Provided boats and sails ensure the ultimate level playing field and the competition reflected this, with the regatta in doubt until the end of the final race.

It's not how you start, it's how you finish. That described the route San Diego Yacht Club took to win the fifth edition of the Resolute Cup, a Corinthian championship for U.S. Yacht Clubs. Led by skipper Tyler Sinks, the team was at its best in the double-points medal round, leaping from fourth to first to claim the win and a berth in the 2019 Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup.

(Friday 21st September, Valencia) – After one of the most exciting, roller coaster three-race days in the history of the 52 SUPER SERIES, there is just two points separating the top three teams going into the final day of the season at the 52 SUPER SERIES Valencia Sailing Week. Italian America’s Cup team Luna Rossa staged a remarkable comeback from 11th to finish, second in the third race of the day and so resuscitate their chances of their chances of a second regatta win of the season. They lead the new 2018 52 SUPER SERIES champions Quantum Racing by one point and Platoon by two points in a down-to-the-wire tussle for the last remaining regatta title of the season. As the third race of the day was completed, Quantum Racing passed the point at which they can no longer be beaten to the 2018 title. The new champions will be crowned at a glittering prize giving on Saturday night, but the hard-driving team are focused on closing out their fourth regatta title of the season. That much was apparent when they returned to the dock in the Marina de Valencia where the champagne remains on ice until the last races of the season are completed. (Saturday 22nd September, Valencia) – Quantum Racing may have won the 2018 52 SUPER SERIES championship title, but unsailable light winds on the last day of the 52 SUPER SERIES Valencia Sailing Week denied them the chance to pitch for their fourth regatta win of the season. Luna Rossa, the Italian America’s Cup challengers of record, lift the Valencia regatta title, which they add to the Zadar Royal Cup, which they won in Croatia in June. And there was no deciding race to unlock the tie for second place on the 52 SUPER SERIES circuit podium for 2018. Harm Müller-Spreer’s Platoon and the Roemmers family’s Azzurra finish on exactly the same points aggregate after the 42 races and five regattas of this season. But the German-flagged team, which draws on an afterguard comprising John Kostecki and Jordi Calafat, both winners of successive America’s Cups on these waters, are credited with second on tie break. The deciding factor being which team finishes in front of the other in the last regatta of the season. In truth, the Quantum Racing win – by 37 points – was born one year ago to the day. In Menorca they were bitterly disappointed to finish third after leaving too many points on the water at different regattas. “That hurt. It really did,” recalled Quantum Racing’s unflappable veteran director Ed Reynolds today after the champagne was sprayed at the dock in the Marina de Valencia, which formerly housed the 11 America’s Cup teams of the 32nd America’s Cup. Quantum Racing won in Sibenik and Valencia, and landed the Rolex TP52 World Championship in a windy Cascais with Dean Barker driving, but Hutchinson confirmed his highlight of the season was winning the Puerto Portals regatta with talismanic owner-driver Doug DeVos on the tiller. In this epsisode we get really close to Bears at a fish hatchery and at Anan Wildlife Observatory. One of the highlights of cruising through Alaska on a relatively small, and very slow boat, is the opportunity to have amazing up close encounters with wildlife. We highly recommend the experience of stopping at both Hidden Falls Hatchery and the Anan Wildlife Observatory to anyone that may be planning a trip trough Southeast Alaska. Anan Bay requires permits during the high season when the bears are feeding, and tours of the hatchery at Hidden Falls can also be arranged. We tried using a device called an "Anchor Buddy" to keep the Whaler in deep enough water to keep it floating as the tide went out, but because we didn't leave it in deep enough water and we stayed longer than we planned, we ended up high and dry on the beach anyway! I am BURSTING with happiness. Music and boats (and Aladino) are my greatest loves. The boat side of me is well taken care of, but the music side has felt a bit neglected. Yes, I play by myself on the boat... but the violin is a lonely instrument. It needs friends to really sing. | Season 3 | Episode 43 Welcome to Season 3 of my channel! On this episode we push off from Åland's capital city Mariehamn and have an incredible day sailing under headsail alone to the magical port of Rödhamn. After getting tied up we go ashore to explore this new harbor and I fall in love with this storybook-esque land and take you far above the island with a drone flight so we can get a better look at this small island (which has no electricity). We get a visit from a friendly bird, Neil enjoys the sauna and we both take in the incredible sunset. This season will follow my time on board SV Arcturus as we explore the Åland Islands and beyond. We sail into cities, tie up on small islands, anchor bows to and ride out a blow before heading back to Sweden. I hope you will follow along with us on the trip. I was warned. Various cruisers that we had met who had been in the area previously all knew what these pigs were like. People said to me "you watch out for them pigs son they'll gitcha." Alas, I did not listen. The bite through the shorts doesn't actually look too bad but in the next few days will become a large bruise. There are probably some people who are going to say that it wasn't technically my ass and I will grant you that whilst it wasn't exactly the area I would like to know if you would feel comfortable if a stranger rubbed you there? Maybe the worst thing out of the whole event was the loss of one of my 4 pairs of good shorts. I have often wondered what people find so intriguing about these creatures, people coming from miles away to watch them. And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Richtig gelesen! Wir sind wieder im Lande! Nach 2 Jahren Segelreise/Weltreise in die Karibik und zurück als Familie, sind wir wieder in Deutschland angekommen! Die Tour von Falmouth, England, bis nach Cuxhaven hat 7 Tage gedauert. Die zweite Hälfte davon bestand aus Kreuzen über die Nordsee mit ganz ordentlich Wind zum Schluss! Es wurde technisch anspruchsvoll, sich zwischen Küste und Verkehrstrennungsgebiet den Weg nach Hause zu bahnen. Also hat es natürlich umso mehr Spaß gemacht ;) In der nächsten Folge kommt die Familie wieder an Bord und wir segeln zusammen über die Ostsee bis nach Lubmin, unserem Heimathafen. It was a big day for the sailing world’s most prestigious trophy as the America’s Cup returned to Cowes to take centre stage as the plans for the 36th America’s Cup were revealed. Plus, we head to Puerto Portals for the 52 Super Series’ penultimate event and to the Extreme Sailing Series for some straight talk.
