This episode we finish our time in Staniel Cay with exploring a plane wreck and picking up packages with watermaker air before we head out to go back to Georgetown to stage leaving the Bahamas for the season. We discovered that the plane ride was once a drug smuggling plane that was doing practice runs with flour to test for weight. There is an much left to the plane, it was in very shallow water right off of the beach in Staniel Cay. It was so shallow that you could practically walk on the plane. When you were in the Bahamas one of the ways to get packages from the US is by using a service. We went with one called Watermaker’s Air. Several our cruising buddies have use this service so we thought let’s give it a try. We got much-needed packages from home, ketones, spare electric motor parts and mail. Oh and chocolate 😁 Once we had all of the packages back on the boat we lifted anchor the next morning and headed out Staniel Cay. We had to go through the cut and we shared it with a very large boat, making for interesting trip out of Staniel Cay. We made decent timers Georgetown although a little longer than we expected. Our dog Lola get's into some trouble on the beach and we have to take measures to ensure she is ok. We found a vet nearby and took her in, a little scare. (Ep.82) We took our old Vetus hydraulic cylinder that came with the boat and decided to restore it and make it beautiful again. Replace the seals and as long as the cylinder itself wasn't to scratched up and the movement was still there, we could just replace the seals and she will be good to go! We were BLOWN AWAY by Hangzhou. I think we had low expectations and in every area, it surpassed what we thought it would be. The main attraction in Hangzhou is West Lake. The lake is 13.5 miles in circumference and easily walkable, bu other options exist like electric carts and bicycles. All along the way, you run into famous pagodas, bridges, temples, museums, and places to sit along the lake. It's relaxing and very chill. The people are great. The food is outstanding and prices, believe it or not, were quite inexpensive and reasonable. After hosting the G20, we thought that the lake and surrounding area would be highly commercialized, but it has maintained a very quiet, quaint and traditional environment. It took us about 10 hours to walk around the entire lake and back to our hotel. It was a long day, but well worth it. The landscaping and natural beauty of the lake and mountains are breathtaking. Hangzhou is well worth a visit of at least a few days. Try to go during lotus season - it must be even more beautiful with all of the flowers in bloom. We did not have the chance to take a ferry to the islands; it rained one entire day and we ran out of time. We did hear the islands are lovely and being on the lake is a treat. We depart Little Farmer’s Cay and motor-sail further south along the Exuma bank. As we make our way to Rudder Cut Cay, one of David Copperfield’s 11 islands in the area, we pass by the pristine Musha Cay, home to Copperfield’s exclusive resort. Once our anchor is set we head over to check out 'The Musician,' the famous underwater sculpture commissioned by Copperfield (approximate coordinates: N 23 52.15, W 76 14.23). Later on we link up with a couple fellow cruisers we met at Little Farmer’s Cay - Michael and Nikki of SV Anahata for a little cave party! When an uninvited guest arrives we decide to take the party out to the water! We raft up our dinghies and drift out to a small island called Dove Cay. We love this little spot so much we decide to go back the next day for a beach BBQ. The next morning it’s time to conquer our first cut out into the Atlantic Ocean as we head all the way down to George Town, Great Exuma. While we’re nervous to go through our first cut, it ends up being the least of our worries. In this video we continue sailing around the world and explore the Spanish coast before travelling over to Ibiza! We begin in Mar Menor where we sail around the inland sea and explore a cool island in the middle, before heading back out into the Mediterranean. As always, a sailing channel vlog wouldn't be complete without a few things going wrong and this time for us it is our engine not starting - boat life! We have a relatively stress free sail (which is unusual for Sailing Chelsea) and land in paradise in a stunning place called Formentera, which claims to have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We would have to agree, it is a pretty special place and the sea is unbelievably clear with bright turquoise waters. Here we spend an amazing day in the sun and Faye has another go at back flipping off the boat - can she manage it, win the competition with Ryan and finally be able to cut his hair?! This Episode 15 was planned as "Shark Attacks at Cid Harbour", but there had to be a change of plan. After losing several months of film footage, that was kept on an External Hard Drive, we didn't back up (lesson learnt), we sail the boat south again to crack on with boat projects. We had sailed north from The Whitsundays to Townsville and Magnetic Island. A few days spent out on the reef at isolated Wheeler Reef. Return to Townsville and head for Hinchinbrook Island followed by a few weeks of diving The Great Barrier Reef from Beaver Cay to Pellowe, Miln and Flynn Reefs off Cairns. A few weeks break in Cairns before sailing over 1000 Nautical Miles down to the New South Wales Coast and back to The Gold Coast. We are getting the boat prepared for several years of international cruising. There had been a build up of many coats of antifouling previously and needed to be taken back to bare hulls and freshly applied. Leah got fed up with the dust, dirt and mess of the boatyard after a few weeks and had other plans. She got a job helping a Delivery Skipper sail a newish Fontaine Pajot Helia 44 from Mackay in The Whitsundays down to Mooloolaba on The Sunshine Coast. Jobs undertaken during haulout: - New solar panels - 2 x 360 watt Sunpower panels replacing 3 x 130 panels. New Victron Solar Controller, and Thermal CB. Spectra Cape Horn Watermaker needed a service and a replacement head to the Water Pump.Replace hydraulic hosing with nylon tubing from The Clark Pump to The Membrane and new BSP fittings. A new CB to the DC Panel. New Balmar 165 amp Alternator for Port Engine. Replace Whale Gulper Water and Shower Pump. Service and replacement parts for Paguro Generator. New Electronic Fuel Lift Pump for Generator. New Fuel/Water Separator Filters for both 40HP Yanmars. Oil change - Engine and transmission. New Anodes, rubber boots and grease Feathering Props. Gelcoat and Fibreglass repairs to Hull and Crossbeam. Polish and wax finish. 2 coats of Primer and International Paints Micron Extra AP Antifouling. New Code Zero Sail bag, Main sail boom bag repaired and new zip. Second Hand Mercury 15HP Outboard for back up or to be used as primary motor for tender. New Dometic 50 Litre Portable Fridge/Freezer. New replacement Smev 2 Burner Cooktop for Galley. wow!!! hopefully that will keep us going for some time! The Haulout was carried out at The Gold Coast City Marina and some work was undertaken at a work berth at BoatWorks next door.

After two months on board, Simon is leaving Karl to head back home to Canada. It's been super fun to have him as crew and we had a great time sailing and exploring together. Simon left just before xmas and I went home for a short last minute xmas visit, leaving Karl on his two anchors in Bahía Solano.
