The Concours d'Elegance at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show 2026 has been won by Richard Le Mare's Hadron H2 'Midas'. In what was a truly exceptional line-up of dinghies, the H2 stood head and shoulders above the competition with a liberal sprinkling of gold and, almost unbelievably 312 diamonds, painstakingly hand-set at the aft of the centreboard case, into the shape of the H2 insignia. See the full judging video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcYWhSNnSr8 Read the report at https://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/293842/Le-Mare-has-the-Midas-touch #sailing #dinghy #diamonds #gold
For some inexplicable reason, ARGO came with carpet in the saloon – which, unsurprisingly, turned out to be completely impractical on a boat. Water, sand and constant damp quickly made it clear that it had to go. In this episode, Jason walks through the full process of removing the old carpet and replacing it with marine-grade EVA foam flooring. From careful preparation to achieving a clean, professional finish, this upgrade makes a huge difference to both comfort and practicality on board. We cover the details that matter – including creating a precise border around the edges, working neatly around the curved base of the table, and tackling the tricky contours of the saloon seating. If you’re thinking about installing EVA foam flooring on your own boat, this is a must-watch before you start. Thanks for watching. We arrive at this anchorage that has a great atmosphere - it feels like a holiday destination for the locals. This stunning old town which we couldn't access, was perched on the end of the breakwall that had a walking track over the headland. Family friendly with parks, restaurants along the shore line and beautiful red pebbled beaches. The kids made friends with a local boy which helped fill their cups, and ease the home-sickness. Sveti Stefan holds lovely family memories for us here. Want early access to our videos? We experienced some rough seas on our journey south off the coast of South Carolina. “Moments in Time” was tossed in every direction. At some point, the emergency light attached to the life ring was knocked off the stern. We do not know how long we were dragging it but during the night we noticed the light behind us and realized it had come loose. The plastic clips were spongy and no longer could reliably secure it any longer. We drilled out the pop rivets and bolted stainless steel clips in its place. Another easy and inexpensive fix. We arrive at Miri Marina and before we can even think about exploring, the first job is organising multiple fuel runs to top up several boats with diesel. Soon after, Emma joins us and we head inland to explore the incredible Niah Caves — a fascinating glimpse into Borneo’s ancient past. Setting sail eastward, the calm conditions don’t last. Out of nowhere, a sudden tropical storm hits, with winds jumping from just 6 knots to over 40 in seconds. Thankfully, we manage to get the sails down in time, but our buddy boat isn’t as lucky and suffers some damage in the chaos. We continue on through Brunei, passing the Sultan’s palace and enjoying a beautifully protected anchorage before pushing on toward Labuan. There, we encounter our most polluted anchorage yet. It takes several attempts to set the anchor, repeatedly fouled by plastic rubbish covering the seabed. It’s a sobering reminder of the reality beneath the surface — but Labuan’s duty-free shopping, especially the chocolate, helps soften the experience. We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370! Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea. We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world. I was in the middle of a delivery on a Farr 47.7, when the bilge pump went off... What followed was an insane story that nearly killed me. I'll NEVER take another 'performance' production boat offshore. In this episode of the Sailing Truth Show, I’m sharing the full, documented story of a delivery that almost went catastrophically wrong. This isn't just a story about a bad boat; it’s a lesson in how engineering shortcuts in the factory become life-threatening emergencies in the real ocean. What we're covering: The Discovery: How we found the keel separation while underway. The Design Flaw: Why "performance" grids often fail where traditional builds don't. The "Proof": Looking at the photos and the structural reality of the Farr 47.7. The Takeaway: How to inspect a bolt-on keel before you trust it with your life. This experience was so pivotal that I included it as a primary case study in my book, "Be The Captain." If you want to know exactly what I look for when auditing a boat's structural integrity—including the diagrams of how these joints should be built—you can find it all in Chapter 2. 📖 Get my field manual: https://bethecaptain.com/ 📖 Livestream Chapters 00:00 Intro: A serious story of catastrophic damage 00:41 The Cheeki Rafiki tragedy & the industry cover-up 01:07 Video Dissection: Beneteau First 47.7 grid separation 02:44 The delivery mission and boat specifications 04:03 The incident: Water intrusion near the Windward Passage 05:45 How production boats are built: Grids and methacrylate glue 07:35 Build quality differences: Hanse 588 vs smaller boats 20:48 Lessons from the Cheeki Rafiki loss 22:37 Livestream Q&A and Book Giveaway instructions 39:58 Keel bolts and potential points of failure 41:35 The "Keel Stub" advantage (Oyster 45 construction) 58:17 Point load damage on a Hallberg-Rassy 01:18:12 How to fix leaking keel bolts (Ref: Ocean Cruisers) 01:19:29 Reviewing viewer boats: The legendary Cal 40 01:31:07 Safety first: Why I tell the "scary" stories 01:32:45 Final book winner announcement (Allen Gant) 01:33:39 International shipping and Second Edition updates 01:34:27 Super Chat: Gulfstar 40 "Built like a tank." 01:35:02 Sign off and final thoughts #sailing #farr477 #boatbuild #offshore #blue water #yachting #bethecaptain #sailingzingaro #SailingTruthShow #maritimehorror

A Day in Our Life Living on a Sailboat in Our 20s | Thailand Welcome back aboard Stella Overboard. Today we’re sailing from the north of Thailand back down south toward Krabi as we begin our journey toward Malaysia for our upcoming haul out. It’s another beautiful day in paradise , light winds to start, dancing in the cockpit, pulling up anchor, and setting off with 22 nautical miles ahead of us. Since the wind takes a little while to fill in, we give you a full house tour of our 39ft Jeanneau Sun Odyssey , our floating home. Three berths, one head, a tiny galley, and somehow enough space for four people onboard. Living on a sailboat in your 20s isn’t always glamorous, but it’s ours, and we love it. Eventually the wind picks up and we get both our head sail and main sail out, cruising at up to 13 knots on a tight reach. There’s nothing better than carving through the islands of Thailand with perfect conditions. But sailboat life always comes with the unexpected. As we anchor for the night, we notice a large group of officials boarding boats around us. Soon enough, the water police approach Stella to check our documentation. Luckily, we always make sure to properly check in and out and keep our paperwork ready — because if you don’t, fines can be serious. Some boats nearby were fined 5,000 baht for not having the correct clearance. Thankfully, everything checks out and we’re free to enjoy the anchorage. Clear water, island views, swimming off the boat, putting the outboard on the tender, and heading ashore for food and supplies — this is what a real day of sailboat life looks like. As Jesse takes his parents to the island for snacks and water, we begin preparing for the next four days of sailing down the coast toward Malaysia. Our haul out is coming soon, and we’re excited… and a little nervous. Big projects ahead. Thanks for being here and supporting our journey. In this episode, we leave the safety of the bay near Sant Carles de la Ràpita and set sail for the historic coastal town of Peñíscola — a place shaped by Templar Knights and exiled popes. As we approach, we carefully navigate the shallow waters inside the breakwater to find just enough depth, tucked safely away from the busy fishing fleet. The next morning, we head ashore to explore this beautiful old town, with its winding streets climbing toward the spectacular Castillo del Papa Luna. Built by the Templar Knights in the 13th century, the castle later became home to Pope Benedict XIII, who lived here in exile during the Western Schism. Standing among these ancient walls, it’s impossible not to feel connected to centuries of history. #camper #camperlife #viaggioincamper #ronik #sailingronik #viaggiare #spagna #canarie #tenerife #lapalma #sanmigueldetajo #santacruzdelapalma ⛵️ Il nostro S/Y Ronik è a riposo durante l'inverno in secca in cantiere a Termini Imerese che riprenderemo in Primavera 2026. Continuate a seguirci! Sailing Ronik on the Road.
After twenty-seven exhausting hours at sea, Great Inagua was finally within reach. But about two miles from shore, wind, waves, and current stopped us cold. With a struggling engine and diesel reserves lower than we liked, we spent four more hours working for every inch, still offshore. In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, we weigh anchor at Jamaica Bay and beat into wind and waves toward Great Inagua. By morning we’re still driving into eighteen knots on the nose. Held offshore for hours and burning more diesel than planned, we arrive exhausted. I didn’t want to dive the anchor… but I had to. And just when I thought I was spent, a shoal of squid showed up to keep an eye on me. This eastbound Bahamas passage to Great Inagua tested our diesel planning, weather window strategy, and endurance at sea. ⚠️ The lightning strike changed everything on Dark Angel, and we’re still rebuilding piece by piece. You Need This… Do you think you need more training before you'll feel confident? I spent thousands on courses thinking they would help. They didn't. Confidence doesn't come from knowing more. It comes from clarity. In this video, I share how mentorship transformed my coaching - not because it taught me more health info, but because it gave me feedback that created clarity. You'll learn: - The 5 pieces of feedback that changed everything - Why more training won't make you confident - How to build clarity through structure, practice, and feedback.

Give it a thumbs up if you liked this episode! Stuck in paperwork limbo, so I’ve escaped to the beach… and somehow I’m “famous” now. 😅⛵ In this Sailing into Freedom episode, I’m killing time in Mui Ne, Vietnam while customs drags on again. You’ll see how insanely easy and cheap it is to travel around Vietnam by sleeper bus, why this spot is a world-class kitesurfing beach, and a close-up look at the coral and reef life just off the shore. Along the way a viewer recognizes me just by my crazy hair, we revisit the legendary “mystery girl on the bow” Scandinavian crew episode, and I rant affectionately about budget travel, beach life and minor YouTube “fame.” If you love sailing vlogs, Vietnam travel, kitesurf beaches, reef life and the wandering downtime between big boatbuilding milestones, this one will keep you smiling while we wait to get back to the catamaran. #sailing #sailingintofreedom #sailingvlog #vietnamtravel #muine #kitesurfing #boatlife #liveaboard #cruisinglifeGet your Sailing Into Freedom Crew T-shirt: https://teespring.com/stores/sailing-into-freedom Want more?
