Pac Cup is the race from San Francisco to Hawaii that happens in the even-numbered years, and is known generally as the "fun race to Hawaii". This year Ira is the official photographer and media person for Pac Cup, so we were able to get some awesome shots and footage of these race boats at the start of their sail to Hawaii! If you want to check out her photography, look at the Pac Cup Race insta, or her site (search "White Raven Media"). @glassslipper40

We are super thrilled to get this episode out to you. We feel like we’ve said this a lot, but it just genuinely gets better and better. We get to use our new (second hand) bosuns chair to go up the mast to bommie spot, but that doesn’t mean that the challenges of sailing the reef stop there. Being novice sailors as a young couple with little experience means that we have to think on the go and hope for the best. Thankfully we’ve got our high spirits to get through it together, and enjoy the absolute WONDER of exploring the Great Barrier Reef on our small sailboat. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we enjoyed living it. Also let us know if you like Josh’s animations this vid! It’s his debut, he’s pretty excited about it heheh. Big love! The New Kids. Support the Channel - Access info useful for buyers - https://www.patreon.com/dansboatlife The Navan C30 is the first attempt by Brunswick Corporation at entering the Adventure Boat market. I believe they have taken a slightly different approach to the category by building a boat that has a lot of the Adventure Boat characteristics but with a few small differences - that to some of you could be a major benefit! This boat is solid, fast, sexy and fun and will appeal to those of you look for a capable platform that serves you very well as a commuter but also does so much more than that with accommodation for a couple (plus kids). Also coming in an S version that will be an open t-top styling that I look forward to having an opportunity to trial at some point. I think when a huge name like Brunswick gets behind a brand you can only have high hopes for it's future and from what I experienced on this day I believe those high hopes can be justified. Provided they continue to expand this into a family of Navan models I believe this is a name to keep an eye on. Is the Navan for everybody? Well no, because there is no such thing as a boat that suits everyone. The volcanic landscape is massive, rugged, and just awe inspiring. And the white washed towns that stud the tops of these giant cliffs are world renown for their unique beauty. People fly from all over the world to visit this island and several movies and TV shows have attempting to capture Santorini's distinct beauty. So when we were finally able to see this famous island, I was surprised to find out just how much I didn’t like it. But before you go thinking how ungrateful I am I hope you watch this entire episode to see just how much fun we had this week as we embarked on a journey into the heart of the Aegean Sea, getting to see some truly incredible scenery along the way. I interviewed Alistair Murray, President of Australia Sailing, to find out more about youth pathways in Australia, and why they weren't sending a team. He talked about the situation where youth classes are attracting 30 to 40 boats, but that the kids usually come from sailing families. Sailing is a hugely successful Olympic sport for Australia, especially in more recent times. The Aussies are in second place in the all-time Olympic sailing medal table (behind Great Britain), yet the domestic fleets in some of the Olympic classes, particularly the 470, are small. Also, many of Australia's most successful sailors could walk down the street in Sydney without being recognised. It's a strange dichotomy. Alistair wants sailing to be a mainstream sport, but to do that Australia needs a lot more sailors. In the interview, he reinforces that Australian Sailing are a huge supporter of World Sailing, and he wants to see Australia represented at the Youth Worlds, but outlines how the country's geographic location, and the funding required to send a team, led them to decide not to hold the necessary trials and not to send a team in 2023 and 2024. He argues that for those who do attend the Youth Worlds it's a wonderful experience, but there are too few who get to take part. Therefore, Australian Sailing are putting their focus on the championships that each class hold and generally more of a squad based approach. He's right to say that a tiny microcosm of those who take part in our sport get to race in the Youth Sailing World Championships, but the same can be said for the Olympics and the America's Cup, and they are aspirational. The Youth Worlds needs Australia, and I argue that Australia needs to be at the Youth Worlds.
This is the first tour and test of the Riviera 6800 Sport Yacht Platinium which was recently premiered to the public in Australia at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show. For a vessel of this size I am amazed that the operation of this boat is still just as easy and functional as the smaller Riv's. The Volvo DPS with Dock Assist actually makes this 70ft+ yacht as easy to handle as a 40ft'er! Riv have achieved something that in my opinion is going to keep families together. A boat like this, that is this easy to operate will facilitate relaxed days. If the skipper isn't loosing his marbles because of a close call at the dock then everyone will be enjoying themselves - and they will come again. I predict days onboard this 6800 will be cool, calm and relaxing. Is it a boat, is a car? Well it is as cute as a button and we loved it! As tenders go this could be about the coolest thing money can buy, and if you don't have a big yacht, well who cares, we loved it enough to just take it out for a blast across the bay or a cruise around the marina, either way it's sure to turn heads. Understanding the Pitch of the Propeller and Its Impact on Boat Performance. Discover how the propeller pitch affects boat performance in this explanatory video. The propeller pitch is the theoretical distance it travels in one complete revolution. A higher pitch can increase the boat's speed, but it may also require more engine power and affect acceleration. Additionally, we explore why the effective pitch in water is approximately 85% of the theoretical pitch due to factors such as resistance and slippage.
We explore Vlore, visit Durres, tour Tirana and do multiple boat repairs.

When I first dreamt of sailing the world I imagined traveling to famous destinations. Hawaii, Tahiti, Sydney, the Galapagos. But now that we’ve been doing this for a while I’ve come to realize how much I love discovering the hidden little corners of the globe. The places that few have heard of and that you won’t find on anyone's bucket list. This week we discover a quaint Greek fishing village, we swim in crystal clear water under massive cliffs ,we kayak to a Monastery built to protect seafarers, and our daughter learns how to fend off a WWII era amphibious assault. And until recently, we’d never heard of any of these places. Now we are currently exploring the Greek island of Symi and our goal this season is to sail across the entire Mediterranean to Spain where we’ll fly home to the states to have our baby, because, you know, Desiree is pregnant. But first we’ve got to sail across the Aegean, a route which takes us against the prevailing winds for nearly 200NM. So as we wait for just the right weather window, we take the opportunity to head off the beaten path to get to know this extremely beautiful island.
