The seventh episode of my Adventure to learn to ride a foil board, this time on the Ozone Chrone Ultralight 18m! We say goodbye to Millie as she heads home to Adelaide. We prepare the boat for our first ocean passage from Australia to New Caledonia. We install our extra 650 watts of solar panels, increase our house battery bank, upgrade our dinghy motor, install the deck wash pump, service the engines, swap the jib for the new genoa. After waiting almost 2 weeks for a good weather window, the Down Under Rally departs Southport Marina, Brisbane. After having a few issues in the crossing, we arrive at Ilot Maitre New Caledonia after 7 days at sea.

What happens when you get injured days away from help? Near the end of our ocean crossing from Costa Rica to Hawaii Ty’s back problems flair up, and then are aggravated by nearly falling off the boat! On the Hook for Crew Overboard, Kitesurfing & Beach Cleanup Heads up, the man overboard stuff is just for entertainment. We’re not good enough at it to be instructive :) After a sporty sail from Falmouth Harbor to Green Island Antigua we set anchor and settle into a few days of fun. First effort, kiteboarding! Craig practices on his foil while the pros zoom around us. It's a lot of fun. The beach and island are beautiful. We do a little #noMOOP cleanup to keep it that way. After some sun and exploration it's time for lunch aboard Hurrah. Our plan is to sail from Antigua to Barbuda, Bermuda and Newport RI. We spend a lot of time preparing the boat and ourselves. Safety is essential and so is practicing key safety protocol. While on the hook, we set up and rehearse our Man/Crew Overboard plan. We go through unconscious and conscious rescue scenarios.
