We heard a bang… and the engine went dead. Not what you want to happen just before one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Although we could still sail, we knew we’d need the engine for what lay ahead — the Singapore Strait. So there was only one way to find out what had happened. We hove to… and Timo went in the water. In swell, wind, and current — and with ships all around — it’s not something you take lightly. What he found was something we really didn’t expect… and somehow, we managed to get moving again. But that was only the beginning. As we continued, the number of ships around us kept building, until we found ourselves weaving through what felt like a maze of anchored vessels… and then navigating it all in the dark. At one point, in the middle of the night, we were approached by Singapore authorities — not the most comfortable moment, surrounded by ships in the dark — but after a few questions, they let us continue on our way. From going in the water offshore… to threading our way through one of the busiest waterways in the world — this is one of those passages we won’t forget. ⛵ We are Sailing NV — a family of four living aboard an ex-Vendée Globe racing yacht, sharing the reality of offshore sailing, boat life, and exploring remote parts of the world. ❤️ Support Our Journey If you'd like to help us keep sailing + filming, you can support us here: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/SailingNV Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/sailingnv Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/sailingnv or if you'd like to help us buy something we need, you can check out our amazon wish list https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1G2NJ0EGJLKR0?ref_=wl_share Thank you so much #sailinglife #offshoresailing #boatlife

WE HAVE BEEN KEEPING A SECRET!! We have some EXCITING NEWS.... https://www.sailingnandji.com If we wind back the clock and look at everything that’s unfolded over the past 12 months… it’s been one hell of a ride...What started as a simple need to extend our visas and leave South Africa, quickly turned into a challenging chain of events. Instead of flying out of SA, we bought an iconic Land Rover Defender and set off to overland Africa. After all, what’s the point in sailing all this way and not going on our own safari? But It didn’t exactly go to plan. Between breakdowns, roadside repairs, and more time befriending mechanics, we didn’t get to travel as far and eventually in Namibia, installing a brand-new engine just to drive back to South Africa and Nandji 2. When we finally made it to the South African border, and a new unexpected hurdle. We were granted just a seven-day visa, which meant dropping everything and flying back to our home country of Australia to reset our tourist visa. What was meant to be a return to sailing, turned into an unexpected family visit back on the Sunny Coast of Australia. We have been trying to grow our family for years, so whilst we were in oz we decided to take a big step and try IVF. Months of appointments followed. Emotions ran high. Our Savings dropped fast. And all the while, our sailboat sat waiting on the other side of the world. So I made the call to head back to South Africa ahead of Bonita, to get everything organised onboard for when the ladies return… only to arrive to Nandji 2 to discover the engine had backfilled with seawater. Another engine toast. Another setback. While I was buried in boat work, thousands of miles apart, we got the news… the IVF hadn’t worked. And just like that, the plan life changes again. The best decision was for Bonita and Tallula to come back to the boat and for all of us to be together again as a family and, make the most of an unexpected summer in Cape Town whilst we repowered Nandji 2. As the last of the boat work wraps up, the adventure is soon to begin again. We will leave South Africa behind and set sail on a 7,000 nautical mile journey across the southern Atlantic Ocean, chasing new horizons in the Caribbean. #lebenaufdemsegelboot #porto #segeln #lebenanbord #lebenaufdemboot #sailinglife #vivicam #sailingnavita #segelleben #portugal

In this episode, we take our solar-powered boat out to sea for the very first time this season as we head toward the Ionian Islands. Along the way, we navigate the Lefkada Canal, another first first, with Niles happily floating through the experience on a high thanks to some meds! Once through, we’re rewarded with everything the Ionian is known for. Calm waters, stunning scenery, and a perfect anchorage that reminds us exactly why we chose this life. If you're into electric boats, off-grid living, or sailing through Greece, you’re in the right place. #solarsailing #electricboat #liveaboard #sailinggreece #ionianislands #lefkas

After waiting over 3 years for our dream expedition catamaran… everything has come to a halt. Our custom-built Portofino 52 aluminium expedition catamaran—designed from scratch for our future life at sea—is now stuck in Dubai due to ongoing conflict and global shipping disruptions. We’ve already lost two sailing seasons… and now we’re being told it could be another 6+ months before we can sail the boat!. In last weeks episode we discussed our options: 👉 Do we keep waiting? 👉 Do we patch together short-term sailing? 👉 Or do we take a huge financial risk… and buy another boat? Your feedback was amazing - new ideas like long term rental of boats AND teh suggestion from several that WE SHOULD RUN THE GAUNLET OF THE STRAITS OF HORMUZ to get our Portofino out!!! We discussed lots more details about the road transport issues, the options for completing the boat in Fugairah and more pros and cons for each option.... This isn’t just emotional—it’s a life-changing financial and lifestyle decision. We are looking to have all our viewers vote on which option we should take now including RUN THORUGH THE HORMUZ STRAITS risking both Iranian and American bombs! Your advice could genuinely shape what we do next so we want everyone to vote on the 4 options, just leaving the number that they recommend - 1- Wait 2. Patch it up 3. Buy another boat 4. Run the Hormuz Gauntlet!. 👇 Comment below with your vote -1, 2, , or 4 👇 —

BUON DIVERTIMENTO! Ale & Max - Y2K Crew. 🕒 TIMESTAMP / CAPITOLI DEL VIDEO: 00:00 - L'incubo ricomincia: infiltrazione d'acqua in barca! 00:44 - Perché oggi un video breve (L'emergenza a bordo) 01:15 - I danni della perdita: microonde nuovo rotto 01:33 - Caccia all'infiltrazione: test con l'acqua in coperta 02:34 - I sospetti: Trasto della randa o rotaia dello sprayhood? 03:30 - I prossimi lavori: motore, batterie al litio e taniche 04:27 - Amara sorpresa finale... gocciola ancora! CHI SIAMO?

Those who follow us on Instagram will know we had a couple of false starts on this video, we lost a bunch of the tape and had to restart. The result is some shots are not included. That said the beauty of the area and the cruising is second to none. Ample use of the fly bridge also allows a great viewing spot.

We sail to Wathumba Creek at the northern tip of K’gari – and it’s every bit as spectacular as promised. From sweeping views to glassy, winding waterways, this place delivers. The fishing? Not so much. A few hopeful casts turned into a humbling reminder that the ocean doesn’t always play along. But the real magic came when we took the paddleboards up the creek, gliding through calm water alongside curious local stingrays – an unforgettable encounter in one of the most beautiful corners of the coast. Back on board ARGO, it’s time to get practical again. Jason fires up the watermaker to top up our tanks, and we dive into some long-overdue passage planning – mapping out the next stretch of this adventure. This is life aboard ARGO – a mix of wild beauty, small challenges, and the quiet satisfaction of figuring it all out as we go. Thanks for watching. I’m always surprised by how many boaters rarely use their onboard grill. The usual excuse is that it’s a hassle to fire up and a chore to clean afterward. Aboard “Moments in Time”, we’ve found the opposite to be true. Here’s how we clean our grill—faster and easier than tackling a sink full of pots and pans. Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. Subscribe and share the adventure! Become part of the conversation by liking https://www.facebook.com/SV.MomentsInTime/

We didn’t even know this wave existed… After spotting something from the drone, we made the call to go for it , even if it meant leaving Stella anchored in a shallow coral lagoon with zero room for error. While one of us stayed back to watch the boat, the other paddled out to a wave we’d never seen before… in a place where no one else was around for miles. But getting there wasn’t easy. We had to land the dinghy on the opposite side of the island, ask permission from a local family, and hike through the jungle — hoping it would all be worth it. And somehow… it was. Perfect, empty waves breaking over shallow reef — the kind of surf you dream about… but rarely find. Out here, it’s always a balance of risk and reward. And this time… it paid off. After the surf, we head into a local village in search of food, meet some incredible people, and end the day back on Stella — where real life kicks back in (yes… laundry included). We always try to live as lightly as possible out here, using eco-friendly products that are safe for the ocean and reef we depend on. This is life on a sailboat in remote Indonesia — raw, unpredictable, and always an adventure. 💙 A huge thank you to everyone supporting us on Patreon — you truly help make this sailboat life possible. We left Port Protection before sunrise and headed toward Wrangell on a calm spring morning. This is a full working day on a sailboat. Passenger pickup in the Back Bay, watching for logs in the glare, catching what wind we could, and working with the tides to make our window. We made it to Wrangell in time, squeezed into a tight crane dock, and loaded freight for the run back out. It turned into one of those days that has a bit of everything… sailing when it shows up, problem solving at the dock, heavy loads on deck, and the kind of quiet moments that remind you why we do this at all. There are some gorgeous aerials in this one that really show the scale of where we are, and we even worked in a custom song that fits the feel of the day. We didn’t stay in town long. Just enough to get the job done and head back out, finding a calm anchorage, tacos on the stove, and a sunset to close it out. Port Protection to Wrangell and back again… just another day out here.

We depart Tawau, Malaysia and make our way to Nunukan to clear into Indonesia, passing one of the largest seaweed farms we’ve ever seen—thousands of plastic bottles stretching across the ocean. After two days of clearing in, we finally set sail for Maratua, often described as Indonesia’s version of the Maldives… and it does not disappoint. From above, the drone reveals a breathtaking atoll and lagoon, but it’s what lies beneath the surface that truly blows us away. We dive along incredible walls and at the lagoon entrance, battling some of the strongest currents we’ve ever experienced, surrounded by thriving marine life. Back on land, we hire a scooter to explore the island, discovering some of the friendliest villages we’ve ever encountered—endless smiles and greetings everywhere we go. We also venture to Goa Halo Tabung and Goa Gumantung, two hidden cave pools with crystal-clear, emerald-blue water, tucked within dramatic limestone landscapes. To top it all off, we celebrate Joanne’s birthday in one of the most remote and beautiful places imaginable—an unforgettable moment in paradise. Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370! Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea. We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world.
