The main holiday season is over and we're back to limited numbers of yachts around us. We take our time visiting a number of little town zigzagging between the islands of Korcula, Hvar and Brac and the mainland

Our FP Saona 47 test sail in La Rochelle, France. Nothing fancy, taken and edited only on a cell phone, (sorry for the background noise). We were along for the ride when they were doing final handover, we weren't allowed to be fully hands on but got an overview from the skipper.

Im zweiten Teil bekomme ich Verstärkung beim Segelboot renovieren von Steffi und ihrer Schwester. Gemeinsam nehmen wir die letzten Teakholz Leisten auseinander und entfernen Klebe- und Gummireste von Deck. Steffi's Schwester passt zum Glück in die Backskiste, sodass wir auch die Winsch und Klampe, die darüber befestigt ist, entfernen können. Danach kümmern wir uns um die Schiffsfenster. Die Verkleidung aller 10 Bootsfenster wird abgenommen und die Acryl-Glasscheiben entfernt. Das ist echt viel Arbeit, denn pro Scheibe sind es ca. 30 Schrauben die wir einzeln per Hand rausgehen müssen. We finally sailed into Tunisia to catch a plane back to New Zealand. There is a huge pack up to happen and what are we going to do with our animals while we fly half way across the world for three weeks? We get to explore the ancient medina of Tunis and Nikau gets some work prepping her for an Atlantic crossing. We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! Episode 44 -We put our dodger back on the boat -Ricky makes the shelf for our water maker -We cut our backing plates out using the fiberglass from our old bimini -We paint the storage hatches under our aft cabin beds -We epoxy seal off our floors -Ricky cleans up the engine & get's it ready to be serviced soon -We make the frame for the window hatch we installed a couple episodes ago -We finish off our saloon table by routering it and sanding it down. This week we go over the new fuel system and share the design, considerations and draw and return process. While normally you think fuel is not all that complicated, and ours isn't, there was still a lot to consider. 3 diesel tanks, electric fuel pump, dual Racor filter boss, generator, primary engine and return fuel, it all needed to be considered. We show the beautiful welds that Nick dod on the stainless steel handrails. I put together the mizzen traveler carr and teak supports as well as clean the metal from years of old varnish. I also sanded and applied an additional coat of Awlwood MA on the toe rails, cap rails and spindles.
