Anticipation has turned 50 this year! And she needs a HUGE facelift. We spent the last few years tackling some really big projects, but there's one more big hurdle before we can get this project signed off... Getting the boat painted! After the other boat we looked at failed the survey, we decided to use that money to go ahead and hire professional help to get this project DONE. And not only get it done faster, but at a much higher quality than we could do ourselves. HOWEVER, we still had to wrap up some of the work ourselves before we could get her ready for her appointment with the painting professionals! We had the yard use Awlgrip paints to move away from the outdated gel coat from the 1970s, as well as a new paint scheme to really make Anticipation stand out! What do you think of her new look?? After being stuck in Boulogne-sur-Mer due to strong headwinds, we finally get a 48-hour window with perfect winds. We set off on an unforgettable journey, sailing 110 nautical miles south, experiencing our first night at sea, and witnessing the sunrise over the ocean horizon, a truly magical moment 🌞. During one of our sails, we encounter a close flyby from a French coastguard helicopter, and have no idea why! 🚁 We make stops in Dieppe and Cherbourg, and stumble into a classic French bicycle race. This video shows the last stage of our sailing trip in the Mediterranean. We have left our destination of Sardinia and are now sailing via Mallorca and Ibiza back to mainland Spain. From Ibiza, I am sailing single-handed along the Spanish coast to Almerimar, where the “Cocon” will be taken out of the water. She will be prepared at the shipyard for the next voyage, which will once again take us across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. The Endeavour Trophy is one of the most coveted in UK sailing, gathering National Champions for each dinghy class to battle it out at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club at Burnham-on-Crouch over an October weekend. This was the first time the Melges 15 dinghy was used for the event, and the sailors revelled in the high winds on Sunday, after Saturday's sailing had to be cancelled as the UK was blasted by Storm Amy. We bring you video from the racing and interviews with the sailors and organisers, as well as a chat with Keith Musto, the first ever winner of the Endeavour Trophy in 1961, who went on to win an Olympic silver medal at the Tokyo 1964 Games, and founded the famous clothing brand which bears his name.
