In this episode I replace a boat trailer hub on my 1987 Precision 16 trailer. The inner seal on the passenger side was faulty and leaking grease. This is my first-ever trailer hub replacement. Up until this point, I've pretty much done every other kind of maintenance task you can possibly do on a boat trailer. Trailer bearing maintenance was the final skill I needed to learn about boat trailer maintenance. In preparation, I did a bunch of research and watched many YouTube videos. But I still learned some new information in the process of doing this job (like don't mix different types of grease). I hope you find this information helpful. Subscribe and follow @ColoradoSailing on YouTube for more original sailing videos, gear, boat maintenance, sailing tips and travel content as I sail my Precision 18 trailer sailer and Precision 16 sailing dinghy in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and South Dakota. #sailingchannel #coloradosailing #sailing #mountainsailing #sailingtips #sailinglife #learntosail

► We got our first look at the MC75 in La Grande-Motte. But this model isn’t exactly new, with hull #1 having been launched in 2023 and already completed two seasons in the Mediterranean and one in the Caribbean. ► On board, it’s all about luxury and comfort, but performance hasn’t been overlooked, judging by the daggerboards - which retract in the event of striking something - that plunge to almost 15 feet (4.5 meters) below the surface. The builder promises, in certain conditions, speeds equal to those of the wind. We’re willing to believe it, since this catamaran, over 76 feet (23 meters) long, was clocked at 29 knots! Also worth noting is the structure of this multihull, which doesn’t feature a forward crossbeam - the architects drew direct inspiration from the foiling catamarans that competed in the America’s Cup by adopting a central carbon longeron. ► A test sail will be featured in an upcoming issue of Multihulls World. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: McConaghy Architects: Ker Yacht Design Length: 76’5” (23.3 m) Beam: 32’2” (9.8 m) Draft: 14’9” (4.5 m) (boards down) Sail area: 3,207 sq ft (298 m²) Motors: 2 x 150 HP Price: $ 7,000,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Weed in your prop? Just do this! Weed in your prop can be detected by reduced RPM, vibration, lower speed than expected as per RPM. Don't ignore! I know someone who destroyed their engine this way (coupled with overheating). You don't need to dive into clear your propellor, you can just use a hard blast in astern to clear the prop, saildrive, keel, rudder and bow! #sailing #sailingtips #boating

We leave the dock at Lefkas and head straight for a swim spot, after not being able to for a few days. The water and full moon did not disappoint, and Kez finally swims in the Med. We have a special birthday party we wouldn't dare miss, then farewell our friends for a few weeks to go on our own adventures. The following morning we aren't sure exactly where we will end up, but pull into a bay called Filiantro, where we spend the day. Unfortunately the sea bed wasn't favourable, especially with the predicted winds, so with darkness approaching and out second option not a good choice, we settle for the third... In our next episode we go to one of our Top 10 villages in Greece =) Want early access to our videos? Day 15 of the 75 Hard Challenge and today felt like a real turning point 💪 After dealing with a recent knee issue, I made the decision to take a smarter approach to running — starting back with a Couch to 10K session to rebuild strength properly rather than going all-out too soon. What started as a steady 30-minute session quickly turned into something more… I kept going. Ran back to the marina… added a few extra laps… and ended up hitting 9KM! From injury… to progress. This is what 75 Hard is all about — adapting, staying disciplined, and showing up no matter what. ✅ 2 Workouts Completed ✅ Clean Eating ✅ Water Intake Done ✅ Progress Photo Taken 📖 Just reading left to finish the day If you're on your own journey — fitness, mindset, or life in general — stick with it. Consistency beats everything. 👉 Follow along daily as I document the full 75 Hard journey from our boat life in Crete. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you found it informative or entertaining please give it a thumbs as it helps get YouTube to promote it outside of the existing subscribers. We spent our last day aboard the Island Spirit 525e charter boat, making the most of a beautiful day on the water before sailing her back to the marina. We hit the beach, enjoyed one last cruise, and the girls soaked up the sun before heading home. But after the fun was over, I had to share some disappointing news: my new Island Spirit 525e build has been delayed yet again. I don’t have a firm delivery timeline yet, but it’s looking like it could be a while before my boat is finally ready. It’s frustrating, but that’s part of the adventure. We’ll keep sailing, keep filming, and keep making the best of it until the new boat is finally finished. I talk through the exhaust system and how water can be forced back into the engine in heavy conditions, and why recognizing that early matters. More importantly, this is about discipline — staying aware of the boat, the conditions, and the consequences while working on machinery offshore. The aim here isn’t speed. It’s to understand the problem properly before taking the next step. This is what it looks like when something isn’t right, and how you deal with it without letting it get worseNeed More Mariner? In this video, I replace my existing dual battery-to-battery (B2B) charger setup with a single Victron Orion XS 12/12 50A — simplifying the system, reducing wiring, and improving efficiency. We start by looking at the existing installation (with a full circuit diagram), then strip it all back before installing and testing the new setup. Along the way, I cover some key principles that are often misunderstood, including: * Why cable lengths matter in parallel systems * Correct fuse placement and protection * Why you should never rely on a BMS as a safety cutoff * Safe isolation before working on lithium systems * Real-world install considerations on a liveaboard boat This isn’t just a swap — it’s a proper rethink of the system. As always, everything is tested at the end and integrated back into our onboard Victron setup. ⸻ ⚡ Equipment featured * Victron Orion XS 12/12 50A * Existing dual B2B chargers (removed) * Lithium battery bank * Victron monitoring system (Raspberry Pi setup) ⸻ If you’re thinking about upgrading your own system — or just want to understand how it all fits together — this one’s for you. ⸻ 👍 If you found this useful, give it a like and drop any questions in the comments — I read every one. Learn the "How" to anchoring with NauticEd's Anchoring Course - https://www.nauticed.org/sailing-courses/view/anchoring-a-sailboat?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=65-ls5E2RQg Check out IMTRA the windlass experts - https://www.imtra.com If your anchor chain is skipping, jumping, or jamming in the chain wheel, the most likely cause is a mismatch between your chain type and your gypsy — and it is one of the most misdiagnosed problems in windlass operation. This NauticEd video explains exactly why chain skipping happens on horizontal windlasses, how to identify a chain and gypsy mismatch, and how to measure your chain correctly so you can fix it right the first time. What this video covers: - Why chain skipping is far more common on horizontal windlasses than vertical windlasses and the reason for that difference - How lead angle affects chain engagement and causes skipping even when the chain and gypsy are correctly matched - The three main chain types used in the marine industry: Proof Coil, BBB Triple B, and G43 High Test — and why they are not interchangeable - Why High Test chain links are longer in pitch than Triple B at the same diameter, causing them to skip when run through a Triple B gypsy - How to read the stampings and codes cast into your chain wheel to identify what chain type it is designed for - How gypsy wear causes the link pocket shoulders to soften over time, leading to skipping even with a matched chain - The four critical chain measurements you need before ordering a replacement gypsy or chain: rod thickness, pitch, inside link length, and inside and outside link width - Why a caliper is required for accurate chain measurement and why a tape measure is not sufficient - How to decide whether to replace the chain or replace the gypsy when a mismatch is confirmed A chain and gypsy mismatch does not fix itself. Running mismatched components accelerates wear on both and will eventually result in a jam or a dropped anchor. Getting the match right is one of the most important steps in windlass maintenance. Thinking about starting a sailing YouTube channel? Wondering how much money sailing YouTubers actually make, whether the space is already saturated, or if you need expensive camera gear to get started? In this video, I break down the truth behind YouTube sailing channels, including real income numbers, filming schedules, equipment setups, and what it actually takes to build a channel that can fund a cruising lifestyle. We cover how often sailing YouTubers really film (hint: it’s not 24/7), why YouTube sailing is not as saturated as people think, and how you can stand out by bringing something unique to the table. I also explain why you don’t need expensive cameras to start a sailing channel, how action cameras like GoPros can simplify your workflow, and why 1080p video is often better than 4K for editing and uploading while living on a boat. Most importantly, we talk about money. How much do sailing YouTubers make? What’s realistic for small to mid-size channels (20,000 to 100,000 subscribers)? How do YouTube ad revenue and Patreon income work together? And can you really make a full-time income sailing and creating content? I share real-world numbers and what you can expect if you approach this like a business. We also touch on the downside—dealing with criticism and negativity online—and how to handle it while staying focused on your goals. If you’re interested in sailing, living on a boat, cruising the Bahamas, or starting a YouTube channel of your own, this video will give you a realistic, no-BS look at what it actually takes.
