The natural harbor on the southeast coast offers excellent protection in most weather conditions, making it a comfortable and safe starting point. Depths are generally generous in the straits between Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos, allowing easy passages even for deeper-draft yachts. From Skiathos, you sail east toward Skopelos, separated by a clear and straightforward strait. The coastline here changes character — forested slopes fall steeply into the sea, creating deep waters close to shore. Many bays provide good holding, especially on the southern coast: Agnontas, Panormos and Loutraki are reliable stops when northerly winds blow. Continuing east, you reach Alonissos, quieter and more pristine. While open anchorages are fewer here, selected bays such as Mourtia (in northerlies) and Patitiri offer shelter depending on conditions. ► It was hull #6 that we got to discover at FLIBS - the first three S60s are in charter work in Dubai, which is also the plan for the model that was on display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. ► To give you an idea of this powercat’s capacity, there were about 20 of us sitting on the flybridge for the press conference and there was still room to spare! ► Our correspondent in South Africa, Jonathan Jagot, was able to test the 2026 Leopard 53 PC departing from Cape Town. ► Indeed, the largest model in Leopard Catamarans’ power range was launched in early 2020 - celebrated with a world premiere at the Miami International Boat Show - so it was high time to revisit the design, especially as competition in the 50-55ft powercat segment has intensified significantly. The Leopard Catamarans and Robertson & Caine teams have therefore introduced an all-new interior design, which proves to be far warmer and more inviting than the previous version. The overall layout remains unchanged, retaining the signature split galley close to the cockpit and the saloon located near the forward door. ► The most striking changes concern the cockpit, where all seating has been redesigned to be modular - so if you feel like turning the aft deck into a dance floor, that’s now entirely possible.
