Howie walks you through the installation process of getting a full featured fish finder outfitted on a Hobie iSeries inflatable kayak. He used the i11S in this video but the kit will install on any Hobie inflatable kayak with the new Vantage seat. The head unit mounts onto an adjustable arm that attached to either of the Vantage seatbacks legs. The transducer mounts to the rudder blade of the Hobie Twist n Stow rudder, this mount gets the transducer deep into the water but also has the transducer lifting up and out of the water if needed. This kit also includes a nice small light weight lithium battery that can be strapped onto the back of the Vantage seatback. | Season 2 | Episode 16 | Angels Gate to Coches Prietos Anchorage, Santa Cruz Island of the Channel Islands of California. The last week of 2017 I took an amazing solo sailing trip to the Channel Islands. I visit six anchorages on Santa Cruz Island before sailing for Catalina Island and tying up in Isthmus Cove for New Years Eve and meeting up with Meital. We sailed back on New Years Day enjoying sunshine, great wind and thousands of dolphins. On this episode I prepare Triteia for the long trip and push off for Santa Cruz Island. The over night passage was 22.5 hours / 77 nm finally coming to anchor at Coches Prietos Anchorage on the southern shore of Santa Cruz. While I was on my trip I started my first podcast and the first episode is up online now. The podcast is titled “A STERN VIEW” and is something of a cruising guide to anchorages and sailing destinations. Each episode is recorded on location and I cover everything I know about the anchorage from my research and experience at the anchorage. I also kept a journal in my logbook and will be posting them as a blog with still photos. Very strong winds combined with currents, waves and giant ships, for sure it was quite an experience. After, the sailing became so good that we extended our passage further south until we reached the summer in The Hague.
