Blast Off for the RORC Caribbean 600 The 2019 RORC Caribbean 600 kicked off in spectacular conditions off the south coast of Antigua with the magnificent fleet starting the 600 mile non-stop offshore race in bright sunshine, full-on gusting tradewinds and two-metre high waves. The 11th edition of the race featured 76 starting yachts from 20 different countries.

BREAKING NEWS: Start of RORC Caribbean 600 postponed for MOD 70s Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s Team agreed to Team Argo’s request to postpone the start of the RORC Caribbean 600. The new start time will be at 14.00 local time (18.00 UTC and 19.00 Italian time) to allow the American Team to finish the repair work after they capsized during the Antigua 360 Race last Friday. The Royal Ocean Racing Club, the organizing committee, asked everyone in the MOCRA class (multihulls) to delay the start but the quorum wasn’t met, so they asked the Italian Team to create a special class for the two MOD 70s. Therefore Maserati Multi 70 and Argo will compete in a Match Race without taking part in the corrected time ranking. This is the RORC Start video which includes the footage concerning the capsize of US Mod 70 ARGO whilst traing with Giovanni Soldini in Maserati. All crew are safe and they may be on the start line today. The story. Five starts are scheduled from 1100-1140 local time with the multihulls in the final start. In the build-up to the non-stop race around 11 Caribbean islands there has already been high drama, and the race is set provide a thrilling spectacle with front-runners reporting that both the multihull and monohull race records could be broken. Entry Lists on website The weather forecast is suggesting that moderate trade winds at the start will strengthen during the race, giving classic Caribbean sailing conditions of warm trade winds from the east with a moderate sea state. "We have seen light conditions throughout January, but we are seeing a significant change for the RORC Caribbean 600, with low pressure pushing the high pressure away," commented Andiamo's skipper Mike Broughton at a weather update held during the Skippers' Briefing.

Guests on board this week - Mike and Kristy. Xanthe met these two at a music festival 4 years ago. We were camping neighbours for the week; then as chance would have it, we became actual neighbours when they moved to the same suburb as us in Sydney. We pretty much lived in each other's pockets before abandoning them for our boat adventure so it was quite the treat having them onboard for a couple of weeks of adventuring over Christmas and New Year. ...If only it turned out as smooth and problem free as we had hoped. A few disasters along the way made it an interesting trip to Dominica. We had heard a lot about this island and it all sounded a bit to mystical to be true. Living aboard and travelling in a 34ft yacht and in a motorhome with four kids. We get to the fantastic Bay of Islands and endure a bout of rain before Christmas. Then we get some sunshine and some up close shark action. We are a family of six who are taking some time out of normal life to travel. We’ve pulled the kids from school and are home schooling while on the road and the water. We spend time aboard our 34ft sailing boat in NZ and have bought a camper in Europe so as to tour the other side of the world. We’re keeping our memories on video here and the kids write narration and play guitars so we have music to use in the videos.

We made an easy day sail from Green Turtle Cay over to a beautiful island called Manjack. We were invited to join a group of people who were feeding a stingray in the water. We later found out that Manjack Cay is actually a popular destination where people can come and feed the semi tame stingrays and sharks. It was a really fun experience. Later that day we wanted to have some fun in the dinghy and get some awesome drone footage of Randall speeding up and down the beach. We were having great fun until Kenzie accidentally crashed the drone into a tree branch causing the drone to fall to the ground. Upon retrieving the drone we found that the arm holding the gimbaled camera broke making the drone impossible to use. It was a very sad day for Kenzie, so we didn't film anything else that day. In this episode we sail for 11 hours in the Aegean Sea. We leave Emborios on the South eastern coast of Chios and head over to Pythagorio on the island of Samos. A 60 mile crossing. We had a nice steady wind and decent sea state and was running almost all the way. A great day sailing.
