The Quarken 35 Cabin Tourer is a premium Scandinavian‑designed 35‑foot cruiser that blends comfort, performance, and all‑weather versatility into a stylish and highly functional package. Built in Finland with a modern Nordic aesthetic and a twin‑stepped hull, it offers nimble handling and fuel‑efficient performance powered by twin Yamaha F300 outboard engines (with optional F350S). The design is classified in CE Category B (Offshore) and can carry up to 10 passengers, with a top speed around 44 knots. What sets the Cabin Tourer apart is its spacious enclosed cabin, featuring panoramic windows, a large sunroof, and a functional interior with a galley and dining area that can convert to sleeping space. The forward cabin houses a comfortable double berth and additional seating that transforms into beds, while an enclosed head with a shower makes longer trips more comfortable. The social deck layout is highly adaptable: manually opening side terraces and a large glass rear door create seamless indoor‑outdoor flow, combining the cabin and aft deck into one large lounge area. A large foredeck sun pad adds more seating and relaxation space. With its blend of practical living spaces, social areas, and dynamic performance, the Quarken 35 Cabin Tourer is ideal for weekend cruising, family adventures, or coastal exploration in comfort and style. What does “safer” actually mean? Safer in what conditions? Safer for who? And why does that phrase almost always come from someone trying to sell you something? In this video, I break down the psychology behind the phrase “safer for beginners,” how it influences first-time boat buyers, and why that wording might be hiding bigger decision traps. If you’re trying to choose between different types of boats, this is a conversation you need to hear before you commit. Because the wrong definition of “safe” can cost you more than money.

If you’re doing an Atlantic crossing, it depends on what type of boat you’re in, but it’s basically the same amount of equipment. Start with the base: put your two pairs of dry underwear in a Ziploc bag, roll them up, seal them, and keep them dry. Do the same with your socks, because there’s nothing worse than wet, cold feet. Depending on what size boat, you probably have a little more room if you’re doing a crossing or a delivery, so you can bring two or three technical shirts so you can wash them and have fresh, clean gear. You’re going to want a fleece and a puffer because in the middle of the night when you’re on watch, you want to stay warm. Don’t forget your legs—thermal pants are the best thing to bring across, especially when you know you’ve got to be up on deck for three hours and you just checked the temperature and it’s 42 degrees. Then you’ll have your foul weather gear—your bibs and your jacket. If you were doing an Atlantic crossing, go with a trilaminate fabric because it dries faster if you get moisture on the inside, whereas a coated fabric takes longer to dry. The boat may have its own harnesses, but check with them because you may have a particular inflatable and harness, and that’s what you’re going to wear when you’re on deck all the time—make sure it’s comfortable and fits you. Think about what time of year you’re crossing—if it’s in the colder months, bring a really good waterproof hat that’s a bonded fleece. Having a good pair of gloves is really important—your regular sailing gloves, and then a cold weather pair for when the temperature drops. There is a checklist—talk to whomever you are going transatlantic or transpacific with about what they have on the boat and what their expectation is for what you need to do. And don’t forget your boots—and because you don’t need to wear your boots every day, have a really good pair of sailing shoes as well. 00:00 - Base layer: dry underwear in a Ziploc 00:39 - Mid-layers: fleece + puffer for night watch 01:19 - Foul weather gear: bibs + jacket/smock 01:55 - Harness check: inflatable + harness fit/comfort 02:18 - Bonded fleece waterproof hat 03:00 - Gloves and Footwear #sailing #sailinggear #offshoresailing #sailor

When your outboard engine doesn't wanna start, it can of course have multiple reasons. From experience, the carburetor is the most common. Those little nozzles can clog up quickly and practically starve the engine. Sounds difficult but no worries, it's actually pretty straight forward. In this video I show you how to take out the carburetor, open it up, clean it safely, and reassemble everything with expected result, the engine starts and runs like new! Tools required: Socketwrenchset, screwdrivers, some rags and patience. So let's fix our Yamaha 8HP two-stroke outboard together! Enjoy the video, please like and subscribe and leave a comment, we are looking forward to it :-)!

A brand-new yacht. A dramatic launch… and then she sinks. It’s the kind of story that makes people ask a fair question: “Should I build a yacht in Turkey?” In this vlog, I give you my honest answer — and it might surprise you. Because Turkey is packed with talented engineers, craftsmen and serious yacht builders… but the quality gap between yards can be enormous, and that’s where buyers get caught out. In this video, I break down what you must check before signing anything, including: Certification / Classification (and why it’s more than just paperwork) Track record (delivered yachts, resale market, and what “doesn’t add up”) Price reality (inflation, the Italy comparison, and why “too cheap” is a warning) How to protect yourself: visit the yard, walk the sheds, meet the team, understand who’s doing the work and how quality is controlled Why an unbiased specialist (broker/advisor) can save you a fortune in stress and mistakes I also share a list of Turkish shipyards I personally feel comfortable recommending (and a note: if I don’t mention a yard, it doesn’t automatically mean I don’t rate them). If you’re considering a career change into yacht brokerage, I’m hosting a free webinar on Friday 13 February 2026: Real Buyers, or Time Thieves? Which yacht enquiries are worth your time — and how to spot a serious buyer in the first 10 minutes. Our time in the Maldives is coming to an end, and before heading even further into the Indian Ocean, we make one final stop at the southernmost atoll — Addu. In this episode, we explore a part of the Maldives that feels completely different to anywhere else we’ve been. From empty surf breaks and motorbike rides, to last-minute repairs, and serious provisioning, it’s all about getting ready for what comes next. With Chagos on the horizon, we load up like we did for our Pacific crossing, knowing it could be weeks before we see proper shops again. After organising permits, planning our timing, and preparing the boat, it’s finally time to leave the Maldives behind and sail toward one of the most remote places on Earth. Join us as we continue across the Indian Ocean — sailing from the Maldives to Chagos and into the unknown. ⸻ 🌊 Join Our Sailing Family Adventure! We’re the Fothergills – a family of six living full-time aboard our catamaran, Happy Days. 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. In this video, I look back at Episode 29 in the early preparations for my solo circumnavigation. We didn’t make it to Stavoren last night—but after 11 hours sailing upwind, Enkhuizen was enough. We slept well and woke up rested, but with even stronger headwinds ahead. With 25–30 knots of wind, sailing toward Den Helder and out onto the North Sea toward IJmuiden no longer felt wise. So we changed the plan and turned this into a different kind of weekend adventure. Instead, we head for the Marker Wadden, a unique new nature reserve in the Netherlands. To get there, we pass through the Naviduct in Enkhuizen—one of only two naviducts in the world, where cars pass under the water while boats sail above. Sometimes seamanship means knowing when to let go of the original plan. 💙 Love my videos? What’s it really like to enter a new country by boat? In this episode, we sail into Thailand and take you along for the full process of entering a country by sailboat — from Immigration and Customs to the Harbour Master. It’s a long, sometimes confusing day that looks very different from flying into a country, and it’s all part of the reality of full-time boat life. Because we’re entering by sea, we have to handle all the paperwork ourselves, travel hours inland, and officially bring both ourselves and our sailboat into the country , something most travelers never see. We didn’t film inside government buildings, as filming isn’t permitted in these areas. After hours of paperwork, ferries, long drives, and waiting, we finally make it back to our boat, but the adventure doesn’t stop there. The very next day, we lift anchor and continue exploring Thailand’s islands by sailboat. If you’re curious about sailing internationally, living on a boat full-time, or what life looks like beyond airports and hotels, this episode is for you. ⚓️ Subscribe for more real-life sailing, travel, and adventure 🌊 New episodes every Sunday 💙 A huge thank you to everyone supporting us on Patreon — you truly help make this sailboat life possible. This year, Spartivento keeps growing, and growing stronger.Through Sailux, our premium charter brand, we’re expanding our fleet with catamarans over 55 feet and elevating the experience of luxury sailing. Sicily marks a new chapter: a brand-new base in Castellammare del Golfo, perfectly positioned between Palermo and Trapani, just 40 miles from the Egadi Islands, bringing easier access and new cruising possibilities to one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful destinations. Innovation is also about time and freedom. That’s why we’re introducing the Prestige M48, a fast, comfortable power catamaran designed to shorten distances and let our guests enjoy more sea and less transit, even on a weekend escape. And looking ahead to 2026, we expand beyond sailing: Spartivento becomes the exclusive Highfield importer for Italy, building a strong nationwide network of tenders and RIBs to complement every adventure on the water. More bases. More performance. More ways to experience the sea. @spartiventocharter @sailuxecatamarans . #Spartivento #Sailux #LuxuryCharter #MediterraneanLife #HighfieldBoats

There’s something about a rare sunny day in Southeast Alaska that messes with your head. The wind was blowing 5–7 knots. Straight downwind. And Alaskan Gypsy has five sails that haven’t been raised in years. Audrey was on her way back from Anchorage. The new rigging lines haven’t arrived. The old lines are mossy. There are loose parts on deck. And I’m alone. Probably not the “responsible” time to try sailing her for the first time. But sometimes you don’t wait for perfect. You just raise the sail. This is the first time Alaskan Gypsy has sailed since we’ve owned her (and probably the last 20 years or so!!). Engine off. Quiet. Just wind and canvas. And I have a feeling this is the beginning of a whole new chapter. Wreckage of a fellow cruisers boat fuel the fire this night.
Nothing ruins the sailing dream faster than a stressed-out crew and guests on an unpredictable trip. Today in this episode of the Captain's Salon Part 2 of my sailing series, we're talking about the aspects of sailing that help to transition to becoming more confident as a captain. I'll show you my predictable sail plan and the sailboat amenities that keep guests coming back! Cheers & Fair Winds! - Rodney & Cyndi
