Award winning Superyacht Ribelle during Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2019. Video made by Carlo Baroncini.
On 11 April 2019, the 23-metre chase boat, called Stargazer, was launched at our sister company Claasen Shipyards in the Netherlands. This large classic lined motorboat, intended as a tender for a sailing superyacht, is a unique concept. One of the key tasks of this vessel is to get guests and owner from ashore to the yacht in comfort and to visit shallow diving areas. During this project, the Dutch shipyards Vitters and Claasen combined their efforts to build this motorboat. It is the first time the two sister companies worked together on a new build project. The yacht was built to superyacht standards as far as performance, finish, styling, details and technical installations are concerned. The lightweight aluminium hull was built in the Netherlands and all technical installations and joinery work have been executed by the Dutch shipyards. The concept of the yacht is designed around several purposes the yacht needs to fulfil: • To transport guests from shore to mothership. • To serve as a diving platform that goes into small lagoons and shallow areas where people can comfortably go in and out of the water using a large swim platform in the stern that forms steps underwater when deployed. • To be able to hold extra stores onboard. • To accommodate extra crew or guests in the three cabins onboard the yacht. The owner wanted the boat to have a Pacific range, meaning she is able to be powered by engines underway for 750 miles at cruising speed. The boat was designed with two 925 hp SCANIA engines to drive fixed propellers for a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 25 knots.
This spectacular video shows Bella Ragazza sailing in Rangiroa, French Polynesia during her World Cruise. Bella Ragazza (ex. Gimlä) is a 43m (140ft) performance sloop designed by Dubois Naval Architects. She has an interior designed by Rhoades Young Design.
The Frers designed, 150ft sloop rigged performance cruiser is the first yacht built by Vitters Shipyard to a design by Germán Frèrs. The cooperation with the Argentinian designer has been a resounding success. Both the design studio and the yard have a long track record of high performance cruisers and their joint experience created a great combination. The yacht embodies paramount high performance characteristics while offering the enjoyment of comfortable living on-board and to compete in the world’s most competitive Superyacht Regatta’s. Unfurled has won both the World Superyacht Award in the Sailing Yacht 45metre and above category, as well as the 2016 Sailing Yacht of the Year award. She was also the overall winner at the St. Barths Bucket Regatta 2016 and the winner in her class (Les Gazelles des Mers).
A clean underwater hull without dragging a feathered propeller through the water was, until recently, only seen on racing yachts. Our novel development of direct drive pods, offers this opportunity now also to performance cruising yachts. This is a new advancement which will certainly be used on many future yachts and which offers improved performance, also on existing yachts originally designed for cruising.
Sarissa is a spectacular 42.6 m carbon globetrotter. She is one of the most recent additions to the portfolio of performance yachts built by the Dutch superyacht yard Vitters Shipyard. Sarissa is the largest carbon sloop built in the Netherlands to date. Following Vitters' previous carbon high performance sailing yachts, this increase in size is not the only development. Sarissa's hydraulic and deck systems provide improved reaction speed, load and stiffness to safely facilitate the sailing performance she was designed for. Other custom technical features are an in-house developed hydraulic steering system with rudder feedback, as well as a unique system of back staysandrunning stays to operate both her cruising andracing sail configurations. Aglaia is a spectacular 66m sloop-rigged aluminium yacht designed by naval architect Dubois Design. The large sloop rig is all carbon with EC6 rigging and gives a sail area to displacement ratio equivalent to a racing yacht. With the motto to develop a 60m+ yacht that sails like a dinghy, the design and build team set specific targets like hoisting the main sail in less than two minutes and tacking the boat within 30 seconds. Vitters Shipyard developed an innovative storage system on two drums in the forepeak for the Staysail and Code 1. In addition, Vitters designed a new type of furler for the Staysail to increase safety of the crew by completely avoiding manual handling for large sail hoisting and setting. Aglaia started off her second Mediterranean season with a spectacular novelty: she now carries a Code 1 artwork by the Norwegian art designer Magne Furuholmen. This is the worldwide largest artwork on canvas. Though one can hardly call a 3600 sqm painting a detail, this is yet another confirmation of nearly every single detail of this yacht being extraordinary. SY Marie is a fantastic example of a 'modern classic' superyacht. The graceful lines of the early twentieth century yachts are combined with a modern underwater body and a carbon ketch rig. This remarkable combination of elements results in a magnificent yacht. SY Marie offers ultimate comfort as well as the thrill of competitive sailing. This video shows the spectacular Marie racing in the Superyacht Cup Palma 2011. Video produced by Rick Tomlinson for the Owners. See also www.symarie.com and www.rick-tomlinson.com.
