We replaced the old chainplates on this 1968 Alberg 30 using 316 stainless flat bar sized 1/4" x 1 1/2" and drilled for 3/8" bolts and 1/2" clevis pins. We then rounded the tops with a grinder and polished in our shop. The bulkheads and knees were strengthened as well. The boat will have 1/4" 316 1x19 stainless standing rigging with swaged upper ends and sta-lok lower ends. I generally no longer use polysulfide sealant such as Lifecaulk to bed the chain plates since I found it tends to lose its bond after a couple years. instead I pack the gap in chain plate to deck hole with butyl tape that gets compressed in place under the stainless caps and have yet to get a leak this way.

We have a boys day girls day! Brady, Brian and Max take the dinghy on a river adventure back to the town of Mayabunder in order to get a permit to visit Interview Island. In typical man fashion we get our work done in 5 minutes and head to the bar for a morning beer. We meet a crazy Punjabi man at the local pub and he offers to take us on an island adventure, to proudly show off his home island to us. The day turns into a lot of beer drinking, some random adventures, and then a long dinghy ride home during a crazy rain storm. Our Indian breakfast catches up with us so we pull off the river into the jungle to let nature take it's course. We stumble into a massive trail blazed by working elephants and have a really cool intraction. The girls on the other hand decide to have a proper girls day with baking, chilled white wine, movies and massages. Unfortunately the girls use too much power and end up blowing the generator circuit breaker by using the air conditioning which puts a damper on their day. They do a hell of a good job with the massages and baking cookies though! Footage from April 2015. Our Mission It’s simple really- we just want to make you SMILE! We do this because we LOVE it. L’association Raiatea Regatta Une fête de la voile, pendant 4 jours, aux îles Sous-le-Vent de la Polynésie française : telle était l’idée initiale de la Tahiti Pearl Regatta, créée par un groupe d’amis réunis depuis 2004 dans l’association Raiatea Regatta. Pari tenu. Au fil des années, la Tahiti Pearl Regatta est devenu la plus grande régate du Pacifique insulaire, et s’est hissée au rang d’événement nautique international. Ouverte à tous, monocoques et multicoques, sans limitation de taille, la ‘TPR’ est co-organisée par la Fédération Tahitienne de Voile, l’Association Raiatea Regatta et la société Archipelagoes. Elle est régie par les règles de l’ISAF (racing rules of sailing 2013-2016). Offrant un équilibre idéal entre compétition sportive et découverte festive des îles, la TPR ralliera en 2016 les îles de Raiatea, Bora-Bora et Tahaa. Sur l’eau : des parcours en lagon autour de l’île, des parcours banane ou des traversées hauturières. Conrad Colman is a Skipper with double nationality from New Zealand and USA. He settled in Lorient, France in 2009 to pursue his dreams of offshore racing. Since then he has raced the Mini Transat, Route du Rhum, won the Global Ocean Race and completed his last round the world race on a 60ft IMOCA in the Barcelona World Race. The biggest challenge is just ahead with the Vendée Globe 2016 fast approaching! The Vendée Globe The Vendée Globe is a sailing race around the world and nonstop singlehanded. Skipper sails around the world from west to east via the three major capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and the Horn. There is a long slide down the Atlantic, the perilous voyage across the Southern Ocean with firstly the Indian Ocean and its crossed seas, then the Pacific Ocean, the world’s biggest ocean. Finally, there is the climb back up the Atlantic to head back to Les Sables d’Olonne, which marks the start and finish of the Everest of the seas. The Organizing Authority is the Yacht Club Gaeta, E.V.S. in conjunction with the International Finn Association and the Italian Finn Class Association. The FINN dinghy fills the slot for the HEAVYWEIGHT DINGHY in the Olympics. It was designed in 1949 by Rickard Sarby and was first used at the Olympics in 1952 in Helsinki. Thomas Coville, one of the great French solo sailors of recent times, became the second competitor to finish The Transat bakerly this morning when he brought his Ultime trimaran, Sodebo, to the finish at New York. After a voyage from Plymouth of eight days, 18 hours and 32 minutes, the 48-year-old who has completed seven circumnavigations of the world plus numerous transatlantic races and record-setting voyages, finished just nine hours, 37 minutes and 23 second behind class winner Francois Gabart on Macif. Le Rennais Thomas Coville (Sodebo) a franchi la ligne d'arrivée à New York de The Transat Bakerly, à 8 h 02 heure française. Il se classe derrière François Gabart. Thomas Coville (Sodebo) a pris la 2e place de The Transat Bakerly (ou Transat anglaise). Arrivé à New York, il se classe derrière François Gabart (Macif) Coville et Gabart, à la barre de maxi-trimarans d'une trentaine de mètres, les plus puissantes machines de cette course, se sont livrés à un formidable duel depuis le départ de cette transat en solitaire, le 2 mai à Plymouth (sud-ouest de l'Angleterre). THE TRANSAT The Transat – la course au large en solitaire à l'état pur. Un parcours de 3500 milles à travers l'océan entre la pointe sud de l'Angleterre et New York.
