Direkt nach dem Frühstück wurden wir von unserem Guide „Mr. La“ abgeholt. Gemeinsam fuhren wir ca. 30 min. nördlich von Mae Hong Son an einen Waldrand, um von dort aus unsere Dschungel-Tour zu starten. Unser Guide hatte uns am Vortag gebeten in langer Kleidung zu erscheinen, um uns im Wald vor Tieren und Pflanzen zu schützen. Da wir uns bei dieser Hitze auf „Durststrecken“ einstellten, packten wir jeweils 2 ½ Liter Trinkwasser für unsere 4 stündige Trekkingtour ein. This is just a few minutes of the 1st leg of the OPCYC "Round the Lights Race" that took place Oct 14th, 2017. The Skipper and crew of the S/V Excelsior chose to make the initial turn to port on an East by Northeast course, set on a close reach into 2' to 3' seas, towards the Thimble Shoals Lighthouse. I subtitled this, "The Wrong Way Round..." as choosing the initial starboard run to the Middle Grounds Light turned out to be the faster course this season.... "Weather is what you get, Sailing is what you DO with it." A wonderful sail was had by all who took part. Fair winds and following seas to all.

As Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida, we watch the marina become a ghost town and prepare ourselves for the worst while hoping for the best. With not much to do the day before the storm, we hang around the patio and take in all the news reports we can handle until we're sick of the news and begin our hurricane party instead. It's a good thing we got all that running around out of our systems, because come storm day there was no getting off the boat for us. Staying on board through the entire storm, we listened to winds howl outside as we heeled over in the darkness, with no power at the marina, and not much clue to what was happening outside our hull. Bem vindos a bordo !! Finalmente saímos de Paraty!!! Uma cidade encantadora que vai deixar saudades !!! Fizemos ótimas amizades e aprendemos muito por lá ! Para despedida passamos pela ilha do Cedro, onde curtimos a calmaria e uma boa comida no bar do Nelson !!! A expectativa para chegar em Ilha Grande estava tão grande que não paramos em nenhum outro lugar, fomos direto a Lagoa Azul, um lugar encantador! Em seguida mudamos para praia do Abraão devido a super lotação do feriado e pela previsão de tempo ruim que estava previsto !! O sudoeste quando vem, vem com tudo , até os mais experientes como sv delos ficaram na vigia e sempre com rádio ligado para qualquer emergência !!
