Day 3 sailing from Little Jumby Bay to Ffryes Beach featured tricky technical conditions with clashing wind directions, briefly stalling all boats in place before trades returned to push the fleet to the Riddim & Tides festival. Anjo Experience and Heineken truly delivered the ultimate beach bash at Ffryes during Riddim & Tides, turning the west coast sands into a non-stop party paradise. Incredible local bands had everyone grooving well into the night under the stars, smiles plastered on every face in that stunning beach setting. An unforgettable evening blending ASW vibes with pure Antiguan energy. Video: Roddy Acqua

Each interior tells its own story through material choices, lighting, texture, and spatial flow. ✨ L'effetto WOW: Jason applica i nuovi adesivi e loghi, Y2K è come nuova! We sail north through the Sandy Straits and into Hervey Bay proper – and this stretch of the K’gari coastline absolutely delivers. The water colour here is something else. Clear, vibrant, and constantly changing as we make our way past remote beaches and rugged cliffs. It’s one of those moments that reminds us exactly why we chose this life. We drop anchor just south of Triangle Cliff for some well-earned rest and reset. No rush, no agenda – just time to slow down and take it all in. And of course… good food is still a priority out here. We whip up a delicious Lebanese lunch onboard (because boat life doesn’t mean compromising on great meals), before winding down with a spectacular sunset over the bay. If you like what we cook, check out our Instagram for recipes. This is what sailing the K’gari coast is all about. Thanks for watching. We are reluctantly planning turning our bows north again, this time with an actual schedule to keep. Toni has surgery on the horizon, and we’re watching for the next good weather window to open. Until then, we’re savoring these final days in Fernandina Beach — time with Monica and friends, long walks on the sand, and a few last meals at our favorite haunts. We’ve spent the winter here, and it’s bittersweet to say our farewells. Our journey continues, and we invite you to subscribe and share the adventure! We sail from Puerto Princessa in the Philippines to Indonesia (just across from Singapore) with a fuel stop and visit to Brunei. A couple of friends joined us for the passage. So many really fantastic moments. Markus who joined us on the passage put this video together with a mix of his footage and mine. #sailing #hh52 #yachtlife
What started as one of the most beautiful crossings we’ve ever had quickly turned into one of the most intense experiences of our lives. We set off on what we thought would be a calm and easy night sail. The weather was perfect… light winds, clear skies, and a full moon rising over the ocean. Everything looked exactly how you’d want it before a night crossing. We checked all the weather apps, reviewed our route, and prepared for what we thought would be a peaceful sail to our next destination. But sometimes… the ocean has other plans. Just hours into the night, everything changed. What we didn’t know was that we were sailing straight into an unforecasted storm. The wind picked up fast. The sky went completely dark. Lightning started surrounding us, and before we knew it, we were in the middle of one of the longest and most exhausting nights we’ve ever experienced at sea. For nearly 48 hours, we battled relentless rain, strong winds, and powerful waves. Stella was being thrown around, slamming into wave after wave, while we tried to manage the sails, stay on course, and keep each other going with almost no sleep. We took turns on watch, constantly adjusting, reefing, and reacting to whatever the ocean threw at us next. Every hour felt longer than the last, and all we could do was wait for daylight… hoping things would calm down. But when the sun finally came up, the storm wasn’t over. It just kept going. Cold, exhausted, and completely soaked, we pushed through the second night, relying on our instruments, our training, and each other to get through it safely. And finally… after what felt like forever… we made it. Dropping anchor after a storm like that doesn’t feel real. The water goes calm, the rain stops, and suddenly everything is quiet again. It’s hard to even process what you’ve just been through. But moments like this are why we do it. Because on the other side of the hardest days… are places that make it all worth it. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like living on a sailboat, this is it. Not just the calm, beautiful moments… but the unpredictable, challenging ones too. And this one… we’ll never forget. 💙 A huge thank you to everyone supporting us on Patreon — you truly help make this sailboat life possible. We arrive at the remote island of Bohay Dulang and hike up to a stunning viewpoint overlooking the bay, before diving into the nearby reefs filled with vibrant coral and marine life. From there we head into Semporna and board our dive boat out to Sipadan—one of the world’s top dive sites—for unforgettable dives along incredible coral walls teeming with fish. Back at anchor, we organise a Seawind raft-up with eight boats taking part in the Sail Malaysia Rally, creating an amazing floating community in the bay. Fresh fish is delivered for a big cook-up onboard, shared by everyone at anchor. The day ends with a reflective moment as Chris highlights the growing issue of plastic pollution in even the most remote places, collecting floating bottles to create a simple funnel, and demonstrating just how much waste drifts into these beautiful bays. Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370! Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea. We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world. Save $30 on your Airlock purchase of $199 or more by using code MJSAILING or our link below. If you’ve ever dealt with that musty “boat smell,” this is one of the easiest ways to keep your air fresh and clean on board. https://www.airlockusa.com/?sca_ref=11115718.vGu5Y94mh5w&utm_source=affiliate&utm_medium=affiliatelink&utm_campaign=prom This week we’re diving deeper into the electrical system on our catamaran build—and realizing just how much heat these components can generate if we’re not careful. As we start laying out the electrical cabinet, Matt walks through the placement of our DC-to-DC converters, solar controllers, and Victron components, all while trying to manage airflow, spacing, and long-term serviceability. With multiple high-load systems running in a confined space, keeping everything cool becomes just as important as getting it wired correctly. We’re also making progress on the hybrid system, mapping out cooling lines, mounting components, and figuring out the best placement for heavier items like the isolation transformer to help keep the boat properly balanced. Of course, it wouldn’t be a build episode without a few setbacks. A missed paint step means pulling everything back out, and some of our original layout plans had to change once we saw how everything actually fit in place. It’s all part of the process—but step by step, the systems that will power this boat are starting to come together. We hope you enjoy!! Grandiose !

In this episode of Salty Podcast, I sat down with Ken & Kelly of @svthecrookedanchor at the infamous Chat ’N’ Chill on Stocking Island in the Exumas, Bahamas, near George Town. They’re cruising aboard a 1990 Gemini catamaran and sharing how they went from zero sailing experience to full-time cruising life. We talk about selling the house, downsizing, refitting their boat, doing their own maintenance, creating sailing content as a team, and making the dream happen one step at a time. Ken & Kelly are now in their 7th season of cruising and have made multiple trips through the Bahamas. They also share the story behind their beach art, including the swing seats they’ve placed around the islands, and their philosophy that it’s never too late to start chasing the cruising dream. We're the tiny boat amidst the battered west coast of Tasmania. Behind this rock is where we’ve found shelter, it takes the edge off the Southern Ocean swell. But, there’s no doubt, it’s remote and exposed. Boat life in the roaring forties is a new adventure for us, it's icy, yet exciting and we’re about to set off on a mission with a 2-day weather opportunity to get down this wild coast before the next blow rolls through. But it’s not unusual for us to want to stop somewhere a little off the beaten track.. Enjoying the episodes? Becoming a Patron enables us to ensure the continuity of Slim & Soph - Sailing Nakama. Stewart Island brought us the full experience — and this final part of the journey brought it all together. In this episode, we leave North Arm Hut and walk out the final stretch of the Rakiura Track. After the challenge of the previous day, the track feels lighter, easier underfoot, and a chance to take in what we’ve just moved through. But our time here wasn’t quite over. The following day, we visit Ulva Island — a predator-free sanctuary where the forest feels completely different. Birds, movement, sound… a reminder of what these environments can be. This is the final part of our Rakiura Track journey — a walk out, a shift in perspective, and a glimpse of something hopeful. Whether you’re planning to walk it yourself, or simply enjoy experiencing these places from wherever you are, we hope this brings you a little closer to Stewart Island. Thanks for walking with us. Adam & Vicki — By Land and Sea Filmed on Stewart Island / Rakiura, this video follows the final stage of the Rakiura Track and a visit to Ulva Island. Part of our New Zealand walking series exploring remote landscapes, native forests, and the experience of tramping in Aotearoa. In this episode drifting across the Finnish archipelago wasn’t exactly the plan… but sometimes the sea has other ideas. In this video, we set sail from Kökar with our sights on Björkö, expecting a classic day under sail. Instead, we were met with a rare kind of stillness — no wind, glassy waters, and a horizon that barely moved. What followed turned into something completely different from what we imagined. With the sails hanging quiet and the engine taking over, the journey became less about speed and more about soaking in the calm. Endless islands, mirror-like reflections, and that strange feeling of being suspended in time made this trip unforgettable in its own way. It’s not always about perfect sailing conditions — sometimes it’s about adapting, slowing down, and appreciating the silence out at sea. If you enjoy peaceful ocean views, slow travel, and a bit of real-life sailing unpredictability, this one’s for you.
