen years on from a major rebuild undertaken at her original builders, Clare Lallow, OPPOSITION still looks just out of restoration and comes available just when interest in boats of her era is on the rise. A new class for such yachts has been inaugurated by C.I.M. at the Mediterranean classic regattas. OPPOSITION is very carefully laid up indoors and is in antifoul and go condition.

Why pay "mechanic markups" when you can find a diamond in the rough on Facebook Marketplace? 💎🛞 The shop wanted to charge us a fortune for new tires, but we’re building this 1973 VW Bus on a $4,000 budget, not a $16,000 one! I’m sharing how I scouted the perfect set of tires online and what I looked for to make sure they were safe and road-ready. Pro-Tip for Marketplace Tire Hunting: Always check the DOT date code on the sidewall! Tires might look new, but if they’ve been sitting in a garage for 10 years, they aren't safe for the road—especially for a heavy bus. If you’re going to bring your child on the boat, the goal is simple: safe and very, very comfortable. In this video we walk through kid gear by age—starting with a Mustang infant life jacket designed to be comfortable, with room so it doesn’t push on the neck, and built so if a child falls in, the collar supports the neck and keeps them upright. As kids get older and start moving around the boat, we show a child PFD with a crotch strap so it stays on if they go overboard, plus reflective so you can spot them with a light at night. For older kids who are on the boat all the time—especially in youth racing programs—we cover comfortable youth PFDs meant to be worn continuously, and why learning early to wear a PFD in dinghies is a good habit. Then we shift to comfort: keeping kids warm and dry so they stay focused and happy on the boat, with kid foul weather pieces, bibs, waterproof smocks, and warmer options for kids who get cold—because warm, dry kids are how you start the life of a lifelong sailor. What makes a catamaran stand apart in the fast-moving world of hydrofoil boats? The iFly 15 has garnered attention for its speed and control, providing sailors with a ride that feels both exhilarating and accessible. ► Bruntons Propellers had a booth at the boot Düsseldorf show to promote its propeller solutions for sailboats - and therefore multihulls. Founded in 1868, the British company draws on its long industrial experience, something that doesn’t prevent it from continuing to develop its products for recreational boating. ► At the stand, David Sheppard, Sales and Marketing Director, reiterated the brand’s core business: “We mainly design propellers for sailboats and motor yachts, and in the recreational boating sector, we offer the Autoprop and the Varifold.” ► The Autoprop is based on an automatic variable pitch mechanical principle. “The propeller constantly finds the right pitch for the speed of the boat,” explains David. This process optimizes propulsive efficiency compared to a conventional propeller, reduces hydrodynamic resistance when purely under sail, and improves performance astern by maintaining the leading edge of the propeller. The technology is also available with the Autoprop Eco*Star, developed for hybrid and electric engines. Bruntons is currently working with several shipyards involved in electric and hybrid multihull projects, particularly on aluminum vessels designed for long-distance cruising. ► Another solution presented is the Varifold, a folding propeller designed to reduce drag under sail while maintaining satisfactory efficiency under power. Specific versions for sail drives are also available and widely used on multihulls. ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Many charter boats take a shortcut through the Ždrelac Bridge. Sounds smart… until it’s not. Every season, boats with masts that are too high get stuck under the bridge - blocking traffic, damaging equipment, and needing to be pulled out. In this video, we show you why this happens and why checking bridge clearance before you pass is absolutely critical. A few minutes of planning can save hours of trouble - and a very expensive mistake. ⚠️ Always check bridge clearance before you pass. 00:01 - Introduction 00:23 - Shortcut for boats 00:33 - Advertisement - TIMEZERO 00:43 - Passing under the bridge 01:31 - Conclusion No matter if you are planning a family holiday or a more challenging voyage, having the situation under control is key to success. 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. In this video, I look back at the very beginning of my solo circumnavigation preparations. It’s a raw and honest glimpse into the early days of preparing for a solo world voyage. This is the moment where theory meets reality. For the first time, I practice docking on my own—no crew, no safety net. What should be a simple exercise quickly turns into a lesson in presence and trust when I suddenly run into problems with the throttle. ⚓ These moments shaped not only my sailing skills, but also the inner foundation I needed for what was to come. 👉 In the next video, I leave the harbor and sail 11 nautical miles hard on the wind toward Enkhuizen. No shortcuts, no comfort—just me, Loveworkx, and the elements. Will everything work as planned? 💙 Love my videos? Subscribe, hit the notification bell 🔔, and leave a comment—I’d love to hear your thoughts and questions on my journey or your own sailing dreams! 💨 Follow my solo circumnavigation (started July 1, 2023, from The Netherlands) at sailing.loveworkx.com. 🌟 Support my journey: Patron: patreon.com/loveworkx (€1.50/month) PayPal: paypal.me/Loveworkx Shop: sailing.loveworkx.com/shop Thanks for watching, liking, commenting, and subscribing!
