Here I eventually found the footage I had for the commissioning phase of Apocalypse, the sail from Lorient to Cadiz and then later some footage after the Cannes boat show to Corsica. I hope this gives you all some helpful information. Join this channel to get access further benefits: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiza2TBRzBn3GnN7j72kNsA/join

As we are back in the EU spending time with family, we took the time to look at some of the sailing stores in Lorient France. Karver produces some very interesting equipment we thought might be interesting to review. We are not endorsed by Karver in any way. Enjoy!

In this episode we go into the detail necessary to create a reliable, robust navigational system onboard. You MUST be self reliant to be offshore in our view. Our setup doesn't appear convenient at first, however the further you sail, it will be for reasons explained in the video. We replaced the radar dome as the 4g unit failed also. Since writing the VHF has also failed from BandG along with our GPS sensor. So you get the picture here folks...... We write from safety now in Costa Rica and next episode we will explore the dangers and the solutions we had on the navigation to Costa Rica. For those interested to replicate this setup: Linksys 5g router, Navico Halo 20 (resentfully purchased). Cat 5 crimper and cables to make new rj45 connection. Opencpn software https://opencpn.org/ You must install the radar Pi plugin as part of the opencpn plugins section and connect your computer to the new 5g network you created over wifi. Put the radar cable into the router. Also, you will need a fairly decent cpu or GPU in your laptop or desktop to run the radar over wifi. My raspberry pi 4 didn´t cut it. actisense usb multiplexer https://actisense.com/products/ngt-1-nmea-2000-to-pc-interface/ for max detail, go here. https://github-wiki-see.page/m/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi/wiki/Hardware-installation-%28Navico%29 If I were to do it all again, I would get this https://www.vespermarine.com/cortex Never give up, keep the sails up, keel down and Carry on! Here we have a full service of our engine with change of coolant. We did not change the belts as they do not require change. Kind regards The Carry on crew!
For christmas we had onboard new friends to celebrate the festive season. The Camarena family asked if we could give them some offshore coaching onboard the Neel 51 for Beatrice's birthday. 90% of these days sailing were upwind.
