We packed up in Luperón and hit the road for the mountains of Jarabacoa— trading ocean breezes for cool air and jungle-covered peaks. After a scenic drive through the Dominican countryside, we rented a house in Las Guázaras, perfectly tucked into the hills. From there, the adventure really began. With our 2 and 3 year old in tow, we tackled the steep and strenuous hike up Montaña El Mogote. It wasn’t easy — sharp climbs, and lots of toddler encouragement — but the panoramic views made every step worth it. We cooled off at Balneario Salto El Baiguate, absolutely stunning. A powerful waterfall, fresh mountain water, and that feeling of having a place almost entirely to ourselves. We also explored the town of Jarabacoa, wandered through Parque La Confluencia, and crossed the suspended bridge over the mighty Río Yaque del Norte — the longest river in the Dominican Republic. Mountains, waterfalls, family adventures, and unforgettable views — this is why Jarabacoa is known as the adventure capital of the DR. Filmed August 2025.
