In the final segment of testing the Quickset 50 from Kingston we give the anchor 10:1 scope to try and make it hold in our shock load tests. Jon gives his thoughts at the end of the anchor. To see an extremely thorough test of the Quickset 50 got the SV Panope here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0p39koSWPY0&t=1605s Contents of Video: 00:00 - Intro 00:31 - Testing QS 50 at 10:1 scope 07:02 - Underwater camera final pull 14:27 - What to make of the testing 19:06 - Will we be switching to the QS50? 24:09 - Why I tested the way I did? 26:25 - Final conclusions
Jon and Shannon transform Prism into a anchor testing machine. If you don't find nerdy and in depth anchor talk interesting, this video is certainly not for you. Pt.3 will be out soon showing the performance over multiple pulls at and over 10:1 scope in the same bay. For the full writeup of why we are testing these anchors go to this link: https://svprism.com/replacing-the-best-anchor-in-the-world/
Warning! Nerd Alert! Jon digs in deep into anchor design and compares his trusted S120 Spade to Kingston's Quickset 50lb. Pt.2 will cover actual testing of both anchors.

***UPDATE*** It should be noted, some viewers with a much better understanding of epoxy chemistry than me brought it to my attention that there is no such thing as a memory of resin or liquefaction. With that said, epoxy will soften but not liquify at high heats. It will also shrink again at temperatures that Prism endured that summer which in some cases may make it "pop away" from the original thing it was holding onto. Just setting the story strait. Thank you to our viewers who kept me in line about this, never want to spread bad information.*** The crew on Prism installs and finishes the huge chainplate project they have been working on for weeks. They take some nights off to enjoy the holiday seasons gatherings with other cruisers before getting Prism back in the water.
