Then off to Palma, Mallorca for the Gastraa Palmavela regatta with the 52 Super Series, then Pantaenius Sail & Power Insurance brings us another episode of Skip Novak's series on "Storm Sailing" filmed by Yachting World around Cape Horn, next the Star Sailor's League in Hamburg, UK sailor Phil Sharp in IMERYS in the "Class 40" division of the Transat bakerly has a penalty against him and he has to go to a location-heave-to and wait for 6 hours before being allowed to continue racing and finally from the middle of the North Atlantic we finish up in exotic French Polynesia's Bora Bora for the "Pearl Regatta."

After an awkward beginning to the regatta yesterday, the RC44 World Championship Marina de Sotogrande fleet racing got underway, providing a reminder to helmsmen, tacticians and crew on all 11 yachts that this Andalusian venue lies just 25km from Gibraltar and the open Atlantic beyond. Racing today was held in stiff 20+ knot winds that topped out at 27 knots, creating boat speeds of 20+ knots, plus a worthy test for crews. After race one, the fleet was ordered back to Sotogrande Marina when a giant grey cloud crossed the course, obscured the rock of Gibraltar, while emptying its contents upon the crews. The 2016 RC44 World Championship Marina de Sotogrande is the second event of the 2016 Championship Tour, which pitts the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts. The latest Transit 38 production catamaran on its maiden sail in light winds. It was ideal for a first sail, but it would have been nice if the wind had picked up after the first couple of hours. Instead it dropped to nothing. So we never saw more than 10 knots of true wind, usually much less. Top speed on the gps was just over 7 knots, the log still needs to be calibrated.
