We didn't know how long we'd be stuck on the coast of Florida, but it turns out we were given a window to get to the Bahamas! Getting to the Palm Beach Inlet took a full day of motoring from Stuart, full of the bascule bridges we would love to try and avoid if only we trusted the two inlets north of Palm Beach. And the weather window we had been rushing to get of course changed course on it. A few extra days hanging around Palm Beach, and we were given the weather window we were looking for to get to the Bahamas. With nice 15 knot winds out of the south, we thought the crossing would be everything we'd planned for it to be, except the Gulf Stream had other plans in mind for us. Cheers from the Bahamas! As festas acabaram então voltamos de onde paramos !!! Dessa vez fomos conhecer a Ilha da Gipóia, a segunda maior ilha de Angra dos Reis, conhecida por quase todos do mundo náutico por suas lindas praias, em especial a "Praia do Dentista" (Praia de Jurubaíba) Como gostamos de conhecer cada pedacinho de areia de onde passamos, resolvemos fazer uma caminhada pela Ilha... iniciamos a trilha na Praia do Dentista, passamos pela Praia da Flecha, Praia da Fazenda, e Praia de Piedade .... Foi um passeio delicioso e super fácil de fazer.. Não precisa ser nenhum atleta para isso !!! Uma parada obrigatória é o restaurante do Luiz Rosa (Praia da Flecha). Luiz Rosa foi um dos primeiros moradores da Ilha da Gipoia, e o lugar é cheio de historia ... Muito bacana conferir ! Aproveitamos também para conhecer a Ilha Cataguas, muitos falam Cataguases ... mas eu sigo o navionics. Uma ilha encantadora.. com certeza uma das mais lindas que passamos !!!! December is not the best time to scuba dive in the Daymaniyat Islands in terms of visibility and larger life (whale sharks & mantas are more common in the summer months), but the opportunity presented itself so I didn't want to miss out. Saw some really nice ocean life including sting rays, box fish, lion fish, moray eels, nudibranches, and massive schools of fish. Also saw the largest sting ray I've ever seen and hung out with that giant green turtle - worth it!
