We anchor with Seatramp on 2.50 m water depth and go to explore the island with the Dinghy. With a lot of imagination Nina already plans the house construction... We arrive in Curacao and sadly have to say goodbye to our good friends Jamie and Andra, but make new friends with the crew off SV Cape Grace, where cliff jumper Johnny Bryant takes us to a cliff to jump at Santa Cruz. SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged 2012 Lagoon 450 Catamaran bought in Tortola, BVI at the beginning of 2018. Not a good experience I have to say, a bit of a damage on the keel, but luckily we have the boat booked to come out of the water next week so we will be able to fix it sooner rather than later. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. This week we continue our adventures in the Ionian Islands as we head for Paxos and Corfu. We leave Meganisi and need to navigate the Lefkas Canal, this is the second canal we have conquered in weeks (after the Corinth Canal) and we enjoy the challenge. The canal is well signed and the bridge opens on the hour and we are lucky to make it. The wind is light during our sail towards Paxos, 7 knots and we reach a constant 4 knots boat speed. We are fortunate we are in no rush and are happy to just be sailing. As we approach Paxos, a small bird joins the crew and is happy with the location. Paxos is beautiful, we see the bluest water we have ever seen and we spend days mesmerised and feel fortunate to have the bay to ourselves. We move further north to Corfu and enjoy the 'city' life. Corfu is a vibrant metropolitan city and it's really nice as a contrast to the Cyclades during winter. The weather continually changes during the week and we spend the days finding different peaceful anchorages. We spend time in Ipsos, Stefanos and Kassiopi on Corfu Island and they are all pleasant anchorages for Kawai. This is the last stop in Greece, as we next head to Croatia. Quanto mais nos aproximamos da prova, mais vamos ficando ansiosos. Nossa rotina atual se resume a acordar, tomar café, ver algumas notícias, começar a estudar às 11h, parar às 14h para almoçar, voltar a estudar, até umas 17h e sair para brincar com os filhotinhos. A pressão de compartilhar essa experiência nos resulta em um peso extra. Ou seja, não queremos falhar publicamente. Fico pensando porque é que eu fui contar tudo por aqui? rs Em paralelo ainda tem as questões da Refeno, preparação do barco, manutenções para subir, etc... Tudo andando no meio da rotina louca desses estudos. O bom é que agora a gente está em uma parte muito gostosa, estamos aprendendo muito! Já valeu mesmo que a gente não passe de primeira! Mas é óbvio que queremos passar! De resto, algumas noites de sono perdidas, porque em meio à tudo isso tem também o aluguel do meu apartamento. Estamos em fase de negociação de proposta e isso é uma condição crucial para que nós possamos subir para a Refeno. Então, agora é estudar e torcer para tudo dar certo. E vai dar!

So went to the range today. Had a failure of sorts. The ejector broke off the bolt after about 80 rounds, sighting in my Bushnell optic.

While browsing sailing youtube channels, I came across Ryan and Sophie’s channel and Polar Seal, I noticed that in their introduction video my apartment was in the background of one of their shots in Stockholm. I got in contact with them and turns out I was in Gibraltar/Spain one month later and I had a weekend free. What a great opportunity to go and meet them in Almerimar. They are a really great couple and we had some great laughs and conversation, hope you enjoy a little insight into that, some great talk about Lithium batteries also. In 2016 after the Live World Track Cycling championship in London, the BBC filmed a segment of "Some Mothers do 'Ave 'Em" for a Sport Relief special with Frank Spencer (Michael Crawford) and Bradley Wiggins. The bike used to film the segment had one of our Live Broadcast Velovue cameras attached to it. This captured some amazing footage of Michael Crawford performing his own stunt by holding onto the rear of Bradley Wiggins bike whilst he was riding around he track. You can actually hear Michael Crawford shouting FASTER FASTER A little piece of history in the making. An amazing actor ! Velovue is an onboard camera using COFDM transmission, created and operated in the UK by BRF and used extensively for Live Broadcast Racing championships.

The Spanish rice "Caldero" is a typical dish of the Mar Menor, and the recipe dates back to the 19th century when the fishermen of the region used to prepare it on the beach, using the small fish which were not good enough to sell in the markets and is a dish steeped in the flavors of the Mar Menor itself. It is traditionally prepared in a Caldero, a cauldron-style pan from which it takes its name. Today we are cooking on the classical wooden boat with Miguel 86 years old man from Cartagena Spain. This was one of the moments you can’t buy. Miguel aged 86 showed us how to cook “Caldero” He was born and raised in this area. Cartagena, Mar Menor. First, you fry pimiento in olive oil and crush it down with garlic. Then you fry different fish. Then you give a lot of water to it and make a broad. So was Rarotonga, but because of all the bureaucracy we did not see much and basically just wanted to sail away from that port as fast as possible. Boat anodes do an essential job on any boat. However, unless you check the resistance when you replace one, your new anode may do absolutely nothing to protect your boat's systems. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE ➜ ➜ http://bit.ly/SBYouTube⛵ Informative Sailing Videos! It is often assumed that if you bolt an anode to something it will automatically be electrically connected to it. This is often the case but not always. In my day job I work offshore and when we mobilise our systems on to ships or platforms one of the very first things we do is connect the earth cable from our container to the vessel. (We operate underwater robots and on some systems we send 3000 volts subsea, so the consequences of a mistake could be fatal) After connecting the earth cable - a crimped ring terminal on a large diameter copper cable - to the welded earth stud on the vessel, the resistance is measured. It is often found to be out of limits and the connections need to be cleaned with a wire brush and the connection remade to obtain the low resistance required... Many of us will have seen boat anodes which have been in the water for a season or more and don't appear to be wasting away. Due to the low voltages involved in cathodic protection systems it doesn't take much resistance at all to prevent anodes doing their job. This can easily be avoided by taking 30 seconds to check the resistance with a multimeter whenever you replace an anode. We show you how to do that in this video.
