Instead, we somehow ended up with MORE lumber… and a 1971 Dodge Tradesman van. So in this episode, we head north to Comox to inspect the van, get it running again, and visit a local mill sourcing massive Garry oak slabs from a wind fallen tree that originally fell in Victoria. The tree’s journey is continuing in a strange way now. After being trucked north and milled on Vancouver Island, it’ll soon become part of Lady Hawk as we slowly transform her from an old Danish fishing vessel into a Pacific sail cargo ship bound for Mexico. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. Come si stabilisce davvero il prezzo di richiesta per una barca? Stabilire il prezzo corretto di un’imbarcazione è uno dei passaggi più delicati nella vendita di una barca. Non basta partire dal valore affettivo, dagli investimenti fatti o dagli annunci online: il prezzo lo decide il mercato. In questo video Luca Bosazzi spiega perché il giusto posizionamento iniziale può fare la differenza tra una vendita efficace e una barca che resta troppo a lungo invenduta. Quando una barca entra sul mercato con un prezzo troppo alto, rischia di perdere interesse, generare dubbi negli acquirenti e arrivare a successive riduzioni che possono svalutarne la percezione. Il compito del broker nautico è proprio quello di leggere il mercato, confrontare barche simili, analizzare domanda e offerta e aiutare il proprietario a scegliere una strategia di vendita realistica ed efficace. After years of waiting, delays, damage, insurance drama, and a full yacht build in Thailand, my new Island Spirit catamaran is finally scheduled to leave the factory. But before the yacht can be moved, I head to the factory for one final walkthrough and approval. The crew also gives the boat a traditional Buddhist blessing with incense, fireworks, offerings, and a full ceremony to bring good luck before she hits the road. Then later that night, the real drama begins. A road delivery crew loads the yacht onto a massive hydraulic trailer and starts the 36km journey to the marina. Getting this 52-foot catamaran out of the factory is incredibly tight, and at one point we have less than two inches of height clearance. I got some incredible drone footage as the boat slowly makes its way through the narrow streets of Thailand. This is one of the biggest days of the entire build — the day my new yacht finally leaves the factory. For the first time, BoatTEST puts the 2026 GranOcean W72 through a full sea trial to verify its performance, fuel efficiency, and structural integrity. Naval architect Howard Apollonio designed this platform with a 32'8" (10 m) beam carried fully forward, creating a stable, high-volume catamaran engineered for long-range cruising and extended time away from the dock. The W72 is built using advanced vacuum-infused, closed-cell foam-cored composite panels with materials from Gurit SP. This construction method ensures a high strength-to-weight ratio, which we put to the test in offshore conditions with winds gusting to 25 knots. Performance Data: Our test boat was equipped with the upgraded twin 1,150-hp Cat C18 diesel inboards (twin 550-hp Cummins are standard). Top Speed: We reached a top speed of 26 knots at 2200 RPM. Cruising Efficiency: At a transition speed of 14.8 knots (1600 RPM), the W72 burns 47 GPH. Long Range: For those prioritizing distance, dropping back to 9.7 knots (1000 RPM) results in a fuel burn of just 12.1 GPH, providing an estimated range of over 1,100 nautical miles from the 1,585-gallon (6,000 L) fuel capacity. Interior & Customization: With custom interiors by Vripack, the W72 is a "blank nautical canvas." The model we tested featured a five-stateroom layout, including three guest suites to port and two VIP suites to starboard. The main deck salon is defined by a single-level layout with a full galley featuring Bosch and Fisher & Paykel appliances. En este vídeo os enseño paso a paso cómo solucioné un problema muy común y peligroso en motores diésel marinos: las bacterias y el famoso “moco” en el depósito de gasoil. Después de detectar suciedad y contaminación en el circuito de combustible, decidí abrir el depósito e instalar un registro para poder acceder al interior y limpiarlo correctamente. Además, monto un sistema de filtrado y aspiración con bomba de gasoil y filtro decantador para eliminar residuos, agua y sedimentos acumulados en el fondo del tanque. Finalmente aplico un tratamiento bactericida para prevenir que el problema vuelva a aparecer.
