Rooster have been a staple of the dinghy scene since 1999, and have attended the Dinghy Show every year since 2001. This was the 25th time they'd physically exhibited (the 2021 show was virtual), so Mark Jardine chatted with Steve Cockerill to find out about the journey, and the newly-updated iconic Aquafleece which was launched at the 2026 show. Want to find out more about Steve and the Rooster journey? We have some lovely warm air this week so out comes the fibreglass and all those little niggling repairs I want to do get done. We start with the lockers and sealking thse up, or at least one of them. We also sand down and look at the cracks on the cabin top and fill loads of holes and cracks up with epoxy. Loads done today!!! 🌐 My new website: https://sailingwithdave.com ❤️ Comments are open, ask anything you want in the comments section! 📢 If you enjoyed this video, then please don't forget to share and let people know about the channel 🔔 Click here to "Subscribe" and never miss a video: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZVuUVKKtVxulmgL3WzejjQ?sub_confirmation=1 #Sailfish 18 #Dinghysailing #MirrorDinghy #Dinghy Cruising

► This week, we’re taking you to the British Virgin Islands for seven days of family sailing aboard a Moorings 5000 (Leopard 50). ► On the itinerary: Tortola, Cooper Island, Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada… Exploring these islands and anchorages means short sails of one to three hours per day, except for a beautiful longer crossing to Anegada, a flat coral island set slightly apart from the rest of the archipelago. As for the crew, while Charlotte is already an experienced young sailor, it’s a first for Mahé and Marceau! Also on board: Aude, Joffrey, Laurie, Quentin, Pierre-Yves… and me, Maria. A true nine-person adventure, filled with time under sail, laughter at anchor, and the logistics of life as a floating tribe. ► We’ll also be sharing our sailing experience aboard the Moorings 5000: seaworthiness, cabin comfort, the layout of the convivial galley, how the outdoor spaces work for children… We’ll tell you whether this catamaran is truly well designed for family cruising. ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!
On board the Swan 51, every moment at the helm feels instinctive and engaging.Sailing close-hauled with full mainsail and a 100% jib, the boat settles naturally around five knots, with the balance and precision that define Swan sailing. In lighter breeze, with the gennaker set, just a hint of extra wind is enough to unlock its potential, pushing comfortably past six knots and touching seven. The hull speaks the same language in every condition: powerful, responsive, and built to carry speed while remaining composed — even when the sea becomes more demanding. @antoniovettese @nautorswan_official . #Swan51 #PureSailing #BluewaterSpirit #PerformanceCruising #LuxurySailing

The Yandoo team of John Winning Jr, Fang Warren and Lewis Brake formalised their victory in the Australian 18 Footers League’s Club Championship for 2025-26 season with another masterly display in Race 14 (the final race), which was sailed in a 10-15 knots North East breeze on Sydney Harbour today. The League’s other major season championship, the Season Point Score was won convincingly by the Sixt team of Jacob Marks, Alex Marinelli and Matt Doyle, which finished with a winning margin of 18 points over the nearest challenger in the fleet. Yandoo led for almost the entire three-lap NE course to defeat the Australian champion Balmain team (Henry Larkings, Tom Grimes and Lachlan Pryor) by 1m21s, with Vaikobi (Kirk Mitcxhell, Andrew Stephenson and Daniel Barnett) a further 1m0s back in third place. Germany’s Black Knight (Heinrich von Bayern) finished in fourth place ahead of Smeg (Ash Rooklyn) and Brisbane’s GC Sails (Scott Cunningham). Yandoo finished the Club Championship with a total of 29 points, followed by Balmain on 59, Rag & Famish Hotel (Ben Crafoord) on 76, Sixt on 91, Vaikobi on 92 and Smeg on 87 points. The final points in the League’s Season Point Score: Sixt finished on 157 points, ahead of Club Marine (Emma Rankin) on 175, with Balmain and Vaikobi level on 182 and Rag & Famish Hotel on 197. After an even start in 10-11 knots of breeze, Balmain led narrowly once the fleet settled. Yandoo was in second place and there was a tense battle between Black Knight, Vaikobi, Shaw and Partners Financial Services (Keagan York) and Smeg for the next four placings as the fleet headed to the weather mark at the Beashel Buoy. The powerful Yandoo team quickly settled into gear and grabbed the lead from Balmain before holding a 9s lead at the mark. Vaikobi was another 21s back in third place just ahead of Black Knight, Shaw and Partners, Smeg and Lazarus, which made a strong recovery after being recalled at the start. A large fleet of Optimists in the Rose Bay area was a challenge for the 18s as they sped downwind under the big #1 spinnakers to the wing mark off the southern end of Shark Island and again it was the experience of the Yandoo team that performed best as they extended their lead over Balmain to 35s and headed for the bottom mark off Clark Island to complete the first lap of the course. While it was already looking much like a Yandoo victory, the race for the podium placings was close and exciting as there was only a few seconds separating Balmain, Shaw and Partners, Vakobi and Black Knight as the four teams set off for the second beat to Beashel. GC Sails and Rag & Famish headed the next group which included Brisbane’s Big Foot Bags & Covers (Dave Hayter), Lazarus and Sixt. The breeze freshened on the second beat and the battle for second got even closer. Shaw and Partners edged ahead of Balmain before Balmain came back on the next cross to regain the placing. Meanwhile, Yandoo’s crew was revelling in the slightly stronger breeze and increased the leading margin, over Balmain, to 48s as spinnakers were set for the run back down the middle of the course to Clark Island. Shaw and Partners, Black Knight and Vaikobi continued their close battle ahead of Smeg, GC Sails and Big Foot Bags & Covers. Shaw and Partners was showing good form and challenging Balmain but capsized in a gybe, leaving Balmain more secure in second place, now 49s behind the leader. With victory well in sight for the current Giltinan World champion Yandoo team, the crew were more than happy to keep a loose cover on their major challenger over the final triangle lap of the course then put on a spectacular spinnaker run to the finish off Double Bay. As a final hit-out for the upcoming 2026 JJ Giltinan World Championship, Yandoo has definitely set the benchmark and will go into the JJs regatta as favourite to retain the title, but it won’t be easy as the 9-race regatta includes four short course races which can be unpredictable, especially in light winds. The challengers from Germany, New Zealand and Queensland, as well as several top contenders from the League’s fleet will put the defending champions to the test and we should see one of the closest championships in recent history. We’re halfway through a 900-mile offshore passage across the Caribbean Sea toward Central America — five kids, two parents, and one home afloat. 🌎⛵ What started with beautiful trade winds and steady sailing quickly turned into squalls, confused seas, and long overnight watches. The 17th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 got underway in spectacular fashion from Fort Charlotte, high above Antigua’s Pillars of Hercules. In classic 15-knot trade winds, a fleet of 56 boats set off on the 600-mile challenge around 11 Caribbean islands. Five clean starts launched the fleet into immediate battle. In IRC Zero, Rán and Daguet 5 went head-to-head beneath the cliffs, while in Super Zero Leopard 3 and Black Jack 100 reignited their 100-footer rivalry from the gun. The multihulls wasted no time either, with Argo accelerating clear and setting the early pace. Tactical shifts, tight pin-end duels and high-speed drag races defined the opening miles — but with 600 nautical miles ahead, the real test is only just beginning. #RORCracing #Caribbean600

Next week, Japan hosts an international conference on plastic pollution. I won’t be in the room, but I live at the waterline. From here, plastic pollution isn’t abstract. It’s mechanical. It’s physical. It can be dangerous. A discarded fishing net once wrapped around my prop shaft and nearly sank my boat. Garbage is borderless. Ocean currents don’t recognize nations. As the conference unfolds in Tokyo, I’ll be watching through the lens of sustainability, stewardship, and what I call The Art of Community — how we treat what belongs to all of us. These are field notes from the waterline as it connects with my upcoming book Longevity and the Art of Community: Lessons from Japan. #PlasticPollution #OceanPlastic #Sustainability #Japan #GlobalCommons #ArtOfCommunity #WaterlineWitness #OceanStewardship #PlasticTreaty #UNEP

We work on continuing upgrades to the boat by fitting it with a diesel heater, more water level sensors and the biggest fiberglass project ever: a new hard dodger for the cockpit for better crew protection from weather and better visibility from the helm.

My biggest fear about buying my first boat has nothing to do with the water. It’s not capsizing. It’s not getting lost. It’s not even wasting money. It’s losing a season. Because every season spent stuck in research mode is a season you’re not building real experience on the water. In this video, I break down why hesitation is the real trap for future boat owners, why your first boat does NOT need to be perfect, and how momentum is what actually gets you to the liveaboard lifestyle most people only dream about. If you’ve been overthinking your first boat purchase, this is for you. ⚓ Follow along as I document the journey from total beginner to living the sailing life. ⏱️ Timestamps 00:00 The real fear nobody talks about 00:42 This is about a lifestyle, not weekends 01:13 The learning curve you cannot skip 02:05 Why experience starts with a decision 02:53 The research trap explained 03:35 Your first boat doesn’t need to be perfect 04:47 Momentum is everything 05:44 The real cost of waiting 06:31 My decision this season 06:53 Let’s figure this out together 📌 Hashtags #SailingLife #FirstBoat #LiveaboardLife #SailingJourney #BoatLife #SailingChannel #CatamaranVsMonohull #SailingBeginner #DreamBoat #StartNow

Are Beneteau sailboats really “bendy,” cheap, or unsafe — or is the internet just yelling again? If you’re a middle-aged couple thinking about selling the house, buying a sailboat, and cruising to the Bahamas or the Caribbean, chances are a Beneteau is already on your shortlist. They’re everywhere for a reason — but they also attract more hate online than almost any other sailboat brand. In this video, we take an honest, no-nonsense look at Beneteau sailboats, where the criticism comes from, what’s actually true, and what really matters if you’re buying a used cruising boat. We talk about hull construction, full keels vs fin keels, modern sailing technology, and why today’s cruising reality is very different from “grandad’s bluewater days.” This isn’t brand loyalty, and it’s not internet fear-mongering — it’s real-world perspective for people planning real cruising lives. Whether you’re researching: Beneteau Oceanis vs older full-keel sailboats Best sailboats for Bahamas and Caribbean cruising Used sailboat buying advice Cruising sailboats for retirement Or wondering if Beneteaus are actually safe offshore …this video will help you separate myth from reality before you write the check. ⛵ Topics covered in this video: Why Beneteau gets so much hate online Modern sailboat construction vs “they don’t build them like they used to” What actually matters when buying a used cruising sailboat Bahamas and Caribbean cruising realities Why today’s cruisers don’t need Noah’s Ark anymore If you’re dreaming of life under sail — or already shopping for your first cruising boat — you’re in the right place. Mark Jardine chatted with ILCA Olympian Micky Beckett at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show 2026 about why he sails the Switch One Design foiling dinghy when he's not campaigning for the LA 2028 Olympics. The foiler is a strict one design dinghy, and many of the British Sailing Team ILCA Squad now have a Switch, and are regularly racing that as well.
Stuck on the ICW through Georgia, we weren't offered much in terms of novel views. As we crossed the Savannah River into Georgia, we saw more marshland on the ICW, had more bald eagle and dolphin sightings, and we did our best to at least motor sail our way south. We did get to witness the recovery efforts of the capsized Golden Ray cargo ship, a disaster which resulted in more than $200 million in damage, caused by incorrect calculations about the vessel's stability. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We can't produce quality inspirational content indefinitely without the support of our fans. Every 3rd Thursday the IGFA organizes the "school of sportfishing". This takes place in and out of Pier 66 hotel and marina, and Hammer Yachts provides their HammerCat 35 for on the water instruction.

Performance doesn't begin at sea. It begins in the design office. This film brings together the entire Gunboat Performance & Innovation interview series with Stéphane Renard, head of Gunboat's design office, offering a continuous immersion into the choices that make the difference for a Gunboat on the water: efficiency in light winds, controlled speed, and stability on a large scale. Throughout these episodes, we explore how performance is designed as a system: carbon structure and platform rigidity, sail plan designed to maximize sailing time, and daggerboards that help create apparent wind, improve wind angle, and reduce drag. The intention is simple and uncompromising: sail more, use the engine less, and turn breeze into real miles, sooner, cleaner, and with confidence. If you're passionate about performance sailing, multihull design, composite engineering, hydrodynamics, and aerodynamics, here's the story told by those who build it. From the Gunboat 68 to the Gunboat 80 Fusion, one philosophy remains: fast, controlled sailing in silence. ► This brand-new center-console model with a walkaround deck is based on the hull of the HammerCat 35CC (40 units built). However, the deck, side decks, and cabin/wheelhouse are entirely new, developed in close collaboration with Du Toit Yacht Design. ► The double-stepped hull with wave-piercing bow from the 35CC has been retained. Like all HammerCat models, the 35HH features a glass/epoxy construction using infusion technology, along with a carbon-fiber hardtop. The vertical structure of the cabin is made of aluminum. ► The standard equipment on the HammerCat 35HH is already very comprehensive, yet can be further enhanced with electronic packages, specific engine configurations, and additional comfort options. ► Our senior reporter Brieuc Maisonneuve had the opportunity to test this brand-new 2026 model - just nominated for the 2026 MOTY in Fort Lauderdale: “In fairly demanding conditions, with 20 knots of wind and a choppy sea driven by the Gulf Stream, I had the chance to try the ultra-powerful HammerCat 35HH with Peter Wiersema, one of the two founders of HammerYachts. This is undoubtedly a no-compromise powercat, weighing only 4 tons thanks to its meticulous construction. Powered by twin 400 hp Mercury V10 outboards, the 35HH is truly a powerhouse, featuring a hull that delivers excellent seakeeping. An ideal powercat for sport fishing - but not only!” ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Hammer Yachts Material: foam/epoxy sandwich and carbon reinforcements Length: 34’1” (10.4 m) Beam: 11’10” (3.6 m) Laden displacement: 8,800 lbs (4 t) Payload: 2,200 lbs (1 t) Water: 40 US gal (150 l) Fuel: 2 x 210 US gal (2 x 800 l) Max speed: 44 knots with 2 x 350 HP outboards Max powertrain: 850 HP (up to 4 engines) Price : US$ 598 000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!
